Chapter 386 Life After Marriage
Melody said, "I've spent my whole life preparing to marry Theo. I learned every possible skill and even chose finance as my college major just so I could help him run his company in the future.
"I mastered almost every form of art that high-society wives are expected to know, all to make sure I'd never embarrass him. I've given him so much-am I still not worth more than just some pretty face?
"I refuse to accept this. Why should I give up?"
If she gave up now, what had all these years of effort and persistence been for?
Douglas felt a bitter ache in his heart. After escorting her back to her room, he lingered at the door for a long time.
By late afternoon, around 5:00 pm, Daniel called to invite Theo out for a game of pool.
"Do you want to come?" Theo didn't agree right away. Instead, he turned to ask Sierra.
Lying on the bed, still groggy from her nap, she shook her head and mumbled, "You go ahead."
Just because they were on this trip together didn't mean they had to do everything together. She was happy to give Theo his personal space.
He considered her words for a moment before lowering his head to press a kiss on her forehead. "I'll be back soon."
"It's fine." She instinctively closed her eyes. "You hardly get time to relax. Just enjoy yourself. Don't worry about me."
Seeing how natural and at ease she was, he once again marveled at how thoughtful she was.
Not long after he left, Yvette came by to keep her company.
"Theo is seriously something. He was afraid you'd get bored alone, so he called me to come over and hang out with you." Yvette sighed, looking impressed. "He's really not the same person he used to be."
"What was he like before?" Sierra asked as she poured Yvette a glass of water.
Yvette sat cross-legged on the couch with a playful smirk. "Back in the day, Melody did everything she could to get his attention, but he never took the bait. She'd ask him if he wanted to watch a movie and he'd say movies are fake and pointless. She'd..."
She rattled off a few more examples before shaking her head with a laugh. "It was like throwing flirtation at a brick wall. But still, Melody never gave up. Out of all the women who pursued Theo, she was the most relentless."
Yvette wasn't just gossiping. She was using this opportunity to let Sierra know about Theo and Melody's history.
Sierra understood that and was grateful. Her voice was warm and sincere. "Thank you, Yvette."noveldrama
Yvette found her so adorable that she couldn't resist squeezing her cheeks. "You and Theo really are a good match. He's dominant, and you're sweet. Both of you are ridiculously good-looking. Your kids are definitely going to be beautiful."
At that, Sierra's face flushed. She shot her a playful glare. "Yvette, where are you going with this?"
"You and Theo have been married for a while now, and you're still so shy." Yvette teased, amused by how Sierra's face turned an even deeper shade of red. Then, she continued with a more serious tone, "Jokes aside, you two shouldn't rush into having kids."
Even though she and Theo weren't at that stage yet, Sierra was still curious. "Why do you say that?"
Yvette, having been married for
longer and with more life experience, couldn't help but offer a little advice. "Marriage isn't the same as dating. There's a lot of adjustment involved. You should wait at least a year or two before thinking about kids."
That was exactly why she and Simon hadn't had children yet.
Sierra reflected on her married life so far. While not much had changed from before, Theo's care had made everything even better.
What do you think?
