Chapter 35
Instead of replying Alec, Shane looked away instead and Alec let out a scoff. ” Really?… ” He asked unbelievably.
” Alright then, suit yourself ” He said, and looked sideways hoping Shane would call him but he never did.
He gave up and glared angrily at Shane who wasn’t looking at his way. ” Gosh, you’re so annoying… ” He groaned. ” Let’s leave, we’ve outstayed our stay here ” Alec muttered, standing up and Shane did the same without delay.
” Hey ” Mirah tapped Layla whose head was bent on the table she was seated. Layla felt a cold hand on her skin and she raised her head to Mirah’s face, she arched her brows.
” They’re leaving ” Mirah muttered, her gaze glued at a direction. Layla raised her head and truly she saw the two leaving.
” Oh ” She muttered silently not looking away from the view, watching them walk out of the coffee shop. They were finally out of view and she let out a sigh before looking away.
” You know, you could have talked things out with him. You can’t deny the fact that you feel a thing for him and I’m sure he does too, you two are just trying to hide and deny the fact ” Mirah said beside her but Layla kept mute, as she kept staring into space.
” You won’t say a thing huh? ” Mirah asked, facing Layla but she still wouldn’t say a thing.
” Suit yourself then ” Mirah muttered, rolling her eyes. Layla couldn’t help the thoughts rushing into her head. It’s just been some minutes since he left and she’s missing him so badly.
” They left already? ” The duo turned and Mr Cyrus was standing before them. ” Yes sir ” Mirah was the first to reply. ” Okay then. You… ” He started, referring to Layla.
” You are having both morning and afternoon shifts before. Mirah you’re only having an afternoon shift. Is that understood? ” He asked and the duo nodded. ” Great ” He replied with a smile before walking away.
” Great, I got two shifts ” Layla groaned and Mirah chuckled. ” Well, I’m glad I only have a shift… ” Mirah suddenly stopped and turned to Layla, looking at her intently.
” Why do you think he gave you two shifts? ” Mirah asked suspiciously. ” Well I don’t know why, and it’s none of my business ” Layla muttered, yawning tiredly.
” Isn’t it time already?, I wanna go home already ” Layla muttered. ” We have an hour left ” Mirah muttered, her eyes glued on the watch on her wrist. Layla nodded tiredly still yawning tiredly.
” You sure you’re not pregnant? ” Mira asked jokingly and Layla let out a short chuckle. ” Nah, I’m just stressed out. I got lots of things on my head and also, school work. That alone is draining the hell outta me ” She muttered. ” It’s the same here but we have to keep on peddling our bicycle ” Mirah said, sarcasm obvious in her tone and Layla couldn’t help but laugh out heartily.
” Dude!, What the hell was that? ” She asked in between the laugh, turning to Mirah who also couldn’t contain her laughter.
” It’s the truth ” Mirah said with a chuckle.” Gosh, you’re crazy ” Layla muttered and Mirah smiled. ” At least I made you laugh, it’s been long since you did that ” Mirah said and Layla turned to her surprisingly and with a scoff.
” Really?, You said the same thing yesterday. Gosh, you’re so extra ” She said and Mirah chuckled out loudly. ” Are you two going to keep on chatting all day? ” One of their co-workers said beside them with a roll of her voice.
Mirah scoffed before rolling her eyes. ” It’s none of your business witch! ” She said, folding her arms under her br*easts.
” It’s Mitch, okay? ” The girl corrected. ” Well, I prefer calling you a witch cause you act like one ” Mirah replied and the girl sent her a harsh glare before walking away not without a loud hiss. Mirah chuckled before walking back to Layla who shook her head at her friend’s craziness.
” What?, I’m aware that I’m one crazy bi*tch ” She said proudly and Layla couldn’t contain her laughter. ” Stop. You’re killing me ” Layla said in between the laugh.
” Oh, we have new customers ” Mirah alerted Layla and she stopped laughing and comported herself immediately. They both stood up properly and went to tend to the new customers.

Shane couldn’t get enough sleep as he kept rolling from one side of the bed to the other. He couldn’t get the scene earlier out of his head. She said she’s trying to avoid any sort of thing between them and that includes avoiding him. But could he do that?
He can’t seem to get her off his head even for a single minute. He’s aware he’s married and it will be wrong for him to feel a thing for her but everything seem to be going against his wish at that moment. He isn’t supposed to be going crazy over his fake bride. It was a contract and a contract should remain a contract. Could this be possible?
He sighed for the umpteenth time, the scene replaying vividly on his head. But then, Alec’s words… Are they true?
Could it really be that Layla’s feeling the same way he’s feeling at that moment. It clearly doesn’t look like that or it’s just that every of her movements and expressions are confusing.
He could only be sure if he gets to be around her everytime but that’s totally impossible. Their status is really different from each other. He’s the CEO of one of the biggest Enterprise in the country but she.. she’s just a student. He’s married and older than her and she’s from a low class family while he’s not.
All these are making it all hard for him to confirm his feelings for her. He isn’t even sure if he has those feelings Alec is claiming her has for her. It’s just a confusing and weird feeling. He can’t probably be falling for his replacement bride.
He would have decided on doing the same thing she’s trying to do but it can’t work. He can’t avoid her or let go of her even for a day. Her face keeps replaying on his head. ” Gosh, I might lose it at this point ” He kept muttering to himself at several intervals.
” Gosh, I can’t take this anymore ” He muttered to himself and grabbed his car keys, heading straight to the coffee shop in his car. He placed a call across to Alec to join him there.
He got there and tried his possible best to comport himself before entering. He walked to his usual seat and two servers rushed to him immediately. ” What would you like sir? ” Mitch said with a big smile plastered on her face. Mr Cyrus had promised an extra tip for anyone who served Shane well and diligently.
” Get me Layla instead. I want her to serve me ” Was all he said as he shut his eyes. The two exchanged glances before nodding anyways – with a sad look, they walked away.
” Layla, your usual customer is here ” Mitch said to Layla whose head was on a desk,, jealousy glaring obviously on her face.
Layla raised her head immediately and her gaze caught Shane who was seated on his usual seat. Her face twitched into a sad one immediately. Merely seeing him, is enough to justify that she can’t hide her feelings in as much as she tried to, that alone is making her sad. She’s really scared of the outcome and that’s why she’s trying so much to avoid it.
But, it’s really seeming impossible. ” What?… What’s with the sad face?, You should be glad you get to serve him and get the extra pay in place of us ” Mitch said with an eye roll before walking away while the other server followed her behind.
Layla heaved a big sigh before walking over to Shane. One could see his face lit up in excitement as he saw her standing right in front of him. His heart leapt for joy. He had to control himself from staring at her as she took his orders. ” That’s all? ” Layla asked Shane who was busy accessing her perfect facial features.
” Sir? ” She called but got no reply. ” Shane? ” She blurted out without knowing and that jolted him out of his thoughts as he suddenly felt butterflies in his tummy.
She called him by his name. He have so much missed that. ” Call me that again ” He whispered, not taking his eyes off her face.
