Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Liam didn’t come back to Regalian Garden for lunch, so Cynthia ate a modest meal alone. After a short afternoon nap, noticing the beautiful sunlight outside, she pondered that since she returned to Auroran, to avoid any suspicion, she hadn’t practiced her boxing–an almost rusty feeling she got from last night’s scuffle. Deciding it was time to loosen up, she picked a spot in the garden to get moving.
The garden at Regalian Garden was vast, featuring artificial hills and running water surrounded by countless precious plants and flowers. Cynthia chose a spot by the pond where she could hear the water and soak up the sun, closing her eyes to the feeling of returning to the wild. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
The boxing Cynthia practiced was not the traditional kind. To an ordinary onlooker, her moves might seem random, but only a true connoisseur could appreciate her technique fully. The punches she threw seemed to have the power of a thousand pounds, whipping up the wind with each movement, but somehow, their transition was smooth and silky.
Totally engrossed in her workout, Cynthia did not notice the two figures approaching,
David was also fond of boxing in his younger days and had competed quite frequently. He was thoroughly impressed with Cynthia’s technique; it rekindled the fire of his youth. Without hesitation, he jumped in, challenging her to a friendly sparring match.
Cynthia’s punches were honed in real combat. Even though there were no adversaries at that moment, her fists still carried a hint of lethality. Upon seeing the unexpected elder, she swiftly softened her blows.
She was about to relax her stance when David objected, throwing a quick punch and saying, “Young lady, don’t hold back. Let’s spar a bit.
Despite being nearly eighty, David was still robust thanks to his lifelong practice, with a quickness to his punches that rivaled many young men’s. Cynthia, caught off guard by the surprise attack, parried while trying to guess the identity of the two seniors. The people with such uninhibited access to the Regalian Garden could only be Liam’s grandparents.
After ten minutes, they stopped, both at peace. Sweating profoundly, David exhaled deeply, clearly thrilled with the exercise.
Cynthia handed him a towel, considerately offering. “Wipe off some sweat
David accepted the towel, wiped his forehead, and praised, “You, young lady, are not half bad”
While David caught his breath, Cynthia stood unaffected,
That was when Jasmine came over, playfully scolding and lightly slapping David’s head. “You old man, you’re risking your life to box at this age.” David, not one to enjoy losing face, scowled and moved aside to sit
Jasmine then turned to look at Cynthia curiously. “And who might you be?”
“Tam Cynthia hesitated, aware of Jasmine’s st
status but unsure how to introduce herself since her marriage to Liam took place only two days earlier and had apparently been kept a secret from his family.
Luckily, Darian arrived in time, announcing. “This is Mr. Liam Sullivan’s wife.”
Jasmine’s jaw dropped in shock. They had been urging Liam to settle down for years, and now he was married without so much as a peep to them- how utterly preposterous.
Darian mentally apologized to Liam for the reveal; he was no traitor after all.
Jasmine’s facial 4 expression was utterly hilarious. After her initial astonishment, she quickly grabbed her new granddaughter–in–law’s hand and began their gossip.
