Chapter 374 Old Habits Die Hard
Sierra was no longer thrilled about her trip to the resort. Standing where she was, she felt immensely awkward, and her cheeks felt hot. It turned out Douglas didn't mean to invite her along. For her to show up anyway, she must have seemed quite off-putting.
"I'm going to leave now. Have fun, guys." She gripped her purse uneasily and flashed a warm smile at Yvette. "I'll call you the next time Maddy and I go shopping, but I need to go."
Yvette's heart melted when she saw how sweet and obedient Sierra was. Then, she gave Douglas a nasty look. "What's the meaning of this? Did Sierra and I derail your questionable plans?"
Before Douglas could say anything, Simon immediately answered, "No. I have no idea what he's up to."
"Douglas, what the hell did you mean when you said those words?" Daniel looked at Douglas, feeling puzzled.noveldrama
For a moment there, Douglas had no idea how to explain himself. He looked at Theo, but his words wouldn't come out. After a long time, he still couldn't bring himself to say anything comprehensive.
"Did you do something that will anger us again?" She shot him a menacing look. She knew him all too well.
His expression turned stiff. Gritting his teeth, he denied it. "No. I wouldn't have done anything like that. It's just..."
His voice trailed off toward the end of his sentence. Evidently, he was feeling diffident.
Daniel and Simon were certain that Douglas had arranged something for Theo and didn't want Sierra to know about it.
Theo exuded an overwhelming air, and his expression was icy as he asked sternly, "What is it?"
Douglas sensed that Theo was genuinely mad now. Rubbing his nose, he hurriedly explained, "I mean, all I did was ask Melody along. We're all friends, and she wanted to have a gathering because she has just returned from abroad. That's why I invited you guys here."
Danied sneered and said without hesitation, "I'll bet she wants to gather with Theo, not us."
Gathering everyone else was merely an excuse.
Simon gave Douglas a disapproving look. "You handled this poorly."
Douglas knew that Melody had a thing for Theo, but the man was married. What was worse, Douglas tried to keep it a secret when he invited Theo. Just what was he trying to achieve?
When he saw Sierra here, he even intended to chase her out of the resort. It was completely outrageous.
།
Yvette was angrier than them. She sneered, Snapping, "You are just the most loathsome man I've ever seen. What were you hoping when you asked Theo out for Melody? Do you want him to cheat on Sierra?"
Douglas' face reddened with rage, and he replied in a displeased tone, "That's mean. It's not like Melody has any ulterior motives. All she wants is to hang out with her old friends."
She snickered, sticking a finger out and pointing at everyone. "Do you think we are friends with Melody? All she did was follow Theo wherever he went. None of us thinks she's our friend."
Douglas frowned and gave her a dirty look. He insisted, "Theo and I are her friends. Also, Donald and Simon knew her."
The moment Yvette looked over, Simon held his hands in resignation. "I don't. I've forgotten what she looked like."
She turned her gaze away in satisfaction. Then, she stepped forward to loop her arm with Sierra's

"You're not going anywhere. If anything, Melody is the one who needs to leave."
Theo's expression was grim. He walked behind the ladies and didn't bother to grace Douglas with so much as a glance.
"Douglas, I want you to take my advice and get your head checked at the hospital
when you have the time." Yvette stopped when she walked past him.
She added sarcastically, "Perhaps your parents dropped you on your head when you were a baby, and you still haven't recovered from it. That would explain why you did something this ridiculous."
What do you think?
