baby and try to finish work earlier so you can be home more. Otherwise,
when he grows up, he might not even recognize you!"
Emmanuel sighed with a wry smile and said, "You're right. I've been thinking that once I deal with Teddy and help Ethan become the leader, I'll resign from all my military duties and stay with you and the baby. But the General wants
to recommend me to take his place."
Mackenzie, understanding his dilemma and not wanting him to push the
decision onto her, smiled gently. "Well, if you do decide to take the position, I
won't stay as Chairman of the Nuthana Chamber of Commerce either. If you're heading to the Northern Region, we'll follow you."
"That's not happening."
Emmanuel shook his head firmly. "The Northern Region is too harsh for
women and children. If Caden grows up wanting to serve the country, I'll fully
support him. But for now, I want him to have a happy childhood." Mackenzie nodded in agreement. "That's exactly what I was thinking. As parents, that's the least we can do for him. Happiness is what matters most." While Mackenzie didn't outright say whether she supported Emmanuel taking the marshal's position, her words conveyed her feelings clearly enough. Emmanuel understood, and it only strengthened his resolve.
