Branch Fifteen
The car came to a complete stop in front of Hyshoo restaurant where they would be dining.
“Arguing won’t help us get the impression that we are going for,” Xavier said taking a deep breath.
Jessica’s phone had gone off the hoot ringing nonstop and she had refused to get it even with Xavier urging her to get it to prove her innocence. He just wanted to know if she truly was not cheating on him.
Jessica on the other hand was greatly uninterested in speaking to her aunt even as Xavier was hounding in on her like a wild dog.
“I never wanted to argue. You started it” Jessica replied taking off her seat belts.
The valets watch the car not sure if they should go up to it. The tinted window glass makes it difficult for them to know who is in it as this gives the couple the liberty to argue about it as much as they want.
“Let’s not argue. Let us have a fun late lunch and have something everyone can see a call as a date. Okay?” Xavier said.
To him, it felt like going in circles. He was exhausted from the exchange. He had been put in a situation where he had to argue so much.
To most of the people around him, his word was the final law and they obeyed without complaining or objection. Jessica held firm and not picked up the phone.
“Okay,” she said still pissed but ready to clear up her name in the minds of the citizens of the city.
“I’ll open up for you and then take my hand when you come out,” Xavier said removing his seat belt and coming out.
“And he claims to never have dated anyone,” Jessica said with a huff.
“Who is he fooling?” she added.
Xavier went around the car and opened up the door. Jessica put one leg out before the other and came down. She linked her hands to his and smiles at him.
Xavier could not believe this was the same woman who yelled a few minutes ago. She must be good at acting.
Jessica did take a few acting classes in college. It was an elective and she did enjoy them. With her side-eye, she noticed one of the valets approaching them.
“Darling let’s go,” she said using her free hand to touch his forearm. Those who work as valets, waitresses, drivers, or any kind of help were the easiest method to spread gossip. She needed to use him.
Xavier was thrown back by the nickname but he quickly composed himself. They began walking into the restaurant. The manager met them at the entrance.
“Mr. Delgado, I wasn’t expecting you today,” Richard said when he saw him. “And alongside your lovely wife too” he added when his eyes fell on Jessica.
Although Xavier had published on her when thru had the wedding, most people only came to take note of her face and person when the false news came to light.
“This is Mr. Richard” Xavier said.
“Hello Mrs Delgado,” Richard said bowing his head.
“Hello,” Jessica said with a smile.
“Can I show you to a private room?” Richard asked.
He knew Xavier’s style quite well and how he liked his privacy away from the public eye. So even if it be that he removes one customer for him then so be it. Xavier was worth more than ten customers to him.
“Just give us a table on the floor”
What was the point of dining out if they sat in a private room? They needed to be seen and so the floor room it was.
Richard’s eyes widened when he heard Xavier’s request. It was absurd but he did it anyways.
He led them to a table that was away from direct contact with the crowd’s eyes.
“Give us a different table,” Xavier said when he noticed the table that he was offering was not going to do the trick.
To Richard, it was as if someone had switched up the soul of Xavier. His requests seemed weird to him. He obeyed anyways and gave them a table open to the public eyes.
“Oh thank you, Mr. Richard. That’s so kind of you” Jessica said raising her voice some degree higher than normal.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
“No problem ma’am. I’ll be back to take your order” Richard said before walking away.
To Jessica, this was very strange. The manager taking orders, not ever has she seen such. Xavier must be as influential as they come.
Soon the chefs and assistants were lining up to greet and make themselves known to the client. This was hardly anything new. She has done it countless times. There were stories that some people become personal chefs after showing themselves to the client.
Jessica signed in jealousy. She missed being in that uniform and cooking to her heart’s content.
“What’s the matter?” Xavier asked.
“Are you sad I’m not your little boyfriend?” he added.
“Stop it,” Jessica said smiling through gritted teeth.
To Xavier, he couldn’t understand why he was behaving like that. He saw quite well the way she cried on the day she got married. He knew that she was probably not seeing that man again but the thought of the news made him somewhat angry.
“Okay,” He said with a high to of anger in his voice.
Jessica stretched forth her hands and ran them over his. He froze and wanted to recoil but his eyes caught those who were openly staring at him.
“Remember that you are not sleeping in the same room as me,” Jessica said still smiling and sounding as sweet as possible.
“Impossible,” Xavier said.
It was quite unimaginable for him to smile so he played his poker face card.
“I’m not joking,” Jessica said then bursts out in fits of laughter as if any of them had said anything funny.
“That’s a matter for another time, definitely not now,” Xavier said.
Jessica picked up the menu to see what e should go for. She has never had the opportunity to enter a high-end restaurant and order food. She was going to get the best tonight no matter how pissed at her husband she was.
“Do you want me to order?” Xavier asked. “You’re probably unfamiliar with most dishes there” he added.
“I’m a chef Mr. Delgado and I pretty much know many dishes. Don’t worry I’ll order myself” Jessica said keeping up the smile.
Everyone around was staring at them and wondering what they were doing. Some people thought they had lost screws up there. They did look happy because they had been all smiles since they came in.
Some had abandoned their dates or meetings and stared at them shamelessly. After all, it was the Delgado owner.
The manager came back and took their order and brought out their meals afterward. Jessica had ordered a seven-course meal.
“I’m going to feed you some food now. I want you to collect it with glee” Jessica said in a whisper. The same whisper they had all night.
Xavier’s eyes widen. He could hardly believe what he had heard.
“You better cooperate now” Jessica added.
Although it was a whisper it was as good as a decree. Xavier’s mouth flew open as the cutlery came towards his mouth. He collected and chewed the food.
“It won’t kill you to smile”
