“Stop what?” Jessica asked her eyebrow going up.
He saw the expression on her face. As much as he wanted to be on a first name basis with her he was feeling kind of intimidated. It was a strange feeling for him and he did not know what to do with the feeling.
“That thing you do,” Xavier asked.
Jessica was truly confused by his words. He had not made any sense. He told her to stop but omitted the important part of what she should stop doing.
After she visited Dawson’s hospital room today when concluded that if his grandfather was looking out for him so much there was no reason for her to frustrate him. She was not going to play the role of a dotting wife and neither was she going to throw herself at him hoping for a change in life. She was simply going to live in peace with him.
What she truly understood by living in peace was being considerate of each other’s emotions. She was not thinking about big emotions but just the tiny things like what exactly at this moment was making him uncomfortable. She knew that although they shared the same room space Xavier did not consider her his wife and therefore those big emotions could not be considered.
“Stop what?” Jessica asked with patience ignoring that he had completely ignored her the first time she asked. His answer was unreasonable and even wise men would have a hard time understanding what he meant.
“You are comfortable around everyone but me” Xavier accused her.
Jessica had purposely built up her walls high because of how much of a jerk he was when they had the false news going around. She did not even notice when the news stopped trending and the people became interested in something else.
“I am not uncomfortable around you,” Jessica said jumping to defend herself.
Xavier would not believe her. If she was as comfortable as she claims then he would not be having this conversation with her. They were both walking on eggshells around each other. No one wanted to be the sorry master.
“You are,” Xavier said shortly like a child involved in an argument he was going to lose.
So what if she was uncomfortable? He was the one that made it that way. They agreed to be friends but he was harsh and had a loose mouth. Jessica knew that above keeping the peace between herself and him her mental health and well-being were important to her.
If he was in it to stress her out she was going to be uncomfortable around him and avoid situations that would put them together.
“You are,” he said again faintly.
It was as if to reassure himself that he was right and she was wrong.
“Tell me how?” Jessica asked. She needed to know what she was doing wrong to change it and she voiced her thoughts. “If you don’t tell me how I would not know how to change it”
“You are way too formal around me. Why call me Mr. Delgado?” Xavier finally said.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
He felt embarrassed that Jessica could not pick up on what he meant at once but he still felt relief that he had said it and it was out there out of his chest.
“Oh,” Jessica repeated shocked that it bothered him.
“If it bothers you so much I could call you by your first name” Jessica offered.
“I would very much like that Jessica” Xavier, said and smiled smugly before exiting the dining from.
Jessica pushed the remaining pasta down her throat before she cleared the table. She went upstairs and took a shower before retiring to bed. She hoped not to wake up with an upset stomach after eating way too much dinner.
Before Jessica could fit herself properly into the rich cycle the first month was coming to an end. Eleven more months to go for her before she amicably divorces Xavier.
The month had been uneventful. She visited Dawson at the hospital almost every day and he had asked her if she considered the honeymoon any time she brought up the matter of him coming home.
Jessica has sometimes overheard Roselle pester Xavier into taking her on honeymoon. She assumed that both Roselle and Dawson were in on the plan. Xavier had evaded her successfully putting her off.
When Jessica woke up that morning she felt a little funny. She knew what was coming up was her menstrual cycle. She has for a month forgotten how serious her cramps could get.
She had landed in the hospital and even triggered a fever because of menstrual cramps before. Her eyes were open but she could not make it out of bed. She felt very weak as she felt her body losing blood.
She forced herself up so she doesn’t stain the bedspread. She put in a tampon and went back to lie down. She knew it would be impossible for her to make breakfast and dinner for Xavier for the next four to five days.
After a while, Xavier woke up and was startled to see Jessica still laying on the bed. Ever since they got married and started sharing a room, Xavier had never woken up to still meet Jessica in bed.
He knew that something was wrong but how was he going to get to the bottom of that? Xavier stood up quietly. Since Jessica’s eyes were closed he assumed she was still sleeping.
He tiptoed to the bathroom and had a long bath. Jessica suddenly felt like puking. She knew that it was impossible to suppress it so she dashed into the bathroom while Xavier was still in the shower.
She bent in front of the water closet seat and puked the entire meal from the night before. She sat there head resting on her hand that was on the seat and her second hand clutching her stomach tightly.
Xavier had been frightened by the sudden entrance of Jessica into the toilet. He noticed that she did not look at him but sat down there with her eyes closed. The expression on her face showed pain. Xavier wondered what could be wrong with her.
He was now done showering but he waited for her to go out so he could also leave. Jessica sat there for a little more time. She felt weak in her legs and suspected that she could throw up again.
Xavier pulled one of the towels off the rack and tired it around his waste. He picked a second one and draped it around his shoulder to cover his chest.
He came out of the bathroom and went straight to the closet.
“That jerk would not even help me?” Jessica said asking herself the question.
Even if Xavier was uninterested in her he could at least show sympathy since she was sitting on the bathroom floor first thing in the morning.
“This jerk went to get a short and pants so he could help you,” Xavier said entering the bathroom back. He overheard what she said and felt bad.
“Let me help you back to the bed and get a puking bucket for you,” Xavier said grabbing her hand and pulling her up.
