Divorcing 420
Chapter 420 Plan
In Urban Lane, Chloe lounged by her computer to browse through the information, musing aloud, "Rich folks seem to have a penchant for emerald jewelry."
Her thoughts drifted to the emerald set Michael had once gifted her and the heirloom emerald James had lent her today.
Chloe wondered if these stones truly were so precious.
Jessica, raised in more modest circumstances, could only shrug in response.
Quinn explained, "Perhaps it's the rarity and enduring value of the color that makes it so coveted."
He attentively placed a glass of milk before Chloe.
Chloe asked, "If we do this business, will it be profitable?"
Her words amused Quinn.
"It's indeed a lucrative market, but without being in the primary production zone, lacking mines, and not having established channels, how could we possibly profit from it?" Chloe's enthusiasm dimmed slightly at this reality check.NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
"I noticed the largest source of emeralds is in Alscia, isn't it?"
Her eyes sparkled with a newfound idea.
Now that Chloe had divorced, she shifted her focus to securing a prosperous future for her unborn child.
"Do you want to ask Rick for help?"
Quinn had met Rick earlier and sensed a mutual admiration between Rick and Chloe when Rick talked about Chloe with Candy.
Yet, Quinn wondered if Rick truly possessed the necessary resources in this sector.
"It doesn't hurt to ask. The essence of friendship is mutual support. I'll inquire about the specifics of this emerald venture. We can deliberate further later!" After the divorce, Chloe channeled nearly 80% of her energy into her work.
In her mind, no project was beyond the realm of possibility.
After all, she was young and could afford to take risks.
Jessica was a college student. When she heard them discussing an emerald project, she felt a surreal sense of her own journey.
Just a month ago, she had been fretting over securing a job paying a mere 3,000 dollars a month post-graduation.
Who could have foreseen the dramatic turn her life would take after a pivotal interview?
The following day, Chloe arrived at Bright Moon International for her routine check-in.
Harold approached her, relaying, "Ms. Nelson, Mr. Dale requests your presence upstairs." Chloe followed him to the upper level, pushing open the door.
"What's up?"
"I've apprehended the traitor you mentioned previously," James revealed.
Chloe was slightly startled. "Who is it?"
"A member of the Planning Department."
Chloe thought, "The Planning Department? How could they possibly have access to the Security Department's information?"
"Does that person have a backer?"
Chloe pondered, deducing only one plausible explanation.
"My father's cousin's child."
Chloe was stunned.
She asked, "So, what's your plan?"
James tapped his pen thoughtfully on the desk. "This is where your expertise is needed. I want you to infiltrate his workstation, installing both a virus and a monitoring system on his computer and phone." Chloe felt surprised.
"Aren't you going to expel him from Bright Moon International?"
"It's always safer to keep a close eye on such threats rather than leaving them unchecked," James explained.
Chloe conceded the logic but questioned the wisdom of harboring such a risk.
"I can manage the installations you've requested, but I'm not an official employee for Bright Moon International. My sudden presence in the planning department would raise eyebrows." Chloe spent no more than an hour daily at Bright Moon International, so she was barely acquainted with colleagues in the Security Department.
While installing software at a workstation was straightforward, doing so on a personal mobile device posed a greater challenge.
James nodded, considering her points. "Understood. Don't leave just yet. Proceed to your workstation and await my further instructions."
