Divorcing 441
Chapter 441 Keep It a Secret
"Admas, what do you need me for?" Chloe asked.
"Michael told me about what had happened yesterday. It's my fault that I didn't handle the matter of the bracelets properly and made you feel awful. But since I've given the bracelets to you, they are yours. Even though you and Michael have divorced, you don't have to return them."
With that, Admas took out a wooden box.
Chloe was very familiar with the box, knowing the two bracelets were inside.
"Admas, they are too valuable. I can't accept them!"
Since they were a family heirloom of the Shawn family, there was no reason for her to take them away.
"Chloe, you don't need to keep worrying about repaying the money I gave you. You helped me take care of Michael for the past three years. No amount of money can ever compensate for what you have lost," Admas reassured Chloe.
Chloe's eyelashes trembled. She knew that Admas said this just to make her feel better.
"I have regarded you as my family for the past three years. Even though you're no longer my granddaughter-in-law, you can be my granddaughter. Take those bracelets. The Shawn family will always stay by your side."
Chloe didn't know why Admas was so nice to her.
They were not related.
There must be someone in this world who was more suitable to be Michael's wife than her.
Why did Admas choose her?
"Admas, I appreciate your kindness and I am willing to treat you as my grandpa, but I really can't have the bracelets!"
If she did, those people from the Shawn family would have leverage on her. They would think she was doing this for the Shawn family's money.
As Admas saw Chloe's determination, a glimmer of tears welled up in his eyes.
"Chloe, Michael didn't cherish you. You must have been through a lot for the past three years!"
Admas could tell that Chloe had been unhappy during the past three years.
But he always felt it was because Michael was insensitive. He always believed that if Chloe gave Michael more time, he might eventually come to a clear realization of his emotions for her. So, Admas had been trying to stop the two from getting divorced.
Now, he realized that his intervention in Chloe and Michael's relationship had caused her discomfort and pain.
"Chloe, I'm sorry!" Admas apologized.
Chloe shook her head, repeatedly insisting, "No, Admas, it's not like that. You have been incredibly kind to me. It's just that Michael and I are not meant to be together. It's not your fault!"
In the beginning, it was she who willingly accepted the 600 million dollars and agreed to marry Michael.
It was not anyone else's fault.
"Forget it, let's not talk about this anymore. Where do you live now? I'll give you a ride," Admas offered, wiping the tears from the corners of his eyes.
Chloe, never having been good at refusing Admas' request, gave him the address.
When he sent her to Urban Lane and saw her open the door and go into the house, Admas let out a long sigh.
"Sir Shawn, you have compensated Ms. Nelson enough for what happened back then. Besides, that incident had nothing to do with you directly," said Simeon. Admas waved his hand and responded, "I promised to take good care of Chloe, but I still broke my promise."
At his age, the most important thing was credibility. So Admas felt even more uncomfortable.

However, Simeon's comfort did not make Admas feel at ease.
"Has there been any news from there during this period?" Admas asked.
Simeon shook his head. "Not yet."
A trace of melancholy flashed across Admas' eyes.
"Help me select a suitable time, and I'll go over there personally."
Simeon was a little surprised. "Sir Shawn, you're still recovering..."
"I am old, but I'm not yet broken. You must keep this a secret from Michael and the rest of the Shawn family."
Unable to persuade him, Simeon had no choice but to nod in agreement.
