Chapter 25 The Miserable Nellie
Laurel walked towards Shelley and Nellie who were in a fight.
Nathan, on the contrary, chose to be an onlooker.
After all, when they were students, being glued by Nellie caused Nathan great trouble.
He probably didn’t want any more trouble at all.
Laurel looked at the two women who were already on the ground and suddenly kicked them hard.
Nellie screamed.
Laurel said loudly, “Did I kick the wrong one?”
“Pull Shelley away! She’s crazy!”
“OK.” Laurel crouched down.
Then she pushed Shelley.
While pushing Shelley, she was pushing Nellie hard as well. It seemed that she was trying to separate
Shelley and Nellie..
Yet it wasn’t the truth.
Nellie screamed again and said, “You pinched me!
“Dam n! Laurel, that’s my hair!
“You stepped on my leg!

At first, Shelley thought that Laurel was indeed interfering to give Nellie a hand, so she was a bit mad.
Yet right now, she felt that Laurel was beating Nellie even harder than her.
Nellie seemed to sense something wasn’t right, too.
She tried desperately to push Laurel and Shelley away. Her face was bruised, and her nose was
bleeding!
She looked miserable. This was probably the most embarrassing moment in her life!
She roared at Laurel, “You hit me on purpose!”
“That’s not true.” Laurel looked innocent.
“Stop lying! You were helping Shelley and beating me! I’m telling you. I will definitely tell Bruno! I’ll see
how you can explain in front of him!” Nellie said insolently.
It seemed that she was confident that Laurel was scared of
Bruno.
However, Laurel had no reaction at all.
She didn’t even respond to Nellie’s threats!
“Laurel! Do you hear me? Believe it or not, I’ll tell Bruno to dump you! You want to marry him after a
month? Stop dreaming!” Nellie said viciously.
“Well then, make sure you tell a great story to him after you go back,” Laurel said coldly.

“You…” Failing to threaten Laurel, Nellie was so pi ssed off that even her body trembled.
Knowing that she was no match for Shelley and Laurel, Nellie gritted her teeth. “I’ll make you sorry,
Laurel!”
Nellie then stormed out.
Before she left, she glanced at Nathan.
Nathan never took her side from the beginning to the end. He simply watched as her being beaten. She
stomped her foot. “Nathan, Shelley has no feelings for you at all. She is about to marry Paul! You’re
just a backup for her for years. Do you really think she’ll fall for you in the end? Haven’t you been
deceived enough by her back then?”
“Nellie, who are you calling a liar? I’ve never liked Nathan. He thought too much! You think everyone is
like you? You think everyone is just playing with men like they are toys?”
“Shut up, Shelley!”
“Pi ss off, or I’ll continue!” Saying, Shelley was about to attack Nellie again.
Nellie was terrified.
She said cruelly, “This isn’t over!”
Then she left with fury.
Nellie showed up out of the blue. Because of her appearance, Shelley was gloomy.
Yet the thought of how miserable Nellie was back then, Shelley soon felt great.

She turned to ask Laurel, “You always stopped me when I wanted to beat her. And today, you used
more strength than I did!”
Laurel thought, “I won’t show mercy to those who bully me anymore.”
“Time for us to leave,” she said.
The food here wasn’t for Nathan indeed. Laurel didn’t give Shelley’s willfulness enough credit.
“I’ve just begun…” Shelley was unwilling.
“Then eat by yourself. We are leaving.”
“F uck! What’s the fun of eating alone? Wait up…”
Cursing, Shelley left as well.
It was getting late, and Laurel had to get back to get ready for the party tomorrow. She got into her car.
Of course, as she had beer, the restaurant’s designated driver drove for her.
“I’m going back. Nathan, you barely ate anything. Have some later. Come to my place early tomorrow,”
Laurel said.
“OK.” He nodded.
Laurel asked the driver to drive off.
After she left, Shelley seemed to have remembered something. “What the f uck? What about me?”
Meanwhile, another designated driver of the restaurant drove Nathan’s car here.

Before he got in his car, he heard Shelley’s sarcastic voice. She said, “You just got back, and your mom
has already bought you a car worth over 160 thousand dollars?”
Nathan said, “I bought it myself. I earned some while being abroad…”
“Paul! You’re nearby? You can see me?” Shelley wasn’t paying attention to Nathan’s words at all.
When she got Paul’s call,
she was all smiles.
“I’ll stand in situ while waiting for you then,” she said and hung up.
Then she saw Nathan aside. She said, a bit disgusted, “Why are you still here?”
Nathan got in his car.
The driver drove away, and he looked back.

and rimmed glasses got out. They hugged.
Nathan turned his head around.
He was silent and without emotions.
His phone rang.
He picked up and said, “Hayden.”
“You’ve been back for days. Get together tonight?” Hayden’s deep voice came from the other end of
the line.
“Some other time maybe. I’ve just had some beer with Laurel,

and I’m a bit dizzy. And I had some chili. I got allergies.”
“Laurel?” Hayden asked.
“Yes. It has been years since the last time we met. She has changed a lot. Well, she’s prettier now,”
Nathan said deliberately more or less.
Hayden chuckled and said, “Let’s hang out another day.”
Then he hung up.

The second he hung up, he looked at his phone screen in a daze. Somehow, he pressed a series of
numbers with his slender fingers and waited for someone to pick up.
Laurel saw the caller ID. “Hayden.”
“Did you like the gift I prepared for your mom’s birthday?” Hayden asked straightforwardly.
“That was your gift?” Of course, Laurel thought about his speech today.
“At least your mom wouldn’t feel being let down,” he said. “I’m not much worse than Bruno.”
“You are awesome,” Laurel practically blurted out.
Those rumors about Hayden more or less affected the judges’ impression of him. Otherwise, given
Hayden’s speech today, Bruno would have kissed the award goodbye.
And such a thing with the two both winning the award would never happen.
“Thanks, sweetheart. As your hubby, I’ll work harder.”

Hayden’s tone was suggestive.
Laurel didn’t say anything immediately.
She thought, “When did we get married?
“Sweetheart? Hubby?
“How could he say it out loud so naturally just like that?”
