Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

23

NIRVANA

“There you go.” Kailin just threw something at me, and I caught it before it hit my face.

I was just in the vineyards earlier when Knight joined me, ruining my peaceful moment alone.

“What the-” I opened my hand and saw a key with the Mercedes logo. “Who owned this?”

“Your baby.”

“It’s Knight?”

“Unless you have another baby who owns a Mercedes Benz S-Class car.” She already turned her heels and grabbed my room door.

“K, wait.”

She frowned. “Don’t negotiate with me. Knight chose it for you.”

“I can’t.”

“Shut up and use it. You’ll hurt his feelings if you refuse to use the car, and a bad mood alpha isn’t so easy to deal with.” She shut the door before me.

I went to my bed and grabbed my phone. I scrolled halfway through my Phonebook to find his name, and I ended up typing it, but nada. Maybe he didn’t save his number before Axell called.NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

I dialed Kailin.

“I’m sorry, but if you don’t like that car, go ahead and return it to your mate.”

“No. It’s fine. Can you send me his number?”

“He didn’t save it on your phone?”

“Can’t find his name.”

Kailin laughed. “Try typing Nirvana’s hot biker alpha. Maybe you’ll find it.”

“It’s not funny.”

“Okay. I’m sending it now.”

“Thanks.” I ended the call, and at the same time, I received his number.

I dialed it. He saved his number with the name XMYKNIGHTX.

“Seriously?” Shit. I remembered the missed call logs. God, I was so stupid.

He picked it up quickly. “Nirvana?” His voice was the same in person but softer, like he was about to sleep.

“Did I catch you in a bad time?”

“No. I’m reading something.”

“I have to ask your number from K because I didn’t know what name you saved your number for.”

“I got distracted by the call from your ex. Did he call you again?”

“I think you scared him enough he didn’t even text me.”

“Good. I don’t like your ex calling you.”

“So, do your exes still call you?”

“I don’t have exes, Nirvana,” he said in annoyance.

“Whatever. The car key Kailin gave me, I can’t accept it. What if I got into an accident and can’t afford the repair.”

“It’s ensured. Use it. Tell K to drive you to my house so you can get the car.”

“The winery is not that far. I can-”

“Nirvana, I don’t accept no for an answer, especially if it concerns your safety. Just do as I say.”

“Fine. I’ll return it once I get my car from New York.”

“You don’t have to send it here. I don’t use that car more often, especially if I’m just around the area.”

“Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.”

“Bye.”

“Goodnight, Nirvana.”

“Night, Knight.” I chuckled in the end.

“Why are you laughing?” He sounded like smiling, too.

“Didn’t you hear me? I just said, night Knight.”

“I heard it. See you tomorrow, sweetheart.”

My heart skipped a beat, even if he already hung up the call. Did he just call me sweetheart? I was expecting someone like Knight to call me maybe, babe, but I still felt the flutter in my belly.

I couldn’t sleep after the call, and I was still smiling for at least ten minutes, but what made me happy the most was the content of the boxes and the easel when I unboxed earlier.

He didn’t have to do all that, but I appreciated simple things and simple gestures more than the expensive and grander ones.

He bought a complete supply of colors from acrylic to oil and watercolor, and the best part was he gave me high-quality brushes and different sizes of canvas. I also found sketch pads, charcoals, graphite, and pencils.

My stomach suddenly growled. I went down to the kitchen to make some sandwiches. They had stainless appliances and a fantastic collection of kitchen utensils. It reminds me of my grandfather’s kitchen in the restaurant.

When the twins came in, I grabbed sourdough bread and some ingredients for my sandwiches.

“Oh, I didn’t notice someone is here. We can come back.”

“Don’t be silly. Come on in.” I sliced the bread and heat a pan. “The cook doesn’t mind me using the kitchen, right? Or your alpha.”

“Who?” The blond with tanner skin than his twin came to the table.

“Alpha Knight.”

“Alpha?” asked the other twin, pretending he didn’t know what I was talking about.

“I know you’re both werewolves. Knight is your alpha, Kaleb is the beta, and Luka is the delta or the third-in-command. How am I doing so far?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Miss Thorne,” the tanner one said.

“Really, guys?” I poured a good amount of olive oil into the pan and put two slices of bread. “Knight told me everything, and my grandfather is also a werewolf, a pack member of one of the New York packs.”

“But you’re human.” There was a hesitation in West’s voice as he sniffed the air.

“Long story, but yes. And call me Vana.”

“I’m North,” said the tanner, “and my twin, West.”

“You’re kidding?” My eyes widened. “Your names are North and West?”

“Yeah,” they said in unison.

“Wow. So why are you here in the kitchen?”

“We’re hoping to eat some leftovers,” North said.

“Go ahead so I can heat it for you.”

“We’re good. Thanks.”

“Well, suit yourself.” I grabbed some lettuce, ham, tomatoes, goat cheese, and arugula. Then I flipped my bread.

“Um, can I have one of your sandwiches, if it’s okay?” West said hesitantly.

I smiled as I put some tomato slices in the pan. “How about you, North.”

“Are you sure it’s okay?”

“Of course.” I made two more sandwiches and put a lot of ham. “So why are you still up?”

“Alpha asked us to sweep the perimeters south of the property to make sure there were no unfamiliar scents or rogues around the area. Mad came with us, too.”

“Mad?”

“Maddox,” West said, “The Goldilocks guy. Don’t tell him I said that.”

“Noted. Are there any reports of an attack recently?” I put their sandwiches into two plates.

“It’s been months since we heard of an animal attack.” West grabbed some bottled water in the ref. He gave me one, and they started munching their sandwiches. “This is way better than the sandwich in the cafe near the school.”

“Thank you.” I took a bite, too. It was good.

“Maybe Alpha is just trying to be careful.”

“He’s right, though,” West replied to his twin.

Once we were done, they volunteered to clean our mess.

“Please, don’t tell Alpha you made sandwiches for us?”

My brows furrowed. “Why do you want me to lie to your alpha?”

“Are you sure he’s here?” I glanced up at his big three-story modern house, almost as big as the pack house. “And he lives here alone?”

“Yup. He also greatly values his privacy, but the guys often come to his house to watch football. He had a huge TV screen. I also come here when he needs me.”

I got out of the car and looked around. His had an elegant driveway with a neatly trimmed lawn.

“It screams luxury. He seemed so down-to-earth aside from when he’s wearing a suit.”

“That’s who he is. He never brags about his wealth.”

“So where is he?”

“Looking for me?” He had just come out of the front door in his t-shirt and jeans, yet he still looked devastatingly handsome. “Come inside.”

“I have to go back to work.”

“Wait. You’re leaving?” I felt like I was being played.

“Yeah. I just took you here so you could take the car.” Kailin quickly got in the car and drove off, leaving me stunned in my place.

Now that she was gone from the property, I didn’t know what to do anymore. Or I could just ask where the car was so I could drive away or get inside his house where it would be just him and me.

“Nirvana, come inside.”

Great.
