Chapter 112
As we settled into our seats on the plane, the hum of the engine filling the air, Nathan threw a casual arm over the back of my seat, his touch reassuring. Tristan sat to my right, his knee lightly brushing against mine as he leaned in, a soft smile on his lips.
"So, how was the grand showdown between Adonis and Sara?" Nathan asked, his fingers lightly tracing circles on my shoulder.
I let out a small laugh, shaking my head at the memory of the argument. “Oh, it was a mess. They were at each other's throats, like usual. Sara was yelling about how he always chose me over her, and Adonis-well, he wasn't exactly calm. But Ryan helped calm things down."
"Of course she'd say that," Tristan chimed in, his eyes sparkling. "You're the favorite child. Naturally, she'd be jealous."
I elbowed him playfully. "You're not helping." But the warmth in their teasing eased some of the tension lingering from the confrontation.
Nathan chuckled, leaning closer, his breath warm against my ear. "At least it's settled, right?"
"Yeah," I said softly, feeling the weight of his proximity, the way his body seemed to wrap around mine protectively. "They finally talked things out. Adonis actually said he was proud of her. I've never seen him like that before.” I paused, glancing between them. "It was... hard to watch, but good in the end."
Tristan gave me a gentle nudge, his voice softer now. "I'm glad they worked it out, but I still can't shake this feeling. We haven't been able to reach anyone from Alaska, and it's been too long."
Nathan's smile faltered, his brow furrowing. "He's right. I've been trying to contact them all day, and nothing. Not even a blip. It's weird, Ella. Something's off."
I swallowed the small knot of worry that formed in my chest and squeezed
Tristan's hand. “Everything will be okay. We'll get home, and everything will be fine. I'm sure it's just a glitch or something."
Nathan gave me a small nod, but the tension in his eyes didn't fade. "Let's hope you're right."
I leaned back into the seat, feeling their comforting presence on either side of me. Tristan's fingers intertwined with mine, a silent gesture of reassurance, while Nathan's hand drifted down my arm, grounding me in the moment. Despite the unease, there was an intimacy between us, an unspoken bond that always seemed to grow stronger, no matter the circumstances.
Nathan leaned in closer, pressing a soft kiss against my temple. "You always know how to calm me down," he murmured, his voice low, meant only for me.
"And you always know how to keep me on my toes," I replied, my smile lingering as I rested my head against his shoulder. Tristan's thumb brushed over the back of my hand, his touch steady, warm, always there.
For a brief moment, I let myself relax, cocooned in their presence, in the quiet space we had created between us. It was these little moments, the way they both held me, both physically and emotionally, that made everything else feel manageable—even when the world around us seemed to be spiraling.
But as the plane began to cruise through the sky, Nathan shifted, his gaze darkening. "Still can't shake the feeling that something's wrong. We should've heard from them by now."
"I know," I whispered, trying to keep my voice steady. "We'll figure it out when we land."
A polite voice interrupted us. "Would you care for a drink?"
I looked up at the flight attendant, a perfectly neutral smile plastered on her face. But something about the way she stood, the intensity of her gaze, made my skin crawl. Her eyes... they were off. They flickered with an energy that wasn't hers, almost as though someone else was looking through them. My heart raced as an eerie chill crept down my spine.
For a moment, it felt like the air was sucked out of the room. I forced myself to stay calm, scanning her face for any hint of an explanation. But I couldn't shake the strange feeling, as if someone or something-was watching me from behind her eyes.
"No, thank you," I said, keeping my voice steady.
The attendant lingered for a beat longer than necessary before moving on to the next row. I released a breath I hadn't realized I was holding and immediately reached out through the mind-link to the twins.
Something's wrong. Don't drink anything, don't eat anything. Stay alert.
Nathan was the first to respond, his voice sharp and focused. What do you mean? Did you sense something?
The flight attendant, I replied, trying to calm the storm of anxiety building inside me. There's something off about her. I don't know what it is, but I think we need to stay vigilant.noveldrama
Tristan chimed in, his tone low and dangerous. We're with you. No one drinks or eats a thing until we're off this plane.
I glanced around, heart pounding, trying to maintain the appearance of calm. My eyes followed the flight
attendant as she moved up and et
down the aisle, offering drinks to passengers who were blissfully unaware. I leaned back in my seat, every nerve on edge, and closed my
eyes-not to sleep, but to center myself.
The twins were close, their presence steadying me through the bond. Keep your eyes on her, but don't make it obvious, I warned them. Something feels wrong, and I don't want to take any chances.
The hours dragged on, every small movement in the cabin heightened by the tension gnawing at me. Every smile the flight attendant gave felt like a mask. I couldn't shake the sensation of being watched. It was as if we were walking into a trap and didn't even know it.
Finally, the plane began its descent. The seatbelt light clicked on, and I felt a small measure of relief knowing we were almost back on solid ground. For the first time, I let myself relax, just a little.
As the plane touched down, the familiar jolt of landing pulled me from my thoughts. The passengers began gathering their things, preparing to disembark. I grabbed my bag, keeping my movements deliberate, cautious.
The twins moved ahead of me in the aisle, their eyes scanning the surroundings with the same wariness felt. Just before stepping off the plane, I turned one last time. The flight attendant stood by the exit, her smile as polished and professional as before. But as I passed her, she leaned in slightly, her voice a low whisper meant only for me.
"Enjoy the surprise we've prepared for you."
