Chapter 87
While I was lost in the thoughts and was struggling to understand Alpha Rambo's scheme I was startled when Sara called me.
"Ella," she screamed and I rushed toward her. A wave of anxiety washed over me as I saw her hunched over a couch.
"What happened? Are you alright?" I asked anxiously.
"I think something is very wrong here." she said as she was still pacing all round
the living room.
"You still think." I replied.
"Shut up, smart ass." She snapped.
I couldn't help but smile at her.
She moved towards the far corner of the room where she must have noticed something on the wall.
"Damn it,” Sara muttered, quickly yanking the device from the wall's perch and smashing it onto the floor. Pieces of shattered plastic scattered across the floor like broken promises.
"There's another one," she growled, pulling a second camera from behind a
curtain and then one more from above the wardrobe. Within minutes, they were all destroyed, crushed underfoot. My eyes widened. "How many of those things were in here?"
"Enough for him to hear every word we say," she said, kicking the broken pieces aside. she turned to face me, her expression hard. "We have to be more careful."
I nodded, and for a moment, the room was silent, save for the soft hum of the overhead fan. Then I broke the silence.
"He is up to something." I whispered.
"Indeed, there must be something he wants desperately." Sara replied.
I nodded in agreement.
"But what?" I said in frustration.
"That's a mystery." she said.
"A mystery I might uncover in today's meeting." I replied and saw Sara's confused expressions.
"What do you mean? What meeting?" She asked.
"A meeting with Alpha Rambo's son, Ryan. He told me that I wanted to know more about the white wolves. I can meet him at eight tonight and get that information. So if I am going I can ask Ryan more about his father's intentions." I said and saw Sara's expression changed.
"You are talking about Alpha Rambo's son. Are you out of your mind? Why would he tell you anything about his father?" she exclaimed.
"Yes, I know but I feel that there is something between the two. There is no harmony between and I can feel it in my bones." I tried to calm fuming Sara.
"It's London and the only thing I can feel in my bones is cold. So please stop this. You can not believe someone like that. And now when we are completely alone and the twins are out. Do you really think this is a good idea?" She looked at me and her expressions softened.
"I know it sounds crazy," I said softly. "But Ryan reached out to me. He didn't have to do that, Sara. He has no reason to, unless he wants something from us—or wants to help. And I think it's the former."
"Or it's a trap," she countered. "You think Alpha Rambo's son would go against his father just like that? They're a pack, Ella. Loyalty runs in their veins."
"Not always," I said, holding her gaze. "I think there's more going on between them than we realize."
Sara crossed her arms, biting her lower lip. She always did that when she was considering something, battling between her instincts and logic.
"I don't like this," she muttered. "At all."
"I don't either," I admitted. "But I'm going. We've been in the dark for too long, and
if Ryan can give us even a sliver of insight, we need it."
Sara looked away, staring out of the window as the sun dipped lower casting shadows across the room. "What if you don't come back? Twins are going to kill me." Her voice was quieter now, fear creeping in.
"No they won't. If I'm not back by ten, you'll know something's wrong. You'll come
for me. I trust you, Sara. You're the strongest one out of all of us."
She snorted.
"You really think you'll make it back?" she asked, turning toward me again.
"I have to," I said firmly, stepping closer. "For all of us."
She hesitated, then finally nodded, though I could see the battle still raging behind her eyes. "Fine. But don't think I won't drag you out of there I have to. I don't care who's in the way, Ryan, his father, the
whole damn pack."
I smiled, relieved. "I'd expect nothing less."
"But if you're not back by ten," she started, her voice hardening, "I'll come. And
trust me, Ella, there won't be any negotiations when I do."
I reached out, squeezing her hand. "Deal."
Sara sighed, pulling me into a quick, tight hug. "Be careful. I hate this."
"I know," I whispered. "I'll be back. I promise."
As I pulled away, she looked at me one last time, her eyes full of worry. "You better be."
After negotiating a deal with Sara, I decided that I should get ready.
Not ready, ready. But different type of ready. As we don't have our bags, that had
all kinds of safety materials inside. I needed to be creative and as everyone knew.
I have been smart for all my life, noveldrama
keeping myself safe from roaming hands was not an easy task. So I always keep things that would be helpfuDand one of those things was a pocket knife. And it was not a simple pocket knife, this was laced with silver. One cut could be tragic
to them.
I smiled as I looked at myself in the mirror, my eyes shined and I knew Ava was happy with the decision I made.
We both needed this and I knew Tristan and Nathan would be angry at me for this decision.
But I also knew that they would understand. I just hoped that they were safe
wherever they were and hoping to find some answers.
I took a deep breath and said goodbye to Sara and slipped from the room quietly.
I Looked around myself, if anyone was following, there were none.
What do you think?
