Chapter 436 Nothing To Do With The Bai Family
Chapter 436 Nothing To Do With The Bai Family
Sure enough, as Jean reached near the two men, she immediately heard Moore's angry and low-
pitched voice directed towards the other person. "I have told you! I don't want anything to do with the
Bai Family anymore! You go back there and you tell Gary that he better give up right now! I am never
coming back! I don't care what he says or what he feels. And I don't care what tactics he employs, I am
not going to give in or compromise what I feel. And I am not going to recognize him as my father
anymore."
'Give in or compromise?' Jean was utterly shocked by what she was hearing. Then she understood,
'Yeah, since Moore doesn't want to go back home, Gary is certainly going to keep worrying about him
all the time.
What's more, Gary's patience and persistence in trying to bring Moore back is upsetting Moore. I think
that is why Moore tried to get discharged early that day. It was because Gary had come to see him but
Moore didn't want to see Gary anymore.'
"Hey, what's going on over here?" Jean called out to the two men engaged in a battle of words. She
hurried over and blocked Gary's subordinate, Levi Li as she stared at him unhappily. "Don't you
understand plain and simple English? Moore just said that he wants nothing to do with the Bai family
anymore! So you go back and you tell your boss that Moore lives in the Qi Mansion now and is
protected by the Qi family. And before he reacts harshly, I strongly advise him to ponder over his
actions or I won't be held responsible for being rude to him!" She roared at the man standing in front of
her.
When Levi Li heard Jean's words, his face suddenly grew gloomy, and there was confusion in his eyes.
He looked at Jean thoughtfully and thought in puzzlement. 'Who is this woman? How is she so
outspoken? Who gave her the right to interfere in the affairs of the Bai family?'
Moore on the other hand was taken by shock on hearing what Jean had said. He tried to interfere as he
stood behind her. "Jean...."
However, he was totally ignored and Jean paid no attention to his words. 'You silly girl! Can't you
imagine how much trouble Zed is going to get into from your words?' Moore thought helplessly.
"Hey, didn't you hear what I just said?" Jean repeated herself impatiently when she saw that Levi
wasn't relenting or moving at all. What made her so much angrier was the fact that even after saying
this much to him, Levi wasn't showing any signs or intentions of responding to her command at all.
"Excuse me, but who are you?" It took a long silence but finally, Levi couldn't control himself anymore
and asked directly.
"Who am I? You don't know who I am?" Jean looked at him in surprise, as if she had seen a ghost or
an alien.
Even though she was not a celebrity, the video incident on the Internet about her had been discussed
animatedly all over social media and the Internet. And after that many discussions, she had thought
that she was now known by everyone in the entire H City.
"I am sorry. I am just back here from the Imperial Capital with Mr. Gary. I don't know anyone here." Levi
Li lowered his head, as he explained.
Jean stared at him in silence for a long time before she could squeeze a few words out from under her
teeth. "I'm Zed Qi's wife!" she replied. And evidently that much information was enough, as could be
seen from Levi's reply.
"Oh, Mrs. Qi. I have heard a lot about you," Levi Li said politely. Although his face did assume a sudden
look of shock, but there was still no fluster.
Jean had doubts in her eyes. 'If even his subordinate is so polite, then one can easily deduce Gary's
sternness to the people around him. What's more, it also portrays his good character and demeanor.
But why is Hanley, the son of Gary's second wife, so annoying?' she wondered.
"You don't need to flatter or compliment me. You simply go back and tell Mr. Gary what I just told you. I
hope you understood my words. Or do I need to repeat them?" Jean waved impatiently to Levi Li.
"Yes Mrs. Qi, it would be my pleasure to pass on your words to my boss." Levi Li finished and nodded
politely to Moore. Then he turned around and strode away.
Jean watched his back as he got into a stark black Audi and even after he had started the engine, she
didn't withdraw her gaze until the car had disappeared from view. Then she turned around to look at
Moore in confusion. "Moore, it seems that Gary is not a simple man. Even his subordinate is so polite. I
think he is going to be at least ten times politer than that Hanley!"
But Moore didn't care whether the people around Gary were polite or not. "Let's forget that for now,
Jean. Tell me, you silly girl, why did you involve Zed and yourself in this affair?" He looked at her with a
worried face and sighed.
"Take it easy, Moore. When I invited you to stay in my house, it was firstly and mainly because I wanted
to help you escape and avoid the harassment you'd be facing from the Bai family. And if you don't want
to go back there, then no one can force you to do that, not if I have something to do with it. Besides, do
you think if I hadn't told Gary, then he wouldn't have found out that you live in the Qi Mansion on his
own? It was just a matter of time." Jean smiled at Moore.
"Yeah, you're right but still, I think it's going to get you into too much trouble than I would like." Moore
was rather uneasy about the whole affair.
"Am I not your friend? Do you not consider me that?" Jean patted him heavily on the shoulder with
displeasure.
"Of course I consider you my friend. My best friend so far perhaps." Moore did not hesitate to nod in
affirmation.
"Very Good! Since we are friends, then you should not treat me as an outsider, or else I am going to
get angry with you. You must remember this." Jean pretended to be angry and looked at Moore with a
serious face.
Moore sighed deeply in his heart. He knew that Jean was doing all this just to help him.
And he knew that was exactly why she had invited him to stay in the Qi Mansion.
But even after that, when Moore found out that Gary's subordinate could easily locate him no matter
where he stayed, he suddenly felt a little uneasy.

never gotten a chance to relax.
Now that her life had finally calmed down a little, he really didn't want her to have any more problems,
and was hoping that she could live happily for at least a little while. Therefore, it was looking as if he
really shouldn't have agreed to stay just because Zed also had come out to persuade him.
'Now you regret it?
Regretting it is useless now. No use crying over spilled milk, Moore!' He grinned bitterly in his heart.
"Come on, don't take it too seriously. Moore, you never gave up on me earlier when I was in trouble,
and now I am not going to give up on you or ignore you at such a time either!" Jean reassured him
sincerely.
"I see." Moore nodded as he heard her promise. Even though he was still regretting choosing to stay in
the Qi mansion, he wasn't going to show it as it would have meant disappointing Jean.
"I have already said goodbye to my colleagues at the company just now. Then let's stop for some
delicious food on the way back! Wait a minute. I just have to make a phone call." Jean smiled at Moore.
"Okay." Moore nodded and got inside the car first.
Jean took out her cell phone and quickly dialed Maranda's number.
The phone had rung only twice before Maranda picked it up. It was like she was just sitting a few steps
away from the phone. She exclaimed in a happy and excited voice. "Jean, I saw today's newspaper. It's
so amazing! Shirley was caught by the police! Yay! I wanted to call you, but Ron stopped me and told
me not to disturb you as you would be resting."
Faced with Maranda's exhilaration, Jean felt a lot calmer.
She waited for her to finish speaking before she softly popped the question. "Maranda, why did you
resign from the company?"
"Why did I resign?" Apparently, Maranda's mind went blank at first when she heard the question, but
then she responded quickly. "Yeah Jean, I resigned. I didn't think you'd be going back to the company
anymore now, and it wasn't going to be much fun over there without you. So I resigned. But, how did
you come to know that?"
"Well I was bound to find out! Besides, I am calling from the company office's building right now." Jean
rolled her eyes at once. "I wanted to come here to see you, but they told me you didn't work here
anymore. Why didn't you tell me?"
"I heard that you were very busy these days and I was afraid that if I bothered your rest for such a trifle,
Mr. Qi was going to kill me." Maranda laughed awkwardly.
"Come on, Don't I know the kind of person you are? You must have been busy dating Ron and
forgotten everything! And that is why even I, your oldest friend didn't get to know that!" Jean rebuked
her.
"Honey, I swear to God. How can I possibly not want you know such a thing? Even if I didn't have
myself with me, I wouldn't get far without you!" When Maranda heard Jean say that, she became
anxious at once and started becoming incoherent, blabbering several compliments and loving gestures
at once and Jean could hardly control her laughter.
It was almost as if her mouth had hung over a really complex tongue twister. "Do you really value me
that much?" Trying hard to suppress herself from laughing out loud, Jean asked.
"Yes Jean. And if you don't believe me, I can show you my heart!" Maranda replied with a rather
cheesy dialogue without thinking.
