Chapter 481 Afraid Of Me Being Too Close To You
Chapter 481 Afraid Of Me Being Too Close To You
Seeing that Jade and Jean were still happily involved in their cheerful chats, Zed couldn't help giving a
smile on the two women's bond. He patted her on the shoulder. "Jean, it's already past ten, you should
go to bed..."
"Is it that late already?" Jade didn't realize how time had flown. She looked up at Jean and said,"Good
heavens, it really is! Jean, you should go to bed now. It's not good for you or your baby to stay up so
late."
"All right." Jean nodded, gave a smile to Sean and Jade and bid her goodnight. "Father, mother, bye! I'll
go sleep now!"
"Okay." Sean nodded.
"Good night." Jade waved at Jean.
With Zed taking Jean to their bedroom holding her arm, only Jade and Sean were left in the living
room.
And not long after, Jade's face turned dark and gloomy and her smile disappeared. She walked back
upstairs without a glance at Sean.
Sean merely put on a bitter smile but didn't say anything.
After being married to her for so many years, he knew very well how angry and furious his wife would
be if he tried to calm her down when she was in a mood.
Upstairs, as soon as Zed and Jean entered the room, Jean immediately closed the door, sighed, and
looked at Zed with a worried glance. "Zed, what do we do? If Mother sees Edna, she is going to be
really mad. And if she finds out who Moore really is, especially in the mood she is right now, all hell is
going to break loose in the mansion! What do we do? Do we tell her the truth now? Will that stop her
from getting angrier later on?"
"No! We can't tell her yet. Though, I've asked father to take extra care that she doesn't find out. Let's
just focus on the positive side for this moment and forget what could go wrong." Zed tired to comfort
her. "We should not overthink it. It's no use worrying about something that hasn't happened yet. What's
bound to happen will happen. Right now, you go take a shower and sleep. I can see how tired you
really are after today."
"Okay." Jean agreed immediately. Zed was right. Overthinking would only add to her troubles.
She took out her bathrobe and walked towards the bathroom.
After she had finished showering, she walked back into the bedroom and saw Zed lying on the bed,
with his eyes closed.
Pity and guilt flashed through her mind.
'Zed was busy with his work during the daytime. After work, he had to hurry to the hospital to pick me
up. That left him really tired and exhausted and the toll it was taking was clearly visible in how sleepy
he was. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
What about me?
I have just kept bringing troubles on his way and had kept on making him worried. He has been
clearing up the mess I have been bringing home all the time and has never said anything.'
Guilt welled up in Jean's mind. Unconsciously and involuntarily, she reached out a hand and began to
stroke his face.
When her finger was feeling his tender skin, she let out a deep breath.
"Why do you sigh when touching my face? Is it not smooth? Am I pointy?"
Jean was really startled. She nervously looked at Zed who had just opened his eyes and said,"I am
sorry. Did I wake you up? I didn't mean to do that."
"It's okay. I had just snoozed." Zed looked at Jean with smiling eyes and asked,"Have you finished
showering?"
"Yes." Jean nodded and said,"Now it's your turn, you dirty boy. Come back quick, okay? Don't take too
long..."
"Okay." Zed nodded and sat up from the bed. For some reason, Jean looked nervous, seeing which, he
asked with a smile,"What's the matter? Are you afraid of me being too close to you?"
He moved even closer deliberately. Jean's nervous and shy aura was enjoyable at such times.
Her face immediately changed and she leaned backwards accordingly. "Zed, stop kidding me..." Jean
chided him angrily.
"I'm not! I just want to be close to you." Zed gave a wink. He was deliberately irritating her.
"Don't you know that..." Jean was looking more and more nervous since Zed did not appear to be
kidding.
Seeing that she was getting scared, Zed sighed and wrapped his hands around her. "Don't worry. I was
just teasing you. It was just a joke. I didn't mean anything by it."
Jean felt relieved upon hearing that, but she looked at him sharply anyway and angrily rebuked him.
"Don't ever do that again, Zed. You really scared me."
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry. I won't." Zed promised, leaning forward to land a gentle kiss on her cheek. "Now,
I'm gonna take a shower. You go to sleep okay? Don't wait up. Have a good night."
He got off the bed and went into the bathroom.
As the sound of flowing water came inside, Jean's face started getting more and more serious every
second.
Her mind was messy and she couldn't sort things out.
After several minutes of restless efforts to fall asleep, she finally dozed off in a troubled, entangled
sleep with furrowed eyebrows.
Zed came out of the bathroom a few minutes after that and saw Jean's furrowed brows under the dim
night-lamp. He crawled into the bed and held her in his arms. Seeing her so worried made him anxious.
After a few minutes, he also dozed off with a sigh.
The entire night, Jean didn't sleep well and woke up the instant the first rays of dawn hit the room's
windows. When she saw Zed's arms wrap around her, her suspended heart slowly dropped.
For some reason, the sight of Zed's face made having a baby feel even more amazing than she had
ever felt before.
The thought seemed to make her heart smile as her entire body glowed with the ecstasy of being a
mother.
Uncontrollably, she landed a kiss splat on Zed's face with her eyes closed. She was enjoying the
moment.
All she wanted right now was to let all troubles and worries fall away and stay in her husband's arms
the entire day.
After several minutes, or an hour, she didn't know which, she moved back
and saw Zed gazing at her with smiling eyes. She blinked and blushed.
When she got sure that Zed was awake, she blushed a deep crimson. Embarrassed, she wished
him,"Good morning."
"Good morning," Zed sleepily replied. He held her even closer in his arms and whispered in her
ears,"Darling, I like the way you woke me up."
'I didn't mean to wake you up like that.'
Jean's face was getting even redder. She looked at him and mumbled,"Honey, since you are awake
now, let's get up!"
"There's no need to rush. We rarely get to stay asleep so late. Let's enjoy the moment while it lasts."
Zed stopped her from getting up.
Jean didn't want to get up either so she also just let herself be in his arms.
"About last night, I should say sorry." After thinking about it, she told Zed.
"Sorry? About what?" Zed looked at her in surprise. He couldn't understand why she had to say sorry.
"If it wasn't for Moore, we wouldn't have met Edna. It was only last night that I came to know that even
her name is a taboo in your family. I'm afraid I may have broken the peace of your family." Jean guiltily
apologized.
"Jean, I don't understand what you're talking about." Zed smiled slightly and comforted her. "You mean
to say that Moore is your friend and he is involved with Edna. Is that true? I'm telling you Jean. You had
nothing to do with that and you couldn't have stopped it from happening. Stop blaming yourself. Don't
worry."
"How can you say something like that? Of course, it is my fault!" Jean got anxious and said,"If I hadn't
hit Moore, I wouldn't have met him and become friends with him..."
"Stop saying that. If Moore gets to know that, he is going to be upset." Zed interrupted her apology and
stopped her from continuing.
