Be My Wifey Or Lose Your Job

Chapter 24 So proud of you, wifey

My eyes widened and my stomach tingled.

What the….

The culprit is here?.

“George.”I called without looking at him.

He seems so clueless. He is staring at the car but not the important thing – it plate number.

“Yeah? What’s going on? “He questioned.

“Call the police.”I said.

I turned to him and saw him looking at me uncertain.

“Just… call the police. Trust me. Tell them to come over real quick.”

“Well.. okay, but, for what?, why?.”

“You will understand it later. What’s the time?.”

He glanced at his wristwatch and replied me.

“That’s past the time for the trial. I will get going now. Stay back and call the police.”I instructed.

“But..”

“No but, George. Just do the damn the thing you’re asked to do. This is a murderer here we are talking about. Make the damn calls and get to the courtroom when you done.”I retorted and started walking away.

I already told Diana to handle the trial and provided her with the necessary documents.

There just seem to be more to this.

Someone tried to kill me and now, the person is here.

The question here now is “who could it be”

I requested to come here because I wanted to explain things – especially the accident to the judge because I felt like he might want to dimiss this case.

I took the stairs and headed to the camera room.

I opened the door and the man in charge turned to me.

“Miss Jan… sorry, Mrs McFarland?. What happened to you?.”he asked worriedly as he stood up.

“I need to check something out, do you mind helping?.”I asked.

“Of… of course, ma’am.”he replied.

I went to sat down on the seat beside his and he also took his seat.

“I want to see the record before 10:00 am at the parking lot.”I said and he nodded and typed away on the system then finally, the video popped up.

“Here is it.”he muttered.

I moved closer to it and stared intently at the vid.

There’s no sign of the car coming in.

“Fast forward.”i instructed.

He nodded and started to fast forward it.

The video moved in flash but I make noticed of every movement of the cars.

It got to a point and it showed where a car was driving in.

“Stop!.”

He paused it and turned to me.

“Back the video, a little..”

He did exactly as he was told.

It’s the same car with the one that hits me.

But, one thing remains..

The number on the plate. That’s the most important thing.

“Zoom in.”I said and he zoomed in.

I read the plate number and snapped my fingersBelongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

“Yes!. Gotcha!.”I sighed.

“Continue.”I said to him.

He resumed playing the video.

The person went to park the car and then opened the door and he got down.

What the hell!.

My eyes popped out of it sockets and covered my mouth with my palm.

The lawyer!.

The lawyer of the defendant.

“Is… something wrong?.”he asked and I scoffed.

“Everything is wrong.”I said and sprang up.

Bet the man is now looking at me weirdly now.

I walked out and headed to the courtroom.

“Your honor, the…”Diana was saying when I stepped in.

I started walking to the front and the people turned to look at me.

*That’s her. I told you you would see her when we come here. She got married to George last month*someone said as I walked passed them.

“Your honor.”I called with a tone of urgency.

The judge, Diana and the lawyer turned to me.

I didn’t miss the shock the lawyer has on his stupid face.

“What are you all doing there to have allow her to..”the man beside the judge was saying but the judge interrupted him.

“Wait. You’re the prosecutor handling this case before, right?.”he asked and I nodded.

“They said you’re at the hospital, badly wounded. So, what are you doing here.”he added.

He didn’t give me any moment to reply him as he said again.

“You know very about not breaking the rules surrounding this courtroom than to just move to the front without being called and interrupting the trial.”

“Is it about breaking the rules or, about having a murderer as a lawyer?.”I asked with a scoff.

The judge adjusted his glasses and passed me a frown.

The police walked towards me and tried to get me away from the place.

“Leave her.”he ordered.

They left me.

“Now, will you shed more light on your words, please?.”

“Your Honor, this is…”the lawyer said as he stood up.

“Remain seated, attorney Porter.”the judge shut him off.

He sat down slowly. His countenance was giving him off.

“Continue, please.”the judge turned to me and said.

“The man over there,”I started and pointed towards Porter.

“Tried to kill me and the defendant daughter yesterday.”I continued.

Murmurs broke out from the people.

*What?.*

*He tried to kill her?.*

*Oh my God.*

The judge banged his banged his gavel on the table.

“Decorum please!.”

The murmurs stopped.

The door opened and I turned to see George walking in.

I raised my brow at him in question if he’d called the police and he nodded

“I went through alot of things about this man lately and I noticed he stole because of his daughter, which is of course still a crime, but, the man he stole from has decided to forgive him when he learned that he stole because of his daughter.”I explained as I silently prayed that George will not oppose my words cause he haven’t forgive him.

I sighed in relief when he didn’t say anything.

“Now, permit me to do my duty as a prosecutor, your honor.”I requested and he gave me a ‘go ahead nod’.

“Attorney Porter,”I called

The door sprawled opened and the cops marched in.

Just at the right time!.

“You’re under arrest for the attempted murder of Mrs McFarland and the defendant’s daughter…. you already know your rights so there’s no need to list them out to you since you’re a lawyer.”I said and the police came and put handcuffs around his hands.

They took him out of the room and the people started murmuring again.

The judge hits his gavel on the table.

“That was smart, attorney Janelle. Keep up the good work.”he said and stood up and I bowed as he went out of sight.

I’mmediately, I felt like a huge stone was lifted off my head.

I sighed and threw my head back.

Diana rushed towards me.

“Oh, are you okay, Janelle?.”she asked.

“Of course I am.”I replied.

“Sorry I had to put the today’s trial on you before any prior notice.”I apologized and she scoffed.

“Oh, please..”she rolled her eyes.

The defendant stalked towards me and smiled out tears.

“Thank you.”he said.

“It’s okay. I’m only doing my job.”I replied.

“Okay, i will leave you two.”Diana said and left.

“Where’s my daughter, is she alright?, can I go see her?.”he rushed his words.

“Of course. She’s not badly injured so keep your mind at rest.”I replied.

A police came by and I nodded upon seeing him.

“They will return your belongings back to you. Jameson hospital, that’s where your daughter is.”I explained and he nodded.

“Thanks for making me a free man..”he sniffed and I smiled.

“Stop thanking me because I did my job.”I said.

He smiled and the police led him away.

“I don’t remember telling you that I’ve forgiven him.”George sounded behind me and I turned back.

“Well….?.”I smiled.

“Well….?.”he scoffed.

“C’mon George.”I smiled and he grinned.

“I’m so proud of you, wifey. I made the right choice by choosing a woman like you. I love you.”

“I love you more.”I replied and went to him then started kissing him.

The people around oohed and started taking pictures of us.

Ren apologized to Diana and promised her he would stopped being a play boy again and she forgive him and life moves on with love all around it.
