Oh, God!.

I ran for some minutes and soon, I found myself in front of the restaurant.

Oh, sweet Jesus.

I turn back and when I didn’t get any whiff of the guy, I stopped running.

Oh… that was huge.

I guess he must have left after realizing we’ve gotten to where people are mostly are.

I panted heavily then breathed out.

I moved my eyes to the restaurant and it met with Josh’s.

He was staring at me through the glass wall.

He had this worried look on his face.

I waved at him before I breathed out a sigh again and them walking inside the restaurant.

I went meet him where he sat and he stood up immediately.

“What happened?.. you have sweats on your face..”he asked.

“Huh?. Well, this is nothing.”i lied as I sat down.

“I don’t believe,”he said while sitting down.

“You looked like someone who had run down here.. I mean, look. at your shirt, it looks wet.”he added as he pointed at my shirt.

I glanced down at my shirt and he was actually right.

“I guess I’m not so good with lies.”I smiled and carried the bottled water on the transparent table glass then uncovered it and gulped it down.

“Why?, is someone chasing you?.”he further asked.

“Yeah, a strange guy just kept following me..”I shrugged.

“Strange guy?, and why would he be following you. Do you know him?.”

“No, of course. Do you think if I’d know him, I wouldn’t have run.”I scoffed.

I snapped my fingers at the waitress and she stalked towards us.

“Good afternoon, ma’am. What would you like to take.”she politely asked.

“Uhm… please, give me a plate of drop biscuits and gravy and with an orange juice.”

Janelle’s mom..

“Uhm.. Janelle, you know I’m your mother, right? So, I believe you would obey my every words. Truth is, I want you to get married to a rich guy. His name is George.”I recited aloud while trying to look for the perfect way to tell Janelle to marry the son of the woman that came here the other day.

“Oh, no, no. That is too straight forward.. Janelle, you know I love you, right?. And, I simply want the best for you.. so that’s the reason I betroth you to a rich man. Trust me, he’s rich enough to get you promotion at your office and…”

Gosh!..

This is so hard.

That will probably hurt her.

“Janelle. What do you think?, getting married to a rich guy?.. I already pledged my troth to his mother.”

No!. That’s too straight forward.

I can’t just seem to get the right word!.

Ugh!. I think I’m going crazy.

She is probably on her way now and I’m still yet to know how to start the conversation with her.

“Hey, Janelle?. I…”

I was interrupted by the jingling of the bells..

I turned back and saw a customer walking in.

Okay. This will be the end of my practice.

“Welcome..”I greeted as I moved behind the counter.

George’s Pov..

“George.”mom’s friend called and I glanced up at her.

She came with her daughter to have breakfast with us and trust me, I don’t like it one bit.

What i hate most is the sexy looks her daughter keep throwing at me..

“I heard you are still single and well, my daughter here is single also, so, I was wondering if you guys can work things out between yourselves. I mean, you would be a perfect couple.”she expounded.

I took my eyes to the girl and she blushed.

Gross..

“Really?.”I asked with a scoff.

“Yeah, why?. You don’t like the idea?.”she asked.

“I think mom is yet to tell you that I already have a wife of my own.”I said as my eyes traveled to mom’s.

She stared back at me and shrugged.

“Anyways, it’s all good. You’ve know that now, so, let’s this be the last time you would bring up a discussion like this.. and.. I think I already lost my appetite.. bye.”I stated as politely that I could be then stand up.

I left the dining area and went up to my room.

Janelle’s POV

I pushed the door opened and stepped inside the convenience store.

“Wel…”mom was saying as she typed away on the computer but she paused when she raised hee head and realized I was the one.

“Oh, Jan. It’s you.”she smiled.

“Yeah…”I folded my lips.

“Give me a minute…”mom said and I nodded.

My phone vibrate in my bag and I opened it and brought it out.

It was a text message from Diana.

*Hey. Do you want to grab a drink with me?.”she asked.

Huh?.

Why did she want to have a drink with me so suddenly..

Did something happened to her?.

I pressed my lips together before typing back…*nope.. I’m at my mom’s store.*I replied.

*Okay.*she dropped the conversation.

“Here. Take this. You must be hungry.”mom said as she walked over to me and proffered a sealed plastic of noodles to me..

“No, I’m okay.. I have a lot to eat at lunch today.”I shook my head.

“Oh, okay then. Let’s go inside the storage.”she said while walking towards the storage and I followed right behind her.

She opened the door and got in and I also did.

She sat down on the bench and I dropped my bag on the table and moved to where she sat and sat down beside her.

“I’m sorry, Janelle. I know you WI probably hate me now, but, I think I deserve it.”she started while looking at me with a soft look.

What’s she saying?..

“What are you talking about, mom. What’s with the hate part?.. I don’t get you.. I can never hate you.”I replied, befuddled.

“I… I… promise you won’t hate me when you hear this. Promise you will hear me out first.”I stuttered.

I gazed at her for some minutes before nodding my head.

“I promise. Just spit the word out already..”I asked impatiently.

What does she have to tell me that she’s scared that I will hate her.

“I.. I.. have done something I shouldn’t have and trust me, I’m full with regrets now… I really regret my action…”she said and a tear drop down from her eyes.

Okay?..

“Mom!. Please, just tell me what you’ve done.. I believe it wouldn’t be that of a big deal, so stop crying… will you?.. unless you want me to do the same also..”I said as I rubbed my palm against her’s.

She breathed out and cleaned her tears.

“I.. I gave you out as someone’s wife, Janelle.. oh, how foo lish i sound right now…”she dropped the bombshell.

I took my hand away from her and scoffed.

No, this can’t be…

She’s probably joking..

“Mom, sto…”

“No, Janelle. For real, I married you off.”mom cut me across my words.

My eyes popped out of its sockets and I scoffed then ruffled my hair.

“I still don’t believe you…”I shook my head.

“I’m really sorry but it was for the best.. I want the best for you.”she sobbed quitely.

I batted my lashes then turned away from her gaze.

“That night, when u was going out on a date.. is that the reason why you asked me that question?.. about being someone’s requested wife?.”I asked while praying silently it wouldn’t be.

“Yes.”she answered.

“The woman I told you about, the one who compliment you.. she’s the mother of the man.”she added.

Woah.

I sprang up and sniffed in.

“How… how could you, mom?.. how could you..”I choked on my tears.

“You know how much I hate to settle down now, and what?… it isn’t even as if I will be getting married to someone I loved but?.. but?.. a random man?.. a man you haven’t even seen, I guess. How dare you betroth me to a random guy!… you don’t even know him, what if he’s a beast, huh?.. or a monster probably… I’m.. I’m sorry, mom.. but I’m really disappointed in you…”I cried out and nabbed my bag from the table.

“No, you promised to hear me out, Janelle. Don’t just walk out on me, please…”she begged.

I paused for a second..

“I’m going back on my words this time..”I said before stomping out of the storage.

Mom yelled my name behind me but I didn’t answer her.

I got out of the store and snivelled.

Oh, God!.

Tell me this isn’t true.

I brought my phone and went to I and Diana’s chat.

With my tears blocking my vision, I typed. *Let’s grab a drink together. I’ll be there in a jiffy.*

I sniffed in then insert my phone in my bag.

The cloud rumbled and soon, there was a downpour of water.

##

George’s Pov.

We were still on the road when it started raining.

I brought out my phone and logged in on my Instagram account.

A phone started ringing out of s sudden and I looked up to see it was Ren’s own.

He took a quick glance at it then sighed.

“Boss, it’s the guard.”he announced and my eyes shone.

“Pick it up.”I ordered.

He nodded then took the phone and swiped to the right.

“Hey.”he said.

“Oh?, she’s there alone?.”

“Oh, okay. Thanks, buddy.”he said then hang up.

“What did he say?.”I asked immediately he dropped the call.

“He said the girl is drinking alone inside a bar..”he said.

“Did he mention the name of bar?.”I asked and he nodded.

“Take me there.”I said.

“Huh?, but, you could catch up a cold… your body usually react to…”

“It’s an order, Ren, not a request. Take me there, now!.”
