Chapter 1870
From what he remembered, it wasn't his first time seeing that. However, those memories seemed to be blurry and distant.
In an instant, Nicholas felt that the young girl before him was quite interesting. It had been a long time since he last saw her, and she seemed to be getting younger and younger.
Based on what she was wearing, those who didn't know her would have thought she was a fresh high school graduate. She seemed so pure and naive. The pink dress she was wearing totally matched her, and she also had the grace of a noble princess. She was absolutely gorgeous.
After looking around, Caroline stepped forward while lifting the hem of her skirt. "I want to dance! Can you dance with me? I mean, can I dance with you?"
"Huh?" Was there any difference?
The sudden invitation shocked Nicholas. He didn't quite believe his ears for a moment and began laughing uncontrollably. Had she been following him all that while just to ask him to dance?
What was going on?
There were so many other men there. Was no one else willing to dance with her? Nicholas subconsciously looked over and thought, "This girl is so interesting!"
Caroline's face flushed red, and she didn't know what was going on. Every time she talked to him, she would get nervous. "I don't want to dance with... people that I don't know."
She subconsciously lowered her head a little while muttering, and she was anxiously wringing her tiny hands again.noveldrama
Those men would surround her and begin chatting their mouths off. Moreover, she didn't want to deal with those hypocritical praises, nor did she want to deal with them asking for her number or to go out. It was incredibly annoying! The worst part was that those men's true goal was either Frederick or Trevor. On a bigger scale, they might even be after The Four Great Masters of Casterwich City. Over the past few years, she had a feeling that she was only worthy of being used as a stepping stone for those so-called friends of hers.
It was a horrible feeling.
Therefore, she became more and more cautious when it came to making friends, regardless of their gender. She would devote her heart to protecting anyone who genuinely wanted to be her friend.
She didn't need a lot of friends. One or two were enough.
In fact, Caroline was well aware that most men only flattered, praised, and pursued her because of Trevor. If not, it would be because they wanted to take advantage of her. She was the only daughter in the Clements family aside from Hallie. However, all she wanted to do was dance peacefully. She didn't want to socialize. Most importantly, she couldn't focus on dancing with anyone else when Nicholas was around. She wanted to dance with him!
She happened to turn around. It was then that Nicholas noticed that the back of her dress was quite revealing, and a small part of her back was exposed. In a sudden moment of realization, he shrugged.
"Let's go, then."
How could she be dressed like that and still be worried that men would want to take advantage of her?
As soon as he said that, Nicholas had already gone in front of her.
"Huh?" Had he agreed?
She suddenly turned around. Caroline was clearly still in a trance. Right then, Nicholas had already put down the glass in his hand and walked quite far away from her. When he turned back, he saw that she was still stunned in the distance. He couldn't help but shake his head.
"Do you not want to dance anymore?"
The moment he spoke, a petite figure rushed over, shaking her head vehemently. She nearly fell into his arms. He instinctively reached out and grabbed her waist to help her regain her balance.
"Why are you so impatient?"
It was as if she was a younger version of Alicia. Every time he teased her, she would rush into his arms. His gaze couldn't help but soften. Nicholas waited for her to calm down before he extended his hand toward her and led her to the dance floor.
The melodious music flowed slowly. It was a waltz, which both of them quietly appreciated.
When standing face to face in front of him, Caroline could practically smell his unique, clear aura. Her soft little hands were wrapped up in his warm big palm. Caroline's heart was beating wildly as if it was about to leap out of her throat. Her red lips uncontrollably pursed together, and she secretly glanced at him from time to time. Her petite face was flushed as if it was overflowing with blood.
He was really the most handsome man she had ever seen!
He had cream colored skin and deep outlines all over his masculine body. He was full of strength and beauty exuding a strong masculine aura that was full of hormones. He wasn't the androgynous type nor the type that was prettier than a woman. Instead, she seemed to be able to get a glimpse of his well-defined muscles and lines through the suit. Nicholas being in front of her gave her a special sense of security.
He was the kind of man she liked.
He was exactly her type.
Nicholas was calm and introverted, while also being cold and handsome. There was a dominant undertone to his words, too. She was determined to draw a male lead like him in one of her comics.
Caroline was still in a daze when she suddenly heard his pleasant voice in her ear. "Did you forget who I was? Why do you keep staring?"
All of a sudden, she came to her senses and shook her head subconsciously. Right after that, her small hand, which was settled on his arm, suddenly grabbed the hem of his shirt. "Let me work with you!"
"What?"
Nicholas let out an exclamation of shock and stopped moving. He subconsciously retreated from the dance floor and pushed her away. His expression turned frosty as he warned, "Don't joke around!"
She was Trevor's only biological sister. What was she thinking? What was wrong with her?
He turned around icily and walked away.
Just as he reached a nearby pathway, a soft body suddenly rushed over and slammed into him. "I'm being honest. I want to work with you! It'll just be for three months, okay?"
Nicholas's body stiffened and his brows furrowed into a knot. He pulled her dainty hand away from him and turned around. There was an overwhelmingly sour look on his face as he said, "Do you know what you're talking about? Think about your family! Do you want me to get Trevor or Frederick to come over?" Caroline pouted and looked wronged. It was as if she was about to cry.
Immediately after that, Nicholas adjusted the open-fingered gloves on his hand
that had been knocked out of place. His voice softened. "Let's go back. I'll pretend
I didn't hear anything."
"I just want to know more about... your life at the nightclub. I can't draw something meaningful if I don't have any experience. Why won't you.
agree? You're my sister-in-l ne
brother, aren't you? I'm sure you can help me with such a little favor! You own Heaven Star Clubhouse, right? Can't I work there for free? You rejected me in the past, and now, you're rejecting me again... I'm not a child. I won't make things hard for you!"
With a terrible headache, Nicholas looked at her as if she was a monster. His expression grew darker and darker. He scolded, "Is your life too comfortable right now or something? Why would you want to go to a nightclub to gain life experience? Do you know what kind of place that is?
If she went there, she would be swallowed up. Didn't she know that the more
innocent a girl was, the more valuable she was?
"It's precisely because I don't know that I want to go there!" she insisted.
His words made Nicholas so angry that he nearly exploded. She was so naive
that she had no idea what she was getting into.
What do you think?
