Chapter 2895
"You want to kick me out, huh?"
Chester did not panic. Instead, he grinned and rubbed Cal's chubby chin, teasing Cal. He made Cal giggle, and Cal looked adorable.
Charity watched her son smile at Chester happily. Cal seemed to have become familiar with Chester within a day.
Annoyed, Charity carried her son to the other side. "Don't touch my son."
"Fine. Well, I thought I'd tell you about your mum's condition." Chester said nonchalantly, "There are some things I didn't say in front of her because I was worried she'd feel embarrassed."
Once Charity heard it, she immediately became worried. "It was my fault just now. I'm sorry for offending you. Please say it."
" 31
Charity's mood changed so quickly that it left Chester dumbfounded for two seconds. However, he could understand why. Larissa was the only person in the world to whom Charity felt most guilty. After all, Charity occupied the body of Larissa's daughter, so she would surely go all out to look after Eliza's mother.
"Your mom hasn't done a single check-up in years, has she? She has major gynecological problems, and she'd better get them treated as soon as possible. She should go for a full body check-up or something like that."
Charity's heart did a flip. Given that Larissa had been living in her hometown, how would she have done a check-up before? Then, after Larissa came to Canberra, Charity met with an accident and got pregnant. Hence, Charity never thought about the checkup. What was more, Larissa would never tell Charity if she was unwell as she did not want the latter to worry.
"Could my mom have developed cervical cancer-"
"Probably not. But from her pulse, there's certainly a major problem with her cervix. If she doesn't get it treated as soon as possible, she'll be susceptible to cervical cancer. I've seen cases like this too often in the hospital. Most of them were because the elderly were not aware of such an issue and were unwilling to spend money on it. They wouldn't even see the doctor for a minor illness because they assume it wasn't a big deal."
Chester said solemnly, "I didn't say it just now because I was worried she'd be embarrassed. After all, she's my elder, and I'm a man."
"...Thank you." Charity was filled with mixed feelings. She could not help but soften her tone. "I'll take my mom to the hospital tomorrow."
“I've pulled some strings with the director of the hospital, so you may bring your mom directly to get a check-up. The result will be out a little faster than usual too."
Charity wanted to reject him at first, but after hearing the last sentence, she nodded. "I thought you only excel in surgery. I didn't know you could check one's pulse too."
Chester never perceived himself as brilliant in his profession. However, her praise now made him feel proud of himself. "I excel in both surgery and internal medicine. Believe it or not, I have over ten certificates related to the medical field." After some thought, Charity said, "Since you're so brilliant, why don't you go back to the hospital and work? If not, it'll be a waste of your certificates."
"You want me to go back to the hospital and work, huh?" Dazed, Chester looked at her with a burning gaze.
Charity was momentarily stunned before she rolled her eyes at him. “Whether or not you go to the hospital has nothing to do with me."
Chester touched his nose gloomily.
As Larissa stole a glance at the two of them from the kitchen, she was elated.
As long as Charity and Chester were willing to speak to each other, it would mean that there was still hope between them.
The next day, instead of going to the office, Charity brought Larissa to the hospital to do a body check-up.
"What check-up is it?" Larissa suddenly felt uneasy. "Did Chester say something to you yesterday?"
"No. He just told me that people your age should do a regular body check-up every year. What's more, I didn't think you had so many problems with your body because you normally look fine. I'm such an incompetent daughter. I'll be less worried if you do a body check-up."
Larissa's heart melted. "What a good daughter you are. Back then, your dad disliked you for your gender. Now, look how blessed I am."noveldrama
