Chapter 5
Chapter 5
5 Secrets
Atlas POV
I’m in my office after just getting off the phone with Elder Thomas. They haven’t found any trace of Amelia yet but he assures me they won’t stop looking until she is found. The trackers still haven’t found any leads either. I feel like I’m losing my mind. A knock sounds on my door “come in” I say. The door opens and a young omega brings in a tray of food and drink for me. She walks over setting it on the table. She’s batting her eyes at me but I just ignore her. The only woman I want is Amelia. “You should have felt that way before you f**ked Freya and Amelia would still be here with our pup.” I push Silas to the back of my mind because I’m sick to death of him telling me how I f**ked up. “Alpha is there anything else I can do for you before I go” her words with a meaning I can’t miss. “I’m going to make this perfectly clear and you can pass it on to the other omega woman.” “I have a mate and her name is Luna Amelia.” “Don’t ever proposition me again.” I see fear flash across her face at my tone. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“I’m sorry Alpha I just thought that with Freya and Luna Amelia gone you would need a release.” I stand coming around my desk and grab her by the throat. I squeeze her neck enough to make my point. “What do you mean with Freya gone?” Tears start to flow down her cheeks and she is begging me to let her go. “Answer me now.” “I was often called on by Freya for help and she said what a good lover you were” the omega says. “Freya is a f**king liar and murderer and if you ever breathe that again I will snap your f**king neck.” “Do you understand me?” “Yes Alpha, I’m sorry I didn’t know she was lying.” “Well, she was” I say and drop her to the floor. “Get out of my office now.” She scrambles to her feet and runs out of my office. I head downstairs and out the back of the pack house. Silas and I need to run. We haven’t since the Alpha ceremony. I shift and Silas takes off at full speed toward the forest.
Amelia POV
I just woke up after I didn’t sleep well at all last night. I kept dreaming about Elias. I kept seeing Elias lying on the ground with his eyes open and blood all around him. In the dream I would rush to him but I would wake up before I got to him. I head into the bathroom to do my morning routine. I splash water on my face before I get myself ready for my shopping day with Lily. “Nothing you did or didn’t do could have stopped what happened, Amelia “Star says. “I just don’t understand how she could have killed him.” “You know how big Elias was and the fact that he was her mate.” “It doesn’t seem right.” “What are you thinking, Amelia?” “I don’t know Star but something about that doesn’t make sense.” “I obviously really didn’t know Freya based on what she was doing with Atlas but he outweighed her by at least two hundred pounds. “Maybe because he trusted her, she was able to get close to kill him.” “That would make sense if we hadn’t just told him she was sleeping with his brother.” A knock on the door brings me out of my conversation with Star. I get up looking through the peep hole. Lily is smiling and I push my thoughts about Elias and Freya from my mind. I open the door and Lily hands me a coffee. “I got you decaf because I read that caffeine isn’t good in pregnancy.” She really is sweet kind girl. “Thank you”, I say before I take it from her. I grab my purse and my phone off the table. “Are you excited about going shopping, Amelia?” “I am, I want to get some things for the baby too.” I had to stop myself from calling him a pup. I have to get used to living among humans. They do not call them pups. I repeat baby over and over in my head.
Once we are in the car, she drives toward the diner for breakfast first. “Amelia, do you know what you’re having?” I smile laying my hand on my bump. “A boy, I call him my little bean.” She chuckles “I love that nickname.” “I know we couldn’t decide on his name.” I stop myself, I hate that I said we. There is no we anymore. I look out the window and we continue to drive. I appreciate that Lily doesn’t press me when I stop talking. We head inside and take a seat in a booth. I order orange juice and pancakes with peanut butter chips and blueberries. I have been eating pancakes this way since I got pregnant. Lily orders a platter with eggs, bacon, home fries, and pancakes. “I look like the one who is having a baby” she laughs as she digs in. We talk about what I’ll need for the apartment when I catch the scent of wolves. I feel panic all over my body. I look around and notice two men who just walked into the
diner. I don’t know all the Darkmoon pack warriors, so I’m not sure if they are part of our pack or not, but I definitely know they are wolves. “Lily, I need to go to the bathroom”, I say as I stand rushing in that direction. Thankfully, we chose a booth that was close to the bathroom. Once I’m inside, I lock myself in the stall and try to slow my breathing. I will not go back to him. I have to protect myself and my pup.
Lily POV
I hate that Amelia is dealing with whatever happened before she came here. I hope at some point she trusts me enough to talk about what happened. I know it has to have something to do with the baby’s father. When we pull into the diner Amelia gets out without a word. I’m glad we decided to go for breakfast before shopping because I’m starving. As soon as our food comes, I start to eat and we talk about all the things that Amelia needs to buy. Her mood completely shifts and I can see something is upsetting her. I watch her line of sight and notice she is looking at two guys that just came into diner. As soon as she leaves the table, I take my phone out of my purse. I dial John and he picks up on the second ring. “What’s up, Lily?” “I think something is wrong.” “I took Amelia to the diner and when two guys I’ve never seen walked in she looked like she saw a ghost.” “Where is she now Lily?” “She rushed to the bathroom.” “Where are the two guys that upset her?” “They sat down in a booth and they are looking around the diner.” “I know you’re not ready to tell her yet Lily but you may have no choice.” I hate that he’s right. I was hoping we would get to know each other better and she would already trust me before I told her about me. “I know your right, I just wish you weren’t.” “Lily just remember what I said about being careful.” “She seems to be nice but you have no idea who she really is or what happened to her.” “She could have done something wrong and that’s why she is hiding.” “I’m not worried about her hurting me, John.” “I don’t believe this girl could hurt a fly.” “I’m worried she won’t want to be around me or trust me.” “It will all work out just stay safe, let me know when you’re out.” “I will” I say before I hang up.
I hang up with John and decide to go to check on Amelia. I go inside the restroom and her feet are the only ones I see. “Amelia are you alright.” “I’m sorry Lily I’m just not feeling well all of the sudden.” I hate
to push her but I need her to know she can trust me. “Amelia, I know you came in here because those men came into the diner.” She opens the stall door slowly and comes out to face me. “I’m sorry Lily, I’m not trying to lie to you but there is a lot that you don’t know about me.” “I’m not just talking about why I’m here.” “I understand that but if you’re in trouble I need you to trust me not only for you but for your pup.” She nods her head at me. I haven’t shared my secret with anyone since I came to this town except Alpha Lincoln but I feel the need to keep Amelia safe. “Amelia, I haven’t been completely truthful with you but what I’m about to tell you is something that no one here besides John and Alpha Lincoln know about me.” I see the shock on her face at my use of the word Alpha. I wave my hand down my body and I see the moment she can smell what I am. “You’re a witch” she says with fear in her voice. “Yes, I am a light witch.” She takes a step back covering her belly with her hand. I know that wolves are told from the time their young to fear witches and their magic.
“I know how wolves feel about witches but I promise you all of us are not bad.” “Amelia, I’m only telling you this to protect you from the wolves that just came in.” “So, you knew I was a wolf.” “I did but I knew you had to have a hell of a reason to leave your mate while you are pregnant.” The look of fear now gone from her face. “We can talk about this more later but right now the only thing we need to do is get you out of here and keep you safe.” “Can you trust me to do that?” She thinks for only a moment. “Yes, I trust you, Lily.” I smile and extend her my hand. “I’m sure you have never teleported before so I’m going to warn you it might make you throw up.” “Will it hurt my pup?” “No, you both will be fine.” She takes my hand and I teleport us to my apartment bathroom. Just as I figured she heads right for the toilet. I hold back her hair while she throws up. I’m sure we are going to have a lot to talk about when she feels better.
John POV
As soon as I hang up with Lily, I call Alpha Lincoln. I’m rushing to the car when he finally picks up. “John, what’s wrong?” “Alpha, you asked me to let you know if any wolves came into the city so I wanted to call to tell you two just did.” “You saw unfamiliar wolves, where” he growls out. Human city is
neutral territory but I sure they are far to close to his pack for his liking. “I didn’t see them myself but Lily called me.” “She said that two men just came in the diner she has never seen.” “The woman I told you about is with Lily and seeing them freaked her out.” “I’m sure they are wolves that are probably looking for her.” “Lily seems concerned.” “I can’t leave to come myself but I will send Michael and Max to check them out.” “Thank you, Alpha.” “I told Lily to do what she has to, to stay safe.” “I agree but hopefully it won’t come to that.” We hang up and I say a prayer to the goddess that nothing bad happens to either of them.
