Chapter 14
Beverly Carington
People started to come and yes there’s a lot of them. I helped Clyde and Fred to prepare the meat. They started to cook while I helped Jocelyn to bring the drinks out. After that I sat for a while to rest because I’m damn tired.
Grandma walked to me giving a lemonade, I smiled at her.
“Happy birthday again, grandma.”
“You said that a lot already.” She said as she patted my shoulder and gestured to me to sit down. I drank it all in one go. I met a lot of grandma’s friends and basically all the neighbours here.
“Mr. Baskin, this is my fiance, Beverly.” Clyde introduced me.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Baskin.”
“Just call me Ted and it’s nice to meet you too, Beverly.” After that, Clyde talked to him for a moment and then excused himself. We walked into the house and sat down on the sofa.
“You tired?” I asked as I turned to him and he nodded.
“Let me get something for you to drink.” I got up but Clyde pulled me back to sit down again. He put his arm around my shoulder and made my body lean to him.
“Just rest… gosh… having a party like this is tiring.”
“Well… at least grandma is happy.”
“I mean that’s kinda right but still…” He said and I patted his stomach.
“She’s happy so as long as she’s happy… we’re good.” I looked at him and he raised his eyebrows.
“So is that your motto?” He asked.
“Yeah… kinda.” I said and he chuckled.
“Everyone?”
“Yeah.” I nodded.
“You should think about your happiness first instead of thinking about someone else’s.” He said and I shook my head.
“I love seeing someone else happy first.” I smiled and looked at him straight into his blue eyes.
“Thankyou, Clyde.”
“Hmm? For what?” He asked as I wrapped my arms around his hips.
“You kinda give me a chance to rest. I have never had this rest before. I kept making money and never used it to enjoy my life.” I smiled and he nodded smiling.
“Good to hear that. I’m kinda glad that I made a decision to threaten you.” He said and I chuckled.
“Weird…”
“What?”
“Our meeting.”
“Yeah… it’s weird. You were trying to ruin Jack’s wedding and I stopped you from that.”
“Because of you… I need to return the money.” I hissed and he glared at me.
“You ruined my car.”
“Excuse you… you’re the one who put me in your car first.” I said and he laughed.
“You kicked my balls too… and broke my phone.”
“It’s your fault! You’re the one who started it… don’t blame it all on me.” I hissed and he chuckled nodding.
“I was wrong and I’m sorry about it.” He said and I smiled.
“Clyde.” We both turned to see a beautiful girl standing at the door. She just entered the house and Clyde stood up right away. My body fell to the side because he stood up so fast.
“Anna.” Oh so this girl is Anna, she’s Clyde’s ex. Ricky and Pierre talked about her and I guess I met her right now.
“Hi… how are you?” Anna walked to Clyde and hugged him. Clyde hugged her back and then Anna turned to me.
“Oh right… Anna, this is my fiance, Beverly. Beverly, this is my friend, Anna.” Me and Anna shook hands and I smiled. She’s really beautiful and her green eyes sparkles. No wonder Clyde attached to her.
“Nice to meet you.” Anna said.
“Yes, nice to meet you.”
“I’m going to go to grandma first.” Anna said as she pointed at the garden. Clyde nodded and she walked away. Clyde sat back and I chuckled.
“You still like her, don’t you?” I asked and from the looks that he gave me… it’s a yes.
“She’s my first love. We dated for about 4 years.”
“Hey… if you still like her, go for it. You’ll be in LA for 1 year, this is your chance.” I said and he turned to me disbelief.
“Beverly, you’re my fiance here.”
“Fake… we’re acting but your feelings for her are real.” I said excitedly.
“No.”
“Do you want me to help?”
“No.”Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
“For free.” I said and he raised his eyebrows.
“No… Beverly.”
“Oh come on, you still like her. You literally stood up right away when she called you. It was like you’re being hypnotized or something.” I said and he shook his head.
“I’m here so my family will leave me alone after this… not to date Anna again.”
“Well… as you wish. I did offer you my help.” I shrugged and he chuckled. He ruffled my head and kissed the side of my head.
“I will tell you if I need your help besides… my grandma is not dumb. If I’m hanging out with Anna, she will blow up.”
“Blow up?”
“You’re my fiance… and she will kick my butt. She might be 99 years old but she still can kick my butt.” Clyde said and I laughed.
“Kids… eat!” Grandma suddenly walked in with a pile of beef on a plate. She gave it to us and gave us chopsticks too. We thanked her and she walked outside again. I took one and ate it right away.
“This is so good.”
“Yup.” He said as he put one big piece into his mouth.
“You know… you can go out and talk to Anna.” I said.
“Stop trying to set me up with Anna again because I’m not interested.” He said as he put a piece of meat into my mouth.
“Geez… I’m just trying to be a good friend.” I hissed and he ruffled my hair.
“If I want her back, I will do it myself.”
