Billionaire’s Missing Darling

Chapter 33

Chapter 33

What kind of gift would a child give?

Olivia’s speculation leaned towards a doll at most, followed by Lego. After all, a four–and–a–half–year– old boy wouldn’t yet understand the recipient’s perspective when choosing a gift. Usually, the gifts they gave were things they liked rather than considering the recipient’s preferences. Also, given the small pink box, Olivia thought it might contain a small

toy.

However, when she opened it, she was truly surprised.

Inside was a delicate gold pendant crafted in the shape of a small cat’s paw. The surface was smooth and polished, shimmering in the light. The cat’s paw shape was chubby and cute, exuding a lifelike charm that seemed almost real.

Running her fingertips over it, it felt as though she was touching a natural

paw.

She pinched the pendant and turned it over, discovering that there were even letters engraved on it.

The word was “Luna“.

Seeing the cat’s paw pendant, Olivia didn’t have a particularly strong reaction. But when she saw the name “Luna,” her entire world seemed to freeze.

How could it be such a coincidence?

When she was seven or eight years old, she had once kept a chubby cat named Luna.

Andrew was a sensitive and attentive child. Since Olivia started

unwrapping the gift, he had been anxiously watching her. His beautiful phoenix eyes were fixated and unblinking.

Seeing Olivia’s slight frown, he could slightly contain himself.

But when she held the pendant for a prolonged period without speaking, he couldn’t control his emotions any longer.

Was she displeased? Andrew’s lips quivered, his chubby hands clenched tightly, and a storm of emotions brewed within him.

“What’s wrong?” Olivia noticed his small emotional change and turned her gaze towards him. She reached out to touch his tiny head.

Initially, it would have been acceptable not to ask, but Andrew’s emotions crumbled instantly with this one question. His tiny chest heaved dramatically. Tears welled up and fell down his cheeks. “Don’t you like it?” Olivia had never encountered a crying child before and felt utterly helpless. She immediately embraced the little boy and wiped his tears away with a tissue. She kept reassuring him, “I like it. How could I not? I love whatever gift you give me, Andrew.”

Andrew’s tiny head was buried in Olivia’s embrace. Hearing her words, he struggled to lift his head, looking up at her with a serious expression. “This gift isn’t good. I’ll give you an even better gift next time.”

“Why wouldn’t it be good?” Olivia hugged the little boy and gave him a gentle shake. “I love it the most.”

Andrew lowered his head and persisted, “It’s not good. This gift isn’t good.”

Such a young child, yet he knew how to keep a secret. He had promised Daniel not to tell Olivia that his dad had chosen this gift, and he was determined not to reveal it.

Even if Olivia didn’t like the gift, he wouldn’t reveal the truth despite feeling upset and crying.

Olivia was deeply troubled by Andrew’s tears. She reassured him multiple times that she really liked the gift and would always keep it with her.

Andrew’s tears eventually turned into smiles.

After crying, Andrew looked like a tiny kitten. Olivia took him upstairs to her room to wash his face and change clothes.

Hearing the commotion, Zoe hurried over, intending to take Andrew to wash his face. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

However, Andrew held onto Olivia tightly, unwilling to let go.

Olivia smiled at Zoe and said, “Let me do it.”

Zoe looked embarrassed and apologetic. “I’m really sorry for the trouble, Ms. Taylor.”

On the second floor, in Andrew’s room, Olivia helped him remove his coat. He was left in a white T– shirt. She then led him to the bathroom to wash his face and hands.

Andrew was conscious that he was already in kindergarten and

considered himself a big kid. Being held in somen and

arms to wash his

face embarrassed him. He wriggled free from Olivia’s embrace, his face

turning red. “I’ll do it myself.”

Olivia was surprised. Could such a young child really wash his face by himself?

Although concerned, she respected Andrew’s opinion and let him go. Andrew used a small stool to reach the sink in the bathroom. He stood on it with a serious expression, washing his hands and face, even using a facial cleanser.

The facial cleanser was specifically for children and carefully selected by Zoe. It had minimal additives, no fragrance, and just a hint of mild soap

scent.

After washing up, Andrew turned to Olivia, showing off his clean little face.

“Fantastic!” Olivia planted a kiss on his tender little cheek and then carried him back to the bedroom.

Andrew’s bedroom hadn’t changed much since the last visit, except now a stuffed dog toy was at the head of the bed.

It was a gift from Olivia during her previous visit.

Andrew’s room was neatly organized, with toys neatly arranged in fixed cabinets. Not a single toy was out of place. Pencils and notebooks on the small desk were also meticulously arranged. Even the bed had no wrinkles, as the bedsheet was smooth, and the quilt was neatly folded.

Because everything was so perfectly tidy, the red stuffed dog at the head of the bed was particularly eye–catching.

It was evident that the owner of the stuffed dog cherished it deeply. The toy was dressed in little clothes, wearing a tiny hat and even cute little leather shoes.

Seeing Olivia gaze at the stuffed dog, Andrew felt a bit embarrassed, the kind of shyness and awkwardness that was typical of children.

He lowered his gaze slightly, his big eyes twinkling.

He explained to Olivia that he loved this stuffed dog so much that he always hugged it while sleeping. But one time, he accidentally drooled on it. Zoe took the dog to wash it, but after washing, the stuffed dog didn’t look as cute anymore. So he decided to dress it up in little clothes.

Listening to the soft words of Andrew, his sentences were not too long but organized and clear.

Olivia felt as if a soft brush was gently sweeping over her heart. It was a mixture of bitter and sweet emotions.

To have her gift cherished in such a way was a delightful feeling, yet observing Andrew’s careful and considerate demeanor made her heart ache a little.

Olivia realized that this adorable and innocent little boy always managed to evoke a unique sense of emotion within her. Each interaction deepened her fondness for him.

Sometimes, she found herself in a state of uncertainty, wondering why she had earned this child’s sincere and wholehearted affection.

She squatted down and met Andrew’s gaze, earnestly telling him, “Don’t worry, I’ll give you lots of gifts. Don’t be afraid of breaking them.”

“How many is lots?” Andrew’s eyes widened, filled with both surprise and anticipation as he looked at her.

Olivia turned around and led Andrew downstairs to show him the two gifts she had brought this time.

Upon seeing the gifts, Andrew happily spun around her, his voice overly sweet. “How do you know that I like them?”

“Your gifts make me feel really happy.

“I am even happier today than yesterday.

“I like Olivia the most.”

Olivia was almost wholly lost in the sweet words of Andrew, unable to escape.

Coincidentally, Daniel limped downstairs, his gaze falling on the harmonious pair below. He took particular notice of Olivia, who was practically lost in laughter. He felt like being pickled in vinegar as his heart was immersed in sourness.

Now that she had a child, and forgot about her husband.
