Billionaire’s Side Attraction

Chapter Nine

Lula Lopez

The motel lady snatched the gun from his hand. “This wasn’t part of the plan!”

The guy ignored her and forced the gun out of her hand. “Can’t you see that things aren’t going according to the plan, baby?”

She started pacing back and forth, running her hands through her hair. I could sense the tension in the room rising by twenty percent. She stopped in her tracks, her blue eyes were wide open. “What if they’re tracking us here?”

The other two guys seemed unsteady at her assumption, although I knew that Carlos would not bother going through the trouble. His money and fame meant more to him than anyone else.

The lady’s boyfriend pointed the gun back at us. “Let’s just kill these bastards!”

“No, Gerald!!” The lady argued back, trying to snatch the gun from him but he swerved to avoid her getting a hold of the piece of metal.

She reached for the gun again and he kept it from her arm’s reach. She was resilient and reached for it again, but he pushed her away from her. This seemed to irk her as she pushed him back. “Motherfucker!”

He hit her face with the back of his hand and she fell to the dirty floor. He stood above her with a smirk on his face. “What have I told you about arguing with me in front of others?”

He turned to us and pointed the gun at Javier, his fingers went for the trigger. I closed my eyes, I didn’t know why; was it because I was scared for him, or because I was praying for a miracle? Either answer seemed plausible.

As I opened my eyes, I saw the sudden movement from the motel lady. She yanked the gun from his grip, and instead of Javier’s head getting shot, it was the ceiling that received the painful bullet wound.

“You bitch!” Gerald yelled and hit her in the nose with an elbow. She fell but still fought back. The next thing we heard was another gunshot. Gerald fell to the floor with his eyes wide open. We watched as he was slowly swamped in a pool of scarlet blood.

“Shit! Gerald!” The lady shook his body, but no movement. He was dead as death itself. The other two guys ran off with their tails between their legs. Javier and I exchanged looks, wondering what would be our fate.

The lady sat beside her boyfriend’s corpse, crying out her heart’s content. Her face was all scrunched up as she forced tears out of her icy blue eyes. Then, after a torturous ten minutes of watching her cry a river, she looked up at us. The next words that came out of her mouth shocked me… “I’m gonna untie you both and you can leave, but if you tell anyone about this, you’re both dead! Understand?!”

I nodded my head almost immediately. What an amazing offer! We waited impatiently as she untied us. She made me wait outside while Javier gathered the stuff.

Shortly after, Javier returned with our things still intact. She showed us where my car had been hidden in plain sight. I rushed over to my baby, I had bought my car last year as a birthday gift for myself and I would have been hurt if someone took it just like that.

Javier left her in the motel and joined me in the car. I revved up the engine, and soon, we were in motion, away from that hell hole. I’m sure the police would be able to find other stolen items from that abandoned diner. That girl is a real piece of work, she and her boyfriend. If Carlos ever asked me to steal with him, I’d call the police on his ass. My heart wrenched just thinking about that bastard. I was still shaken by the near-death experience we just had, but I didn’t want to talk about it.

I needed a distraction, so I focused my attention on the hot man sitting beside me. He had his eyes on the road, and a small smile on the side of his face.

“Serial killers, ei?” I couldn’t help the grin that split my lips.

He chuckled. “Aren’t we serial killers, Lula?”

“Yeah, right…”. I paused and looked at him briefly before returning my gaze to the road. “Are you?”Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

He looked at me in incredulity. “You’re not being serious right now.”

“You looked so convincing back there, I just had to ask.” I was hell-bent on overtaking the truck ahead of us.

He answered from beside me. “That was the only way to get her to fear. Come on, you don’t think I’m a serial killer, that’s heartbreaking.”

I laughed heartily. “I’d be fascinated by a serial killer, you should consider yourself so lucky.”

“A serial killer is only fascinating when you’re not the victim.” He shook his head grinning from ear to ear.

“You mean like that lady back there? Your next victim?”

“Exactly.”

We both chuckled remembering the event that happened an hour ago. I would like to believe he isn’t a serial killer, but who knows, maybe he is. I have often heard that serial killers are charming, just like him. But he is right, we only find them fascinating because we ain’t the victim.

Just then, a police vehicle flashed its light behind us, signaling for us to stop. I rolled my car to a halt by the side of the road, wondering what could have been the reason they stopped us. I don’t think I was speeding.

The police officer walked up to us, wearing a hat on a police uniform, and a gun resting in the holster on his waist. As he approached us, he took off his sunglasses.

I looked up and made eye contact with him. “Good morning, officer”

He looked into the car and noticed Javier, Javier greeted him also. The officer looked back at me, his mustache moved when he talked. “Where are you both headed?”

“Houston,” I answered.

He nodded. “You have got some more miles left.” His hands slowly reach for his gun.

I noticed his actions but maintained my cool. “Yeah, we do.”

He scrutinized Javier and me all over again. “License and registration, ma’am.”

“Okay, Sir.” I took out my license and all the necessary documents and handed them to him.

He looked through them and occasionally glanced at my face, maybe he is comparing my face to the photo on the document. “You have anyone in Houston?”

“Yes, my Aunty lives there with her family.” I smiled, although he didn’t smile in return.

“I see.” He pulled out his gun from the holster and pointed it at us, “Step out of the car, Now”.

I raised my hands in the air and exchanged glances with Javier.

“What did we do, officer?” Javier asked, confusion evident on both our faces. We got down from the car with our hands over our heads.

“Turn around and face the car!” He started calling for backup.

“What did we do… Ah!!” I yelped as he grabbed my hand from behind and cuffed my hands.

Less than five minutes later, backup arrived, and more policemen ran out and grabbed Javier. “You are under arrest for kidnapping Miss Lula Lopez!” The officer stated.

“What?”
