Chapter 1787
Chapter 1787:
“Okay…” Harlee was still uneasy, but she was willing to try anything for Rhys’ sake.
Early the next morning, Serena and Harlee brought Felix to the hospital. Robbie and Patrick were already there but quietly stepped out when they saw Harlee arrive.
Serena gave Harlee an encouraging nod. “Harlee, I’ll wake Felix gently. If there’s any sign of distress, I’ll take him out immediately.”
Harlee looked at Rhys, lying motionless in the hospital bed, then bit her lip and softly placed her hand on Felix’s back. “Sweetheart, we’ve come to see Daddy. Can you say ‘Daddy’?”noveldrama
Felix blinked sleepily, his initial fuss quieting as his gaze settled on Rhys. He then began to call out softly, “Daddy, Daddy,” his small voice occasionally mixing in a call for “Mommy.”
The room filled with the tender sound of his voice, tugging at Harlee’s heart.
Her hands trembled as she held Felix, overwhelmed by emotions she hadn’t anticipated. Since Rhys’ injury, her emotional resilience had…
…weakened, and she found herself tearing up over small things, a stark departure from her usual stoicism. For the first time, Harlee realized just how vulnerable she could be.
Serena glanced at Harlee, noticing the tears streaming down her face. It was the first time she had seen Harlee so emotionally exposed, and it deeply moved her.
“Harlee, don’t worry. Mr. Green is doing much better than he was a month ago. I believe he’ll wake up soon. He loves you and Felix more than anything. With you by his side, and Felix calling him ‘Daddy,’ Mr. Green will surely pull through,” Serena reassured her, trying to instill hope.
Serena gently stroked Felix’s forehead, adding, “And look, Felix is getting stronger every day. Everything is moving in a positive direction. I’m confident that soon, we’ll all be back together again.”
“Serena, thank you…” Harlee said, her gratitude heartfelt. Without Serena’s steadfast presence, she might have lost the three most important men in her life during the chaos over a month ago.

Serena shook her head, offering a faint smile to keep the mood light. “Harlee, if we’re really talking about gratitude, I should be thanking you. So, let’s not say ‘thank you’ between us.”
Serena bitterly thought that if only Tonya were here, Lonnie, Felix, and Rhys would have received far better medical treatment. She already blamed herself for her inability to wake Rhys, and for not being able to fully cure Lonnie and Felix. Harlee’s thanks only made her feel the weight of their situation more deeply.
Knowing it wasn’t best to keep Felix in the hospital room for too long, Harlee had Serena take him back after half an hour.
Meanwhile, Lonnie’s condition steadily improved, and he began visiting Rhys more frequently at the hospital.
Any residual bitterness Lonnie had felt toward Rhys over the three years of his feigned amnesia and disappearance completely dissipated after learning of his sacrifice. How could he resent a man who had risked his life to protect Harlee? Besides, those three years had been no easier for Rhys, who had been tormented by the virus.
Seeing Rhys now, pale and still on the hospital bed, softened Lonnie’s heart even more. He found himself just hoping Rhys would wake up soon.
