CEO's Substitute Bride

Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Emmett was breathing heavily and his face was full of gloom. He looked even paler than before.

Alyssa looked at the full of gloom ‘Justin’ and had a glimpse of his bloody hand. Blood was tickling down and soaking the floor. “You… What are you doing?”

As soon as she finished speaking, she quickly looked at the wall, examining if something was broken. She was already in this state and if this ‘Justin’ break the wall, how the hell she was gone to pay?

She really wanted to shout at him. But at this moment he looked very scary just like a ghost. Looking him like this she didn’t dare to say anything.

But she didn’t put anything strange into her dishes. How could it make him run out and cripple himself?

And even if he wanted to hurt himself, did he need to do it in front of her house and destroy her property? This mad man!

Emmett didn’t respond her and was about to leave when his cell phone suddenly rang.

He glanced at the unknown number and his face grew even darker. He immediately cut the call.

At this moment, he raised his sight and looked at Alyssa, “Go in.”

His voice was low, cold and suppressive with a hint of gloom.

Alyssa was very sensitive. At first, she really wanted to ask him what was going with him and if he had offended someone. But looking at his sullen eyes, she felt ‘Justin’ was very scary.

She slowly backed into the room. one hand was holding onto the door and was contemplating whether to lock the man outside.

Emmett didn’t notice her hesitation because his cell phone rang again.

This time, it was not an unknown number. But the name ‘Frank’ displayed in it.

He didn’t hesitate to answer the call now. “What does he want from me now?”

On the other said of the phone, Frank said respectfully. “He’s asking you to bring his daughter-in-law to his place for dinner, tonight.”

Emmett coughed and laughed. “Don’t bother with his calls in the future anymore.” Emmett coughed and laughed. “Don’t bother with his calls in the future anymore.”

Frank nodded on the other side, “Alright. He isn’t my boss and doesn’t pay my salary after all.”

Emmett put on phone on his pocket and rubbed the space between his brows. It was obvious that he and his father didn’t have a good relationship and now it seemed that his father was more interested in his wife than himself.

He sighed and turned around only to find out Alyssa was still standing at the door hesitating whether to close it or not.

He raised his brows. “Eavesdropping on my call?”

What? Eavesdropping on him?

“Of course not!” Alyssa shook her head rapidly.

Alyssa felt she did a big mistake by coming outside to check on him. It was better not to offend this ‘Justin’.

“Then why are you still standing here?” Emmett raised his brows and took a step forward, looking down at her. A playful expression appeared on his face and his lips rose into a smirk. “Or you’ve already thought it clearly and are willing to give up that crippled cousin of mine and follow me?”

Hearing this, Alyssa turned around and closed the door, without hesitating.

Emmett didn’t flinch when he saw that he was locked out heartlessly.

He originally thought of staying two more days here as he wanted to find out the person he was trying to chase. He was even tracking everyone’s movement through the window of the apartment. However, he couldn’t find out the man. It was as if that man had disappeared.

Since the person he had been finding wasn’t here, there was no need for him to stay in this place anymore.

Besides, even though the new wife of his wasn’t a beauty, but she was certainly a smart and kind woman. She would never do anything to interfere with him. He might as well give her some peace during this period of time.

At the entrance of the alley, Emmett saw Frank immediately.

As Frank saw Emmett, he walked over in big strides. His resolute expression had a trace of worry, “Boss, how are you feeling?”

As he spoke, Frank reached out to support him but Emmett waved him off. “I’m alright.”

Frank opened the car door and Emmett sat inside. He leaned back into the seat and said without emotion, “Has he been calling you these couple of days?”

“Yes.” Frank knew very well whom he had been referring to so he nodded his head. Mr. Lawrence said that you’ve blocked his number. He tried to call you by another number but you still didn’t answer. So the only thing he could do was to call me.”

“Hmm.” This was not the first time his father did this.

“Just now before you came, Mr. Lawrence called and said if you didn’t bring Madam to his place back for dinner, he will call her directly.”

Huh he wanted to play this trick now? His good old dad wanted to call Alyssa that woman to go back to the Lawrence residence for dinner?

Interesting!

Frank waited for a while for his reply. He thought something big would happen but to his surprise the man at the back seat simply said, “Up to him.”

He turned around to look outside the window. Seemed like his wife would not be having a good night tonight.

Alyssa finished her meal after returning to her room. It was a good thing that ‘Justin’ left her place. Otherwise with his notorious personality, she was afraid he would definitely do something bad.

As she was about to wash the dishes, her cell phone rang. It was an unknown number.

She ignored it. Now a days many people just called for nothing. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

But her phone rang again and again. And it was the same number, so it shouldn’t be a prank call.

“Hello, I am Alyssa. Who is this?”

“I’m Emmett’s father, George Lawrence.”
