Chapter 1341
Nina opened her arms and gave Lydia a big hug. "Let's not think about all that right now. Since you're here, let's focus on something fun. How about a barbecue in the garden tonight?" "Sounds good. But could I see your two kids first?" Lydia managed a small smile.
Nina happily agreed.
They walked to the living room, where little Gemma was already awake, her big eyes curiously taking in the world around her.
"Gemma!" Orion cheerfully bounded over, holding a toy rattle, which he shook from side to side, producing a light, rhythmic sound.
Gemma immediately giggled at the sight.
She reached out with her tiny hands to grab the rattle, but Orion held it just out of her reach, raising his arm. "If you want it, you have to come and get it, Gemma."
Gemma stretched her little arms, trying her best to grab it, but she was so small that she couldn't reach. After a few unsuccessful attempts, she pouted, squeezed her eyes shut, and started to cry.
"Don't cry! I was just teasing you. I'd never actually keep it from you." Orion quickly placed the rattle in Gemma's hand, soothing her with gentle words.
He loved seeing her smile and didn't want to make her cry.
Gemma's tears soon stopped as she clutched the rattle tightly, refusing to let go. With Orion's guidance, she began to shake it on her own, laughing as the crisp sound filled the room. Her eyes squinted with joy, and Lydia watched from a distance, her heart swelling with a wistful admiration.
"Nina, this is the kind of life I've always dreamed of. I don't care about wealth or status. I just want the happiness of family, the warmth of having kids around. It's such a blessing," Lydia said, a soft smile on her face.
"Everything with get better, Lydia.
You'll have your own little ones someday, Nina replied, fully aware that some wounds could only heat with time. All she could do as a friend was be there for Lydia
Hearing their conversation, Orion turned and ran over to greet her. "Aunt Lydia, good evening!"
"Well, hello there! Let me give you a hug." Lydia picked Orion up and
kissed him on the cheek," and
getting so big. Come on, let's go see Gemma."
With Orion in her arms, Lydia walked over to the cradle where Gemma lay, feeling her heart melt as she looked down at the adorable little girl. She set Orion down and held Gemma for a while, softly singing a lullaby to her.
Just then, Mrs. Watson approached. "Miss Lydia, let me take care of little Gemma for you. You'll get tired holding her for too long."
"Alright, be careful with her. She looks like she's getting sleepy." Reluctantly, Lydia handed Gemma back.
This wasn't her child, after all. No matter how much she loved holding her, she couldn't keep her in her arms forever.
At that moment, Nash stepped out of his study. "I've finished up with work, so I can spend tomorrow with you all."Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
He noticed Lydia and greeted her briefly. "You two have a nice chat. I'm heading to bed."
"Nina, you should head to your room too. I'm feeling a bit tired and might turn in early." Suddenly, Lydia didn't feel like having a barbecue anymore.
Watching the warmth of this family
and how close and comfortable they
were together, she felt like an
outsider, an intruder in their happy
little world. She felt like an
unwelcome presence in a space that should be just for them.
