Chapter 1056
The baby, so lively when awake, became equally sleepy when tired and quickly drifted off to sleep.
"Rose, what do you mean by what you just said? Are you really concerned about something like blood relations? Do you think Theodore—" "Sebastian, let's talk outside," Rosalie interrupted, worried they might wake the baby.
Sebastian suppressed his anger. "Fine."
The two left the nursery.
Sebastian immediately grabbed Rosalie's hand. "Rose, what's going on with you? If there's something on your mind, tell me. We can work through it together."
Rosalie pulled her hand away. "I plan to move out with the baby. I'll take care of him from now on."
Sebastian froze, unable to believe what he had just heard. He stared at Rosalie in shock. "What...what did you say?"
After a moment of silence, Rosalie said, "Sebastian, you've recovered now. I think it's time for me to move out."
"Are you insane?" Sebastian's face darkened instantly. "Have you forgotten what you promised me? You agreed to stay with me and build a life together. Do you have any idea how much I've missed you over the past three months? And now, the moment you're back, you say you want to leave!"
"If you missed me so much over the past three months, then why didn't you visit me in Melrine?" Rosalie asked.
"Because I was busy with a lot of things here at home," Sebastian replied.
"Oh, really? How busy? Tell me, what exactly kept you so occupied?" Rosalie asked.
"Company matters with some shareholders, along with various other administrative tasks."
"What administrative tasks? What shareholder matters? Please, explain it to me clearly. I'd like to see if these things truly took up all your time
over
the
past three months, leaving
you no chance to visit me in
Metrine." Rosalie's tone was firm.
Sebastian was taken aback. He couldn't understand why Rosalie was suddenly acting this way. Was she truly upset that he hadn't gone to see her during those three months?
"Well, say something!" Rosalie pressed. "Don't worry that I won't understand. Just go ahead and explain."
Sebastian, of course, knew exactly what he had been doing over the past three months. But if the truth wasn't as he claimed, it would become clear he had been avoiding going to Melrine.
Sebastian couldn't fabricate an explanation for what he had been doing. Even if he tried, Rosalie would see right through it.
And indeed, he couldn't come up
l
with anything. Even if he were to fabricate a story, it would be impossible to piece together a detailed, plausible explanation for why he had been too busy for an entire three months.
"What's wrong? Can't you answer?" Rosalie questioned. "If you can't, then it just proves that you didn't miss me as much as you claim." "Rose, why are you being so confrontational?" he asked.
Rosalie's behavior now didn't resemble someone bitter about not being visited after three months. Instead, it felt like she was conducting an interrogation.
"Why am I being confrontational? What about you, Sebastian? What exactly did you do?" she demanded.
"What did I do?" Sebastian shot back. "Rose, you've been acting strange ever since you returned. Even if I did something wrong, you have to at least tell me what it is!"Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Stop pretending to be clueless, will
n
you?" Rosalie said with evident irritation. Why did you come back to the country so suddenly? Was it really because of company matters, or were you just trying to avoid Metrine police?"
Sebastian was struck like a bolt of lightning. The thing he feared the most had finally happened.
"What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?" Rosalie said as she observed his silence, her suspicions now fully confirmed.
