Chapter 34
I was overwhelmed with relief and gratitude as Brax saved me from Ryker’s clutches. I couldn’t begin to fathom what would have happened if he had had his way with me.
What would have become of me? Who would have believed me this time? I would have been punished faster than the speed of light and the maids would have made fun of me till the end of time.Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
How would I be able to look at myself in the mirror especially if he came inside me, just the thought of it made me nauseous. It made me want to puke. My stomach churned with disgust and dangerous thoughts were running through my mind. I was so grateful that Brax walked in when he did.
I was so glad that I had a witness because I knew too well that my statement would never be enough to vindicate me. In this pack, my words meant nothing, not that it meant anything in the pack I used to belong any longer either, I had no place in this world. I was all on my own and now even my baby had left me.
“I’m going to make sure you go down for this s**t. I heard everything that happened and guess what? I’m going to spread the news. The first person that’s going to hear? Aston. I don’t know why he kept you around in the first place, I always knew you were piece of **t pretending to be more.” Brax barked at him keeping me tucked right behind him so I didn’t have to look at the alpha.
It felt so nice to be protected. It made me feel like my life wasn’t completely hopeless after all
After Brax threatened to tell Aston everything. Ryker began to apologize, but Brax cut him off.
“You lost your chance to change your ways, you’re a habitual molester and I’m going to make sure you pay for all your crimes. Of course, the worst of which is touching Kira. I’m going to make you beg!”
“Get the **k out of here before I punch all your teeth out.” Brax ordered, warning him that he would answer to Aston tonight. Ryker’s face went pale at those words and it felt like his whole world was about to crash right in front of him. Aston was just not a friend to him, he needed Aston to survive and this kind of information was going to ruin their relationship for
Sure.
Once he exited the room defeatedly, Brax also instructed the guards to prevent Ryker from leaving the palace. Once Ryker slunk away. I collapsed into Brax’s arms, tears streaming down my face. He held me close, his warmth and comforting me.

“I knew you were innocent back then, Kira,” he whispered. “I’m so sorry I couldn’t do anything to stop it.” He said and I almost melted in his arms. I just needed one person to believe me. One person would have been a lot more than enough to not make me feel like a complete idiot. I guess I was not completely alone like I thought.
I cried even harder, feeling a mix of emotions: gratitude, relief, and trauma. He didn’t mind that I was getting snut and tears all over his shirt, he hugged me even tighter and it made me cry even more. He didn’t care how I looked or what they’d said about me, he didn’t care about any other thing in that moment, he just hugged me and that melted my heart.
Once I finally calmed down, Brax left me alone, and I felt thankful for his presence in my life. He had saved me twice now, and I didn’t know what I would do without him.
He was reluctant to leave me all alone in the room but I finally manage to convince him that I was okay. He didn’t leave until he was sure that I locked the door behind him and I heard him talking to the guard at the end of the hall too. I wasn’t sure what he was saying but his words and the tone of his voice definitely sounded like an order.
That night, Aston arrived, and I was summoned to his chambers My heart raced as I entered the room, seeing Brax and Ryker standing beside Aston Aston’s expression was stern, and I knew I was in for a gruelling interrogation.
“Tell me your side of the story, Kira,” Aston commanded. “From the beginning”
I took a deep breath and explained everything, from the day Ryker approached me to the scalding water punishment. Brax spoke up, defending me and telling Aston that he knew I was innocent all along.
Ryker tried to protest, but it was clear he was scrambling to save face. His words came out as stutters and he couldn’t even make a complete sentence. He looked so intimidated by both their presence and he was sure that Brax was going to punch him in the face if he tried to lie but he still needed to say something to defend himself, to save his pack.
“Aston, I swear they’re exaggerating the matter. That’s not exactly how it happened. I wouldn’t…. I would never…..! should have.. Just listen to me..”
Aston’s expression turned from stern to disappointed, and he addressed Ryker.
“I’m disappointed in you, Ryker. I had no idea you harboured such jealousy and hatred towards me. Your actions are unacceptable.”
Ryker’s face turned pale, a stark contrast to the confident expression on his face when he walked into my room earlier. He looked like a rabid beats and now he was nothing more than a bad dog that was about to get put down but it’s master.
“Aston, we can talk this out, there’s no need to make rash decisions…. Let’s talk this out… We can make a deal.. This can’t.
Aston, I beg of you
“Shut the hell up Ryker!”
With that, Aston severed all ties with Ryker, ending their friendship and business deals. He ordered Ryker to never set foot in the pack again. As Ryker left, he shot me a venomous glare, but I stood tall, knowing I had finally found justice.
Brax excused himself to take a call, leaving me alone with Aston
The silence between Aston and me hung heavy in the air, almost suffocating me with it’s intensity. We stood there, just two of us in his office.

I had suffered at the hands of the alpha, had been subjected to his cruelty and his lies. And yet, Aston had seemed almost disinterested in my pain, more concerned with the betrayal of his friend than with the pain and terror I had endured.
I should have felt bitter, resentful of his coldness.
But as I gazed into Aston’s dark, fathomless eyes, I realized something
I didn’t need his apologies. I didn’t need his sympathy. What I needed was to be free of this place, of this nightmare that had become my life. And if Aston’s apathy could help me secure my freedom, then so be it.
“Did he hurt you?” he asked and I nodded my head sideways.
Aston’s brow furrowed slightly, his expression inscrutable.
My heart fluttered in my chest like a trapped bird, each beat sending a ripple of fear and anticipation through my body. What was he going to say, it’s not like he cared about what I went through but the heat of his words made my heart go fast. We had been in the same room tons of times before, even when he was having sex and it never once felt like this.
I couldn’t explain it, the room felt hot and it felt like I couldn’t breathe.
“I’m not going to apologize to you, I hope you know that?” he asked and I nodded. I was at no point in time expecting an apology from him, it would be the same thing as expecting the sky to fall and I tended to be a little more realistic than imaginative.
Aston regarded me for a long moment, his gaze searching my face, as if he were trying to divine the truth of Finally, he spoke, his voice deceptively casual my words.
well, Kira,” he said, his words soft but final “You can go.” He said and I dashed out of the room without looking back, I almost bumped into Mara in the hallway. She shot me a death glare that I couldn’t even be worried about at the moment. I was just happy to finally be free but also more than a little worried.
Ryker was evidently psychotic.
What if he wasn’t satisfied with Aston’s punishment? What if he came back, seeking revenge? I knew that I was no match for his strength, his power. I was just a prisoner, a captive in this **id pack.
And yet, despite my fears, I couldn’t help but feel a small spark of hope..
