Chapter 37 Know The Cap
She took the vacuum and after clearing the noodles, she hurried back to the kitchen to take another towel.
On coming out of the kitchen, her brows creased into a frown at the sounds coming from the living room. It wasn’t the sound from the TV as she had lowered the volume earlier. Then what sound was it?
Her grips tightened on the towel and she bit her lips then continued walking.
“What is the meaning of this?”
Ruby was pointing down at the stained couch with a furious expression. A guard was standing behind her with two huge bags in his hands.
The bodyguard looked between the two ladies and scratched his head. He dropped the shopping bags on a couch then cleared his throat. “Do you need anything else, ma’am?”
“No, you can go back.” Ruby dismissed with a wave of her hand. “Oh, wait,” she said suddenly and the guard who was about to walk away stopped and turned around to face her.
“Give me the car key.” She extended her hand.
The bodyguard frowned then shoved a hand in his pant’s pocket and brought out a key. “But Ma’am–”
“Give it to me.” Ruby snatched the key from his hand and shoved it inside her bag.
The guy scratched his neck once more and shifted his feet on the floor. He let out a small nervous laugh before he said, “Ma’am… I need to go back to the Villa, the Young Master had said that none of the guards are allowed here.”
“You can jog right?” Ruby folded both hands against her chest and the guy nodded in hesitation.
She stopped in front of him with a sweet smile then patted him on the chest. “Alright, chop-chop… We won’t want Adrian to come back and find you hovering here, right?”
The guy nodded with a sigh and turned back for the door.
Gina shook her head at the poor guard as her gaze followed his back until he exited the room. She could remember her own dilemma in the scary forest and couldn’t help but shiver inside.
It was almost sunset and she wondered if he was going to reach the city before nighttime.
Turning her attention back to the girl who was now glaring at her, she walked past her and headed to the couch, then bent on her knees and continued cleaning it.
“You dare ignore me!?” Ruby looked down at her with a raised brow. “Are you stupid or what!?”
Gina could sense the same scenario from last night brewing up, and she sighed inside thinking back to Adrian’s words. She dropped the towel then said, “I was eating and accidentally spilled noodles on it… don’t worry, I’ll clean it now.”
“Whatever.” Ruby rolled her eyes. “And is this how you clean it? Don’t you know how to use soap with water? Do you even know how to do anything?”
Gina’s fists clenched and she breathed in and out. She looked at the grease stains on the couch and thought maybe the girl was right. But how would she know when she had never even washed her clothes before.
Without saying anything, she stood up and was about to walk back to the kitchen but then Ruby stopped her again. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
“You really don’t know how to clean it, do you.” She shook her head with a smirk. “Tell me… what kind of background are you from? Didn’t your lowly parents teach you anything? Or… was your mother busy chasing after rich men just how you’re doing now—”
“Enough!” Gina put a hand up, her eyes now flashing with anger. “You don’t know anything about me or my background. Stop speaking about my parents that way.”
“What?” Ruby sauntered toward her and chuckled. “From your expression, you’re really like that. Who in his right sense would marry a person who doesn’t love them. Except if they have a motive… and in your situation, I can see that you’re very desperate for his money. Your greedy parents must have been the same. Otherwise, why would they allow you to do this? Or, are you a wayward filthy orphan, yeah, that should explain everything.”
Gina dropped her hands to the side and clenched her fists hard to prevent them from flying across the girl’s face.
“Are you done,” she muttered under her breath. “since you hate me that much, why don’t you walk on your path and pretend as if I’m not here.”
“Tsk tsk tsk… you’re not worthy of my feelings, Gina. But since you married my man, I’ll make sure this house becomes hell for you before he kicks you out.”
Gina chuckled and also folded her hands. “You’re this confident that Adrain will kick me out. Then why don’t you sit back and watch everything unfold? Or…” she paused then let out a small laugh and continued. “Are you afraid that you’ll be the one who will end up being kicked out?” she taunted. If she was going to keep on pestering her and also insulting her parents all the time, Gina does not see any reason for holding back.
Sizing her up, she could easily see that the girl wasn’t from an affluent family. As someone who had mingled with a lot of socialites, growing up, she could easily discern a real princess from a pauper, even if dressed in the most extravagant of clothing.
If she hadn’t found herself in this kind of situation, then the girl wouldn’t even get a glance from her on a normal day.
“You’re ridiculous.” Ruby gave her a mocking look. “Adrian and I have been together for so many years, what made you think—”
“A mind could be changed in just a matter of seconds you know.” Gina cut her off with a small chuckle. “And you should know the gap between a wife and a mistress.”
She almost spat out when her mouth uttered the word wife. But her disgust was instantly replaced by glee as the girl’s expression changed.
