That was a lot to take in. who would know that the fearless Damian Black had a really rough childhood. Despite losing both his parents at a very young age, he had to take over the family business.
May be this was the story Felix was talking about. Maybe that was what made him become heartless or maybe it was something else.
I started to get curious again when I remembered what Grey said the other day.
“Do you have any other questions?” Damian asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“Yes.” I answered without thinking.
“Alright. Ask away.” He said.
This is my chance right now.
“Who’s Ana??”
His body suddenly became tensed like he didn’t expect that question from. I too was surprised that I asked that question considering the fact that I had decided not to bother him about it because he seemed really angry the last time Grey mentioned her name.
He seemed like he was in a trance for a while. Just like his facial was as if he was relieving bad memories he wanted to have buried forever.
I didn’t want to push it but his silence was making me even more curious.
“Who’s she?” I asked again.
“She’s no one.” He answered after being silent for a while.
“Really??” I asked, not believing what he had just said.
“Yes. So drop it.” He muttered but I didn’t listen.
“She doesn’t seem like just a nobo……” “I said she’s no one so just stop pushing it Selina.” He yelled out making Grey’s attention turn towards us.
He stared at us for some seconds before looking away.
I was surprised by his sudden change in behavior. I wanted to say something to him but he stood up and walked towards the restroom.
I had a feeling like she’s someone important to him since just her name could make his demeanor change like this. I don’t know why but it hurt me that he could act this way because of another girl.
I could feel my stomach churn but I held my self. I can’t let some girl who I don’t even know ruin my happiness. I buried whatever hurt I felt within me and kept a smile on my face.

Damian entered into the restroom and stood in front of the mirror. He held the basin tightly till his knuckles were almost white.
That name, that bloody name that he had buried deep in his memories. The same name that he had wished to forget about.
But just the mention of that same name was enough to recall all the bad and hurtful memories like they just happen yesterday.
He hated it. He hated that her name was able to make him feel this way. He wished he could just forget about her and what she did to him.
She made him this way. She turned him into a monster that was incapable of love. And here he was, thinking that Selina can change him back to how he was.
It was probably working. Staying with her had made this past month memorable to him. After three years, he was finally feeling loved by someone but it just had to be ruined by Ana’s name.
He was finally forgetting about how she betrayed him and threw away his love for her like it meant nothing. He was finally able to forget all she made him pass through and sleep like a normal human without nightmares but she ruined it all.
Ana ruined his life and made him heartless. He deeply wanted to forget about her but it was so hard for a man to forget about his first love.
He put on the tap and washed his hands and face, hoping it could wash away the bad memories. He picked up a towel and wiped his face.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“Act cool Damian. She’s gone and would never ever come back to ruin all you have ever built. You made sure of it so just finally let go of all she did to you.” He muttered as he took in a deep reassuring breath before leaving the restroom.
He smiled when he saw that Selina was already dozing off. He walked towards her before taking his seat beside her again. Then he placed her head carefully on his shoulder so she would be able to sleep comfortably.
He stared down at her and smiled lovingly. His past love life must have ended abruptly and painfully but he would do everything within him not to ruin the new one he has with Selina.

I felt a light tap on my lap which brought me out of my deep slumber. I fluttered my eyes open to see Damian staring down at me.
“Wake up sleepy head. We’ve landed already.” He said as he helped me unplug my seat belt.
“So soon?? How long weas I asleep??” I asked tiredly, trying to keep my eyes open.
“Five hours.” He answered.
My sleepy eyes widened in shock. That long?? I looked around and noticed we were the only ones in the Jet.
“I sent Grey on an errand.” He said like he had read my mind.
Oh. I turned to stare at him and was surprised to see him staring at me like I was the most importing thing right there. His intense stares started to make me uncomfortable.
“Okay. We should probably go too.” I said and was about to leave when he dragged me back, making me lose my balance and I fell on his lap.
“I’m so sorry.” I muttered and wanted to stand up but he held me back.
“Why should you apologize to me when I should be the one doing so?” He asked.
“What do you mean?” I asked in confusion.
“I’m sorry for yelling at you earlier.” He said.
“No need to apologize. I’m not angry with you.” I answered.
“I need to so I won’t feel bad.” He said.
“Okay.”
“I have no explanation to use to justify my attitude earlier. It’s just that the name of the person you mentioned is someone I really detest and I’ve been trying to forget.” He said.
“You don’t have to explain Damian.” I said when I noticed he was have a hard time.
He must really detest her.
“No, let me. I need to get it off my chest. She was once the love of my life. We were both in love with each other, more like I was the one in love but all ended when she cheated on me with some one I called my best friend. She planned with him to take my position as the mafia don.” He muttered with a frown on his face like he was relieving his hurtful memories again.
I used my hand to stroke his cheeks and gave him a reassuring smile.
“I almost lost everything if not for Felix and Grey.” He said.
Maybe that’s why Grey is so disapproving of me.
“I managed to get back on my feet after their betrayal. That’s why I’m like this. I find it so hard to trust people, I detest women a lot and I became really brutal and heartless until I met you.” My heart almost skipped a beat when he said that.
“You bring the best out of me Selina. Whenever I see you, I always forget about what happened to me.” He muttered as he closed his eyes and rested his head on my chest. “Damian.” I called.
” That’s why I can’t let you go because you are the antidote to my miserable life.” He whispered.
