Dear Contract Wife, You Are Mine

Chapter 20

Maybelline Walter POV

“May… Can we talk, please?” Miles knocked on the door for the second time, but I remained silent. No way I was going to open the door for him after everything he had done to me.

I heard him sigh.

“I’m sorry about yesterday… I didn’t know you were going to wait up for me. I didn’t mean to hurt you. Something came up and I had to stay back and handle it. I’m really sorry,” He spoke from outside, but I just rolled my eyes.

“Go away, Miles. I don’t need your explanation,”

“I’m sorry, wife… I would never do something to hurt you. Can you please open the door?” He pleaded again, and this time, I finally stood up from the floor and pulled the door open.

“You are crying?” He raised one of his eyebrows surprisingly, but I quickly wiped my tears and turned my face away embarrassingly.

“I wasn’t crying,” I mumbled.

“I’m sorry, okay?” He cupped my cheek in his palm and stared into my eyes. His eyes were so charming and sexy that I could only wish to stare for long if I had the chance to.

Slowly, he leaned forward until our faces were just inches apart, and fuck! I crazily wanted him to kiss me.

My heart thumped heavily against my chest as I felt his warm breath on my face. The long-awaited moment was finally here when he finally claimed my lips.

His lips tasted so sweet, and fuck it! Mr. Miles was a good kisser. A better kisser than my ex-boyfriend, Oscar.

The kiss was intense, leaving me almost breathless, his hands exploring my body, and his tongue didn’t fail to do its job as it explored my mouth. Just a kiss from him made me so damn horny as I found myself wanting more than just a kiss from him.

“This is wrong, May. You can’t do this with him,” My subconscious mind reminded me, but fuck it! I was so into this that I could barely think straight.

“He is your baby Daddy, so there is nothing wrong with this,” A part of me gave me a reason to go ahead with this, and as if my hands developed minds of their own, they sank into his hair, as I pulled him in and deepening the kiss until I could barely breathe.

It felt awkward to pull away so I could breathe, but that was until a knock sounded on the door.

“Ma’am, it’s me,” Adelie’s voice came on from outside, and we finally broke from the kiss. I gasped for breath.

“Oh, Adelie…”

“Breakfast is ready, ma’am,”

“Alright. I’ll be there shortly,” I replied to her, and heard her receding footsteps and I concluded she already left.

“Uhm…” I bit my lip as I was left with no words to say to him because everything felt so fucking awkward. I was so embarrassed to even look him in the eyes.

“I… I will use the bathroom,” I rushed my words and dashed into the bathroom at once, slamming the door behind me. I crashed against the wall and breathed out, but my heart wouldn’t stop racing.

“What the fuck was that? How could you do something that stupid?” I scolded myself silently as I sank my fingers into my hair and pulled it slowly. Am I losing my mind? Why did I kiss him?

“It’s not something serious. Just pretend nothing happened,” I said to myself and proceeded to do my usual morning routine.

Done with everything, I left for the dining room, and as I descended the staircase minutes later, the aroma coming from the kitchen welcomed me. My stomach grumbled and my mouth salivated just at the aroma of the delicacy, and I could only look forward to devouring it.

I finally arrived at the dining room, and my jaw dropped at the series of food on the table. There were different kinds of food on the table that left me wondering if there was an even hosting today.

“Why is there so much food, Adelie?” I asked Adelie who was busy arranging the dish. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“Boss asked to make this much food that he wants you to eat to your satisfaction,” She replied to me, and my cheeks flushed.

“Really?” I asked, taking a seat on one of the chairs arranged around the table.

“Yes, ma’am. What would you like to have first? I will dish it out for you,” She uttered as she picked up a plate and a spoon, ready to take my order.

“Why don’t you rest, Adelie? I will take it from here,” I suggested.

“Boss will be mad at me if he found out I didn’t serve you,” She replied to me, and I briefly sighed.

“Alright. I’ll go for Mac and cheese first,” I stated, and she went ahead to serve me.

“Where is Miles?” I asked her as Miles was not yet at the table, but just then, I heard thick footsteps descending the staircase, and I looked in the direction to find Miles. He had already changed from the clothes he was wearing earlier, and the way he was casually dressed left me questioning myself if he was not going to the office today.

“You are here?” He asked as he pulled out a chair across from me and sat on it.

“Hmm. I got here not quite long ago,” I replied to him. I tried as much as not to make eye contact with him.

“Good morning, boss. Should I serve your food?” I heard Adelie’s voice.

“Hmm,” He just hummed and I could sense the coldness in his voice, so I looked at him, and our eyes met. Surprisingly, his face was nothing portraying the tone of his voice earlier. Maybe I heard him wrong. I concluded and quickly turned my face away. I resumed eating.

Adelie finally finished serving him, and she left us to eat alone.

An awkward silence assumed the atmosphere as we ate. The only sounds I heard were the ones coming from the cutleries we were using to eat. It felt awkward especially as the thought of the kiss earlier struck my mind, and feeling his gaze all over me made everything even worse.

“Adelie will be away for some time,” He said out of the blue moon, and I looked at him.

“She took two months off. She said she had something to take care of back home,” he stated, and my jaw dropped to the ground.

“I don’t know if it’s possible to talk to your friend to move in with you for now. I’m afraid you would be left all alone at home whenever I’m off to work, and there’ll be no one to take care of you,” He suggested.

“Lily has to go to work every day, and she’s usually in the morning shift, so she spends all day at the hospital. I don’t think it’s going to change anything even if she moves in,” I replied to him sadly. Even though I rarely talked with Adelie, she was still a company to me here.

“Hiring another maid is out of it because I don’t trust those girls out there. What do you think we should do?” He asked, and I thought about it for a while before something struck my mind.

“How about I resume work?” I asked, but he quickly shook his head without hesitation.

“That’s not an option. I can’t have you stress yourself,” He refused.

“Who said that I’m stressing myself? I’m just going to stay behind the desk and…”

“I insist. I won’t allow you to work as my secretary. How about coming to work with me daily? You can just sit around my office, take a walk when you want, and you can even sleep when you want. How about that?” He suggested, and I gave it a brief thought.

“That’s fine,” I nodded affirmatively.

“Adelie is leaving this weekend. We can resume work together next Monday,” He stated, and I nodded.

At least, my day won’t be spent at home boringly henceforth…
