Don't Try to Escape, My Wife!

Chapter 1719 I Admit What I’ve Done

Chapter 1719 I Admit What I’ve Done

Lucas stared at the empty computer screen, his mind blank.

When he realized what he had done, everything was over.

He actually could recover the deleted content, but he suddenly snapped shut the computer. A trace of

determination flashed through his eyes.

After tidying himself up, Lucas stood up and left the bathroom. Yasmeen was gone. He suddenly felt an

emptiness in his heart. He sat down on the bed, lost in thought.

Since he couldn’t hear anything, he was often in a daze. He thought about nothing, though.

When Nicole and Samuel came back, Lucas was napping.

He frowned slightly as if he was quite bothered even when sleeping. Looking at him, Nicole felt so

sorry.

She walked over and tucked her son into the quilt gently.

In the past, Lucas was quite alert when sleeping. He could wake up immediately when hearing the

slight footsteps. However, it seemed he couldn’t hear anything now. He was sleeping soundly.

Nicole had an indescribable feeling when staring at him, tears welling up in her eyes.

Samuel felt sorry for her, but he didn’t know how to comfort her.

After a while, Nicole put the food on the table aside. Then she left the ward.

Samuel followed her, only to hear her say, “I want to call Davon and asked him to come over and give

Lucas a checkup. I don’t believe Lucas is deaf now. He’s so young. He...”

“Honey, Lucas’s deafness is temporary. I asked the doctor. In his mission, the bomb exploded next to

his ear, so it caused temporary deafness. No worries. His ears would recover in a week at the latest,”

Samuel explained hurriedly.

“What if it’s not temporary? After a week, the optimal treatment time would be missed.”

All Nicole was concerned about now was her son’s ears.

Samuel rubbed his nose and kept silent.

Looking at him, Nicole felt quite upset.

“Don’t you agree with me?” she asked.

“Yes, I agree with you. I’ll call Davon now. But Phoenix has just had a second baby. Are you sure I

should call Davon now?” Samuel said.

Upon hearing it, Nicole was taken aback.

That was true.

A decade ago, Phoenix’s infertility had been cured by Davon, and she gave birth to a baby boy.

Phoenix’s delivery was quite life-threatening because of a massive hemorrhage, which almost scared

Davon to death. Hence, he didn’t want Phoenix to give birth again.

Unexpectedly, Phoenix was pregnant after ten years. She had been pregnant for four months when

they realized it, so they could only keep the baby. Not long ago, she gave birth to a baby girl. Until now,

she was still in the confinement month.

If they called Davon over at this time, it would be too inhumane.

Nicole was taken aback and said, “Let’s call Joseph. His brother is injured. He should come back to

check on Lucas, shouldn’t he?”

“Joseph is attending an international seminar right now, representing our country. Let alone calling him,

even the telegraph couldn’t reach him.”

Samuel was also worried about Lucas’s ears, but he was pretty rational.

In rent few years, Nicole was exceptionally sentimental when things were about her children.

However, Samuel dared not to make such a remark directly. What if Nicole got angry? He had to calm

her down and echo her first.

Nicole felt quite frustrated after hearing what Samuel said. When she wanted to ask Maddie to come

over, she saw Maddie came towards Lucas’s ward with a few people in military uniform.

“Good day, Mr. and Mrs. Green.”

Davon operated on Maddie several years ago, so she could speak like an average person now. She

had chosen to follow Blair and Gabrielle and went to a military medical school. After graduation, she

became a chief physician in the hospital of the military region.

Seeing Maddie, Nicole was quite delighted. She grabbed Maddie’s hand and said, “Lucas’s ear...”

“Please don’t worry, Mrs. Green. Lucas’s ears are fine. I gave him a thorough checkup earlier. It’s

temporary deafness caused by sudden sound vibration. He’ll gradually recover from tomorrow

afternoon,” said Maddie with a smile.

She was pretty gentle.

Upon hearing it, Nicole finally rested assured.

“You and Lucas have gotten along very well since childhood. Please take good care of him for us,

Maddie,” said Nicole.

“I will, Mrs. Green.”

Maddie patted Nicole on the back of her hand, withdrew her hand, and politely took the group of

soldiers into Lucas’s ward.

Nicole frowned slightly, feeling a bit uneasy. When she was about to follow them in, Samuel stopped

her.

“What are you doing?”

Nicole glared at him.

Samuel explained in a low voice, “It’s a routine procedure. People from the military headquarters will

come to take his statement. It’s not proper for us to go in.”

“That’s my son!”

Although Nicole was unhappy about it, she stopped. Samuel took her away, distancing themselves

from the ward. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

When Maddie came in, Lucas had got up already.

Actually, as soon as Nicole left the ward, he woke up. He didn’t know what to say to Nicole, so he

pretended to nap.

Looking at the colleagues from the military headquarters, Lucas was relatively calm.

Concerns appeared in Maddie’s eyes. She walked up and checked him up. Then she said in a soft

tone, “Lucas, do not be nervous. It is a routine procedure.”

When she spoke, she looked at Lucas and said word by word as she knew Lucas could understand in

that way.

Lucas smiled and said calmed, “Maddie, you can leave first. I’m fine.”

“No, I’ll stay.”

Somehow, Maddie felt that Lucas was quite abnormal after getting injured this time.

Lucas didn’t insist.

Looking at the colleagues from the military headquarters, he said flatly, “It’s all my fault. When I shot, I

was absent-minded, so I didn’t notice the kidnapper’s mood and movements. Right then, I just wanted

to frighten the kidnapper and force him to surrender, but I pulled the trigger safety too early, so the

bullet was shot directly.”

Upon hearing Lucas’s words, Maddie instantly raised her head and looked at him. She said anxiously,

“What nonsense are you talking about? Lucas, you can’t be willful now. You should know every single

word you are saying now will determine the future of your military-political career.”

“I’m telling the truth. It’s my fault. I should be responsible for it. I miscalculated the wind direction and

didn’t find a proper time to shoot. I admit my mistake.”

Lucas looked extremely determined with his bright eyes.

Maddie wanted to cover his mouth, but it was too late.

People from the military headquarters exchanged a few glances with each other. They all knew that

Lucas was a pillar in the military. They had thought there might be some reasons behind the incident,

but he had admitted that it was a severe consequence because of his anxiety. They wondered what

they should write on the statement.
