CHAPTER 46- HOW TO IMPRESS A GIRL
CHAPTER 46- HOW TO IMPRESS A GIRL
Jack adjusted his position and turned towards his friend to explain, "Ryan, the whole school knows you
like her but does she know about it?" Ryan fell silent processing his words while the latter continued,
"This all flirting and asking out is happening because no matter who likes her she is still single at the
end of the day!"
"She isn't your woman, she is your crush! None of this will stop, no amount of beating will hold people
back from eyeing her because... She isn't officially dating anyone. You get that?"
Ryan processed his thoughts and nodded, Jack's words made sense to him but he didn't know what he
was implying. He asked, "So... What should I do?"
Jack's eyes curled up as he said, "You need to make her yours officially!"
"Official?" Ryan raised an eyebrow, "She is still a kid, this is not the right time." Ryan turned down
Jack's idea. She was only 12 and in his opinion not prepared for dating and commitments. He wanted
to wait till she was 18 and mature enough to understand everything and get prepared for a life with
him.
But Jack had other concerns, he explained, "Ryan, I understand what you are worried about, you are
afraid she would say her answer in the heat of the moment and blame you later. But, it is not gonna
happen... You have both known each other for eight years already, you treat her the best in the whole
world. She is 12, no more a kid; her friends are all in a relationship, it is only her who is single."
"No... I don't think it's a good idea." Ryan was still reluctant about opening up his feelings to her. Jack
threw his arms around him and said, "Ryan, it's already too late. You see, right, how many people want
her to be theirs. You gotta admit it, her beauty is more powerful than your warnings! Her dad is a
businessman, you think he believes in love and all? Once he finds a profitable marriage he will send off
his daughter for the money and benefits of that matrimony."
He paused there and said in a tone as serious as his face, "You gotta make the move and claim her
before it's too late!"
Ryan was conflicted, one side he wanted to give her time and wait while the other side... Jack's words
were unfortunately true. He was torn apart between the struggle of choosing the right decision, he
loved her a lot to let go of her or see her sad.
After thinking for a couple of hours the boy finally chose what he wanted to do, he said, "You are right, I
ought to make the move before it's too late."
Jack's emotionless face finally brightened up when Ryan finally gave him the answer, he appreciated
him for making the right decision and continued, "If you make things official with her you will be able to
take care of her more, this will also allow Cathey to have enough time to see what kind of spouse you
are."
All these reasons and the fact that she will be finally his sent butterflies tremendously fluttering within
him.
"Ok, what am I supposed to do now?"
"It's the 12th of February today, Valentine's day is on the bay. Ask her out for an official date!"
"Date?" Ryan stood in front of the mirror and met Jack's eyes through the latter's reflection. Jack
nodded firmly, "Yes, the boy asks the girl for a date, he spends all he has into it, impress her and they
become a couple. That's how it works!"
Jack's words sent Ryan into a daze, when he finally broke out of his fantasies he asked, "Teach me
how it is done!"
"I..." Jack dragged before the two ended up watching different movies to learn the art of asking a girl
out. While Ryan sat and concentrated on the movie Jack sat next to him and took notes from every
scene.
After watching around 30 to 40 different movies Ryan lifted his remote to switch off the television when
Jack said he was done with them and asking out sketches. Ryan took the notepad from his hand, went
through what he had planned and asked, "You think it is okay to do it this way?"
"Yes, these were the most used methods and the girl's immediately agreed. If you follow this plan
perfectly she too will agree to give it a chance with you."
Seeing how confident he was with this master plan Ryan finally agreed to do it and started rehearsing
his lines in front of the mirror. It was a big day tomorrow, he was going to ask her out so he wanted to
make sure that he manages to give his best shot from his side and don't give her a reason to break up.
The next day, Ryan was patiently waiting outside Catherine's house in his car so that he can take her
school with him. Throw the rearview mirror he saw the young girl walking towards his car waving at her
nanny, Ryan's hands started to sweat as he saw her approach. With a katchak she pulled open the
car's door and greeted him, "Hey, Ryan!" And carefully sat next to him in the backseat.
"Brother Jack is still sick?" She asked seeing that the latter was still absent from school. Ryan grunted
before pulling out a big bouquet of fresh red roses and giving it to her, "Here, this is for you."
"Awww... Thank you, Ryan!" Catherine happily accepted the flowers and sniffed it without giving a
bizarre expression which he expected. He frowned, "Aren't you excited upon seeing the flowers?"
Catherine smiled and asked, "Why should I be surprised, you give me something every time we meet
since I have known you!"
"..." Ryan didn't know whether to laugh or cry, she was not following the plan how he had prepared
himself for and this started making him nervous. The car started and Ryan kept on turning at her as if
he wanted to say something but couldn't make himself say it. The girl kept on noticing it but stayed
mum until she couldn't hold the suspense anymore, she asked, "Do you have anything to say, Ryan."
"Yes!" The boy admitted.
"Say it, why are you hesitating?" The girl punched his shoulders lightly and giggled encouraging him.
The boy signed to himself and said in a monotonous way, "You are really beautiful." "What.." The girl's
smile dropped when she heard his comment, Ryan nodded lightly and continued, "I need a map!"
"Why?" Catherine stared at him when he added, "Because I got lost in your eyes and need a map to
find my way out."
"..." Rendered speechless she kept on looking at him without a particular emotion on his face, for some All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
reason Ryan was getting frustrated as she was not giving him the reaction he sought for. "F*ck it." He
thought to himself and delivered the second line he had mugged up, "This morning a nightingale came
complaining to me. It is angry that the sound of your laughter is sweeter than it's singing."
Ryan tried to smile at her but seeing she was still silent and making the atmosphere awkward for him
he turned around. He cursed Jack in his mind for brainwashing him and making him do this stupid
thing.
Seeing that the atmosphere had tensed up Catherine chuckled awkwardly and said, "Ryan, is
everything alright?"
