Chapter 14
“I’m not laying my hands on you, dad has employed a babysitter for you already. She will do her work whenever she comes.” Tracy remarked to Chloe’s hearing. “Don’t stare at me.” She yelled again.
She had pleaded with Chloe to get her dressed up for school, but she turned down her request. Chloe couldn’t stop dancing around the corner she can’t wait to be dressed up for school by Vanessa.
“I’m just sure that she will get your dirty clothes washed. Anyways, she has to do that because I won’t.” Tracy added again while moving to her room.
This is a certain life her father lives which she doesn’t like, he will never give them a listening ear when he takes a decision.
All that matters to him is just Chloe’s welfare, he doesn’t care about theirs. Meanwhile, he concludes that they are grown up enough to take care of themselves, but not to step on his order.
Despite all, he’s the nicest father. His children are his priority and their happiness is all he strives for. Chloe is the only one he gives all attention to at this point, but that doesn’t mean the others are worthless to him.
His love for them all is just equal, but the pain of watching Chloe pass through pains because of the death of his dear wife is what he can’t bear.
Chloe kept dancing around the corners of the corridor, she was so overwhelmed with joy at the moment.
“Your babysitter is here, Miss Chloe… and dad sent for you. You need to be fast before he leaves.” Ben quenched her joyful movement.
She smiled at him running into his arms. “Are you glad that I have a babysitter?”
“Sure, I am. At least, you won’t disturb me again, all distractions will go to your babysitter. But then, I don’t love the lady, in fact we don’t want a woman in this home who isn’t part of our family.” Ben narrated. He lifted his face in order not to witness her facial expression because he’s sure the second statement won’t do her good.
Chloe slapped his thighs several times, she felt like pushing him hard to the wall. Anyways, she tried it but Ben couldn’t make a move.
“Let go of me and go see dad now,” Ben muttered to her hearing. He slightly took off her palms on his thigh. “Get off me, Chloe.” He screamed this time.
Chloe drew his shirt so hard that he almost hit her. The little girl was so annoyed, she wasn’t expecting her brother to make such aggressive comments about Vanessa.
She left him at last and left downstairs only for her to meet Vanessa who sat on the sofa while her father was about to leave.
“You’ve been keeping me waiting Miss, here’s your babysitter. So you welcome her, take her to your room and show her the necessary things to know about you and your way of living.” Xavier ordered Chloe who was some miles away from him.
She nodded heading towards Vanessa, her palm clutched with that of Vanessa while she listened to all her father kept commenting.
“I’ve grabbed everything you said, Dad. Just go while I leave to dress up for school.” She remarked.
Xavier couldn’t stop smiling, he loved it seeing his daughter in such a mood this morning.
He was about to leave the room when Lilian was found standing on the stairs, he slapped her face and dashed out of the house.
It’s so early to start thinking of how to cope with Lilian’s request. That lady almost gave him a sleepless night.
He affixed himself in deep and endless thought on how to go about with her request. It’s so difficult to get.
He doesn’t want to lose Lilian for any reason to another man. But then let her into his home when they aren’t married isn’t part of his lifestyle.
He shook his head and unlocked the car, instantly he stepped into it and turned on the engine.
“You’re just leaving without saying anything to me, Xavier. Besides, I pleaded with you not to employ that lady in there, but you went ahead with it. That’s so unfair and you know that.” Lilian referred to Xavier who was ready to drive off.
He licked his lips. The time is running too fast and he needs to meet up with it. After visiting the company, he’ll have to leave for the conference meeting, and he’s almost late.
Lilian tapped his cheek, he flicked his head sideways to stare at her.
“You need to have a rest, I’ll give you a reply about it when I’m back. I’m almost late for the conference meeting.” He assured her.
She nodded and left him, her feet stiffened at a corner watching the car as it vanished from the compound. She sniffed and stepped back into the sitting room hoping to see Vanessa still seated.
But he thought bounced back on her, she failed it this time. Since she was so sure that Nessa is getting Chloe ready for school, she left to her room hoping to meet Vanessa when the kids are out.
Vanessa did her possible best to make sure Chloe left with her siblings. She handed over to Vanessa everything about her room.
Vanessa smiled at the brave little girl leaving for school with her siblings. She is aware that their driver is already waiting for them at the compound.
She led Chloe outside and made her seat carefully on the car seat. She waved them goodbye and left back to the building again.
“After all my caution, you went ahead and accepted to work here huh?” Lilian questioned Nessa who was almost stepping into Chloe’s room.
She shut the door closed again and faced Lilian fully.
“I have no other option than to embrace it with all my heart, besides it has nothing to do with you.” Nessa gave her a reply courageously.
For a moment, they both stood glaring at each other. Lilian couldn’t tell the rate of anger that kept streaming in her.
She wasn’t herself any longer. If strangling Nessa to death isn’t a crime, she wouldn’t hesitate to do that. But then, Xavier won’t take it easy with her before handing her over to the court of law.
Nessa watched her as she sighed heavily and twitched into her room. She didn’t say a word to her anymore, and she didn’t bother bringing up a topic to quarrel on.
The fact that Lilian hates her presence in the home as a babysitter doesn’t bother her, and nor is she shocked.
She known the presence of the lady would result in this. As silly as she seems to be towards her, she won’t want to set her eyes on another lady beside Xavier.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
Now the truth is that Xavier isn’t concerned about her actions. He’s damn unconcerned towards Lilian’s behavior, or maybe she behaves well when with him.
Mere looking at Xavier, she’s well convinced that he won’t please someone else and displease himself. Not to talk of losing Chloe because of his fiancee.
Precisely, he would bind it in hell.
Vanessa stepped into Chloe’s room, her eyes began hovering around it. She caught her used-up dress packed beside her wardrobe.
She smiled moving towards it. “I know she must have told them not to wash for her again, believing I’ll do that when I come around. Sweetheart, your memory is something else.”
While sorting it out serially, she found a strange cloth which she’s so sure doesn’t belong to Chloe.
She grabbed it and had it spread so wide to her sight.
“This is Xavier’s clothing, what then is it doing here? She had it on and slept with it huh?” The questions kept running in her head.
Her lips circled instantly as she packed the clothes separately, but kept them on the sofa. She needs to tidy up the room first before going into the laundry.
So she picked up the sweeper and turned it all, it had all the dirt wiped off within some minutes before she began mopping the floor.
It took her almost thirty minutes to stalk the room well, and arrange Chloe’s wears in the wardrobe. She didn’t forget to dress up the bed too with a new cover and blanket.
“Chloe must surely find this room so different when she’s back from school.” She muttered and left the room with the first of clothes.
Lilian sighed when she left with the clothes. She only watched her and was ready to go visit her when she was damn busy.
Nessa was back to the room some minutes later and grabbed the remaining clothes, she shut the door and left for the laundry room.
While busy turning the clothes, she grabbed that of Xavier and began staring at them.
It looks so good and expensive too.
“You took Xavier’s cloth with you? How did you get this?” Lilian questioned her from the back.
She adjusted and glanced at her. Her face twisted instantly.
“Well, I saw it together with that of Chloe, and since I’m doing some laundry I have to do it together.” She replied.
Lilian nodded. “I see, and that also pushed you to stare at his cloth that way? Ohh! Because you haven’t seen an expensive cloth like that before, I guess.”
She stretched her hand towards Nessa. “Give it to me, you daughter of a bitch.” She cursed her.
Vanessa pretended not to hear the last statement she made.
She dipped her palm inside the pocket and pulled it out. It’s a folded money she got.
While Nessa was busy with the washing, she slapped her back.
“Huh! You took Xavier’s money, right? And that’s the reason you didn’t bother to give me the cloth when you sighted it.” Lilian commented in a grimly mocking manner.
Her eyes widened, she was so shocked to hear her say such a thing. Besides, she didn’t search the pocket.
“Xavier doesn’t take it Easy with anyone that tampers with his wealth in the other way, and I promise that he won’t spare you because I’ll let him know of this.” She remarked and left her sight.
Vanessa felt her heart sinking into her stomach at the moment, she doesn’t know what to say at the moment.
But then, she’s scared of Xavier’s action toward her when he hears of it, that’s because she doesn’t have any proof to know anything about the money.
