Chapter 28
Natasha didn't finish her sentence because Elvira interrupted her, saying, "You haven't been back in years. My office isn't in the same place anymore.
"I think it's being used by one of the professors now. Don't worry. If anything happened, I'd know about it. Besides, you already helped her clean up her wound. There shouldn't be any big issues."
Elvira had always trusted Natasha, especially during the years she was her student. That was why, in her second year, Elvira had felt comfortable letting Natasha do experiments on her own, even giving her the day off from classes the next day.
The two of them exchanged a few more pleasantries before hanging up. Natasha sighed as she realized she hadn't given away the scarf she had bought.
Lying on her bed, she tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Tomorrow was important, and she needed to be well-rested. She forced herself to close her eyes. At some point, she drifted off. When she woke up, it was already morning.
Today was the Bradley family's annual memorial ceremony. Natasha didn't need to attend, as the only person she planned to honor was Tasha. However, with something important to take care of, she decided to go anyway.
The Bradley family had many relatives, but Natasha barely knew most of them. After all, they were all connected to Henry, and Natasha wasn't interested in making their acquaintance.
"Well, look at that. Henry, Natasha is back, and she's still the same doesn't even greet anyone," a harsh-looking woman said as she cracked pumpkin seeds, eyeing Natasha with judgment.
Natasha, already in a bad mood, felt a flare of anger rising within her as she listened to the woman's words.
"Hey, are you having a hard time in your own life? Is that why you're taking it out on others?"
The loud chatter in the large hall immediately quieted down, and even Henry didn't expect Natasha to retort.
"What did you just say, you brat? Who's having a hard time? Even if I don't live well, at least it's better than someone like you-a child with no mother."
If it weren't for the few people behind her holding her back, Natasha feared the woman would spit in her face.
"Then by your logic, what does that make Olivia?"
Olivia's face turned pale at these words, and she didn't know how to respond.
"Enough! They're your elders. How dare you speak like that?" Henry snapped, as if this was nothing new.
"Don't worry. I'm only here to move my mother's grave. After this, I won't show my face in front of you again."
With that, she headed to the office to speak with the cemetery administrator, Angelica Parker, but she was told that moving a grave required two family members to be present.
"Can't I do it alone? I'm her daughter, and my father..."
Angelica's response was firm. "Sorry, it's our policy."
Natasha started to cry. "My father passed away yesterday, so I'm the only one left. I can't do this alone?"
Angelica seemed taken aback by the turn of events and, for a moment, felt a bit guilty.
"Sorry for your loss, miss. The rule is set in stone, but people are flexible, right?"
Natasha sniffled while watching Angelica pull out the form. She felt a bit of satisfaction.
"Why can't you just say something nice? When did your father pass away?"
Olivia's voice was as loud as a megaphone, making Natasha speed up her writing.
Just as she was about to finish, Nicole was like an annoying, clingy shadow, immediately snatching the pen from her hand.
"Don't let her fool you. Our father is still standing there perfectly fine. She'll stop at nothing just to move that grave."noveldrama
Angelica was left bewildered by the sudden arrival of these people. "So, did your father pass away or not?"
Henry's face darkened as he stepped forward. "I'm her father!"
What do you think?
