Chapter 37- Amara

Chapter 37- Amara

The morning came earlier than I expected. Steven, Ryder and I stopped by the cabin before going to

the meeting place. We wanted to check up on Aria before going there. Ben and Ethan already left for

there. Ethan wanted to be there for his brother when he shifted. Who am I to stop him anyways? May

be he will shift today as well.

I entered the cabin with Steven to find Aria sound asleep, curled up with Ajax. She looked so peaceful

like she shouldn’t be in any place other than there.

Aw! They look cute like that. If the spirit wolves could be captured in pictures, I would have clicked one.

I heard Steven grit his teeth behind me. That how loudly he was doing it. How he could not find the

scene in front of him adorable is beyond me.

Alas! I would have to wake them up. Aria might want to come with us for the shifting and Ajax is part of

the process so… yeah got to get to work. Aria will get a firsthand experience of the shifting process.

After all she will be doing this at some point when she takes over.

“Aria” I called but I got no response.

Ajax had left no way to reach her. He had covered the outside edge of the bed with his massive body

and Aria was sort of nestled in between his curled up body.

How the heck am I supposed to get to my daughter? I huffed in irritation. I heard Steven trying to stop

himself from laughing. Indeed, when I turned around to glare at him, his face looked unnaturally red.

Laughing at my frustration are we now? Wait till we get home. Then we will see who is laughing. I so

want to cackle as I hatched the plan to get back at him but I stopped myself from doing so or he would

be alerted that I am planning something against him. Don’t want that happening, do we now?

“AJAX” I screamed as a last resort, startling the sleeping wolf spirit and Aria.

Ajax shot up in alarm and growled in warning. He stood in front of Aria on the bed like covering her

from the danger. Once his eyes fell on my grinning self and a very sniggering Steven, he groaned and

plopped back down on the bed which creaked dangerously I might add. Got to get a new bed here real

soon.

“Why are you screaming so early in the morning mom?” Aria whined.

“How are you feeling sweetheart?” Steven asked ignoring her complaint.

“Good I guess but I want to sleep some more.” She said rubbing her eyes.

“It is half past eight already Aria. We have to go.” I told her apologetically.

Her face fell immediately. She looked like she was about to cry. Ajax looked crestfallen.

“You can come with us.” I offered. “You do have to take over some day. You can learn there.”

She nodded.

“Let me freshen up a bit. I am borrowing some of your clothes mom.” She said as she scrambled out of

the bed and into the bathroom.

“How are you doing Ajax?” I asked the very pouting wolf spirit.

“I don’t know. Good I guess.” He didn’t speak for a few seconds. “Can I not merge with Zeno? I will lose

her forever. Why can’t I have another human? Why is he destined to be the Alpha? Just why?”

My heart broke looking at his state. He looked so woebegone. Aria must be feeling the same. After all

both of them don’t want anything to do with Zeno.

“I am sorry sweetie but you know if don’t merge soon, Zeno will probably die or go mad and so will you.

In this way, you at least have a little chance to be with each other. Zeno might change after shifting.” I

said half-heartedly. Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

I don’t think Zeno will change. People like him always have some residue of their past selves no matter

how much they try to change. I just hope he wouldn’t abuse his power after today. Who knows? He has

done that before shifting, he might as well do it after. We need to take a chance here. At least for Ajax

and Aria.

“I don’t want her to put up with that scum of a person for me. I would rather she moves on than be with

him.” Ajax spat.

I couldn’t think of anything to say. Any mother would be happy to have someone like Ajax as her

daughter’s other half but the fate always ends up playing nasty games. They are so close yet so far. I

hope Zeno gets some sense knocked into him for once and at least tries to change.

Aria came out of the bathroom wearing one of my t-shirt and jeans. Thank the heavens we are almost

the same size. Her eyes looked red though. She must be crying in there. I didn’t say anything and

dragged Steven outside as he opened his mouth to speak.

This is not the time. We got to let her deal with this for now.

We ran to the meeting house with Aria on Ajax’s back and Steven carrying me. I saw Ben and Ethan

outside of the house, leaning on the wall. While Zeno stood timidly on the other side with Francis.

Ryder was beside the twins with Earl.

Zeno’s eyes slipped to Aria as we came out of the tree line but three very vicious growls rang through

the air making him look at the floor. I smirked at his scared state.

“Stay with your dad and Ethan and watch carefully. Okay?” I told Aria as we walked near the group.

She nodded and turned around to hug Ajax. Poor child.
