Chapter 17
When jess took a protective stance between me and Hailey my common sense appeared.
How could I be so stupid to argue with Hailey when first of all she’s pregnant and this could definitely stress her and the baby.
It’s not her fault, these are my issues.
“Hayles I’m sorry,” I said holding onto her arms rubbing them gently. She breathed out a sigh of relief.
“it just hurts Liz” she let her emotions out “I’ve been with you and Leon through everything. I hate to see you hurt and I just want you to be happy” even jess was shocked to see Hailey suddenly break down in tears.
“I know, come here I really am sorry” I brought her in for a hug rubbing her back soothing her little cries.
“I hate being so damn emotional,” she said as she hiccupped. Giggles filled the room.
“group hug” Jen, my friend from work sang out running over.
Jen was always great at lifting up the mood. Sooner or later we all started to settle down getting into the big king-sized bed and chatting about random things. Nonsense really.
Mostly about Hailey and her pregnancy. I listened along with them and gave her advice on what I had learnt with Jayson.
“I can’t really explain it, but you think about how scary and real delivering a baby is, but you start to have a really strong connection with her. It’s your duty to deliver her into the world and that fear is replaced with a mothering strength” I explained to her as I turned to her stroking her belly.
Her eyes lightened up “is that how you felt with Jayson” I nodded.
Delivering Jason matured me up pretty quickly and the same for Leon he rose to the occasion pretty well and I expected nothing less from him.
It’s just a shame he had to ruin it.
My nerves were up to the roof as we waited to collect our bags so that we could get out of here.
“what are you doing jen” Jessica laughed whilst watching Jen open up her suitcase, digging through it.
On her hands and knees and everything.
“have you seen the weather I need my raincoat,” she said briefly looking up at jess, her hands still working inside her suitcase.
I looked out one of the large window’s and she was right. It was a reality check from the beautiful sunny days we spent in Italy.
“you’re ridiculous” Jessica retorted.
Once Jen had her coat on and was ready to go, we all wheeled out cases to the exit. Kaleb was coming to pick us all up dropping us off one by one.
Kaleb was originally excited to have some time for himself but as the days progressed, he soon realised he needed to have Hailey at his side.
Which is why he was adamant on picking us up.
When I saw Kaleb waiting for us, I excused myself to use the toilet. “Jessica sent me a brief nod as I walked away.
She’s not stupid she knows I didn’t want to be there and when Hailey and Kaleb reunited. Every time it’s like a stab to the heart knowing that would have been me and Leon.
I won’t admit it to anyone but day by day I was becoming weaker. Seeing him with Jayson was everything I ever wanted.
I joined them in the car soon after “Hey Kaleb” I said kissing him lightly on the cheek. His hand was linked with Hailey over the middle console.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
“shall we plan more long trips away from the boys,” I said smirking at Hailey who just shook her head in amusement.
Riling up Kaleb was always my favourite pass time.
“if away from the boys you mean in the next room, go for it,” he said shrugging his shoulders.
He started up the car “Thailand sounds nice girls” I turned to jen and Jessica with a evil grin.
Kaleb groaned “don’t make me kick you out of my car Lizzy,” he said staring at me through the rear-view mirror.
I just giggled finally sitting back and securing my seatbelt.
After dropping off Jen it was my turn. Instead of dropping me off at home we were at Leon’s place since I was desperately needing to see Jayson.
“Go get em,” Kaleb said pulling up to Leon’s drive.
I smiled before exiting to car grabbing my suitcase. I sent them a little wave as I walked up to the door. My heart was beating so fucking fast.
I rang the doorbell waiting for someone to open the door.
My eyes lifted when the door opened expecting to see Leon or Jean someone but came with nothing.
“Mama!” the small adorable voice of my son said.
When my eyes drifted down to him my hand slapping over my mouth. I leave for a week and this is what happens.
I saw Leon in the distance standing there proud.
“go to mama jay” he called. Jayson looked back at Leon and fully broke into a smile. What my son did next was beyond all my expectations.
Jason stuck his hand down to his sides before taking small yet monumental steps forward. He stumbled slightly forcing me to drop my bags and reach for him.
He even went as far as sticking his hand out and motioning me to stop.
“Mama no” he shouted in that adorable voice of his. I physically couldn’t believe that my body was speaking and walking at the same time.
I couldn’t contain the smile. This is one committed baby.
After a few little steps, he reached me. I instantly picked him up bringing him toy chest. His tiny hand placed itself on my chest.
I’m sure he could feel my heart beating rapidly.
“You surprise me every day,” I said kissing his head. He giggled as I ticked him lightly. His giggles had both me and Leon laughing. Loving the sound of our son happy and laughing.
I pushed my pride to side looking over at Leon, looking handsome as always. He looked ready for work. I guess I came at the right time.
