Chapter 29
Chapter 29
“JT, give me the address, and I’ll head over now.” Alice knew that time was running out, so she couldn’t waste a single second as she tried to calm her emotional turmoil. I need to rush over now! As for that man from 7 years ago, I shouldn’t be so unlucky, right? I won’t coincidentally get discovered, let alone be caught by that man, right? That’s right! My luck shouldn’t be this bad. Yeah, it shouldn’t be!
“Okay. Then, I will explain everything to Irvin. Don’t worry. I wouldn’t allow you to come to harm.” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
The man’s voice on the other end of the phone was exceptionally melodious, especially the enthralling crisp hum.
After she ended the call, she swiftly devised a simple disguise. Her technique was something that was passed down for generations. This specific skill set was personally taught to her by her Master, Marcus Schmidt.
For that reason, even if Alice came up with a simple disguise, the result was top-notch.
At this moment, unless it were someone who was very close to her or knew her very well, otherwise, no one would be able to point her out as Alice.
While she was on her way over to the venue, she refreshed her memory about the Eastburgh Design Project. Since I’d given JT my promise, I will do my very best.
Meanwhile, in the West City’s service hall, Irvin fell into a slightly stupefied state ever since he received a call from Justin. According to Justin, he had found someone to help me to solve my crisis regarding the proposal. But Justin has been abroad for so many years. He doesn’t know much about the affairs happening in Rodcaster. Where did Justin find such a person that’s skilled enough to help me in such a short period of time? Could it be that Justin had underestimated this matter? No one can help me solve my current crisis at all. For f*ck sake, I’ve even given up on this. I’m utterly disheartened, with absolutely zero hope left. Then again, Justin already called me about this. I know he means well.
Besides, he also said the person was on the way and asked me to go downstairs to greet them. Although I have little faith in this person, I can’t reject his well-meaning offer.
Hence, this was why Irvin stood at the door at this moment. Yet, his face was far from hopeful; one could even say he was already waiting for disappointment. That was because there was a slight tinge of weariness and despair clinging to him.
After he listlessly stood at the door for about 15 minutes, he saw a woman walking toward him.
Beauty beyond measure was the first thought that came across his mind when he saw her for the first time.
If it were on the usual days, Irvin would definitely strike up a conversation. But now, he was in no mood for that at all.
Despite his lack of initiative, the beautiful woman sauntered toward him and gave him a quick glance before saying, “Irvin Thorne?”
“Yes, I’m Irvin Thorne. And you are?” Irvin was obviously taken aback. Strange. I didn’t start a conversation with her, so is she picking up the slack? But her tone and attitude when addressing my name are rather unique. Is she playing a different game? Perhaps coming up with a new way to attract my attention?
Just as he was letting his wild imaginations run wild in his head, the following words that escaped the beautiful woman’s lips sent his jaw dropping in shock.
“Someone entrusted me to help you handle the proposal for the Eastburgh Design Project,” Alice said professionally and without much expression. Regardless, it was as clear as day to see that she was only treating this as a job to get done.
“J-Justin sent you here?!” Irvin stammered in disbelief after he finally managed to regain his voice. Still, he couldn’t hide the surprise and astonishment on his face at this moment. So this is the person that Justin entrusted to help me? A woman? Not to mention she looks so young and drop-dead-gorgeous! Was Justin afraid that I won’t be able to take the shock, so he found a beautiful woman to comfort me?
When she heard him mentioning Justin’s name, her brows furrowed slightly. Justin? The second member of the Seven Sons of Rodcaster? JT was the one who sent me here, so what does this have to do with Justin?
“Why did Justin send you over? What can you do? Sing? Dance? Put up a comedy act? Or…” It wasn’t that Irvin didn’t want to trust the woman in front of him. Rather, he simply couldn’t believe that this woman had the ability to help him solve his crisis. Boss and the rest of my close friends wouldn’t have ignored this matter if they could have resolved the crisis I’m facing right now. Although they didn’t voice their solutions before, I know they will definitely help me if they can. It’s just that they eventually arrive at a complete dead end. Their mega-structured family businesses, including the expert of the Knight Group, couldn’t even figure out the solution to my crisis. Yet, now Justin wanted to tell me that this woman in front of me, whose beauty was beyond measure, could solve it? There’s no way in hell that I will believe in this crap!
Alice was neither taken aback nor showed signs of dissatisfaction or anger concerning his reaction. Instead, she just calmly reminded him by saying, “Mr. Thorne, you still have 1 hour and 30 minutes left.”
Since she had a relatively thorough understanding of the matter, she knew exactly when the bidding started for Irvin and others.
Suddenly, the words that Irvin was about to say froze at the tip of his tongue. At this moment, he was overwhelmed by the aura of the woman before him. Besides, the way she could instantly state such information so nonchalantly made him regard her with fresh eyes.
“Huh? Y-Yes!” Irvin felt that everything that took place today was simply too surreal. Therefore, he inquired doubtfully, “Are you really here to help me with the proposal?”
“Well, you can choose to refuse.” Alice always had a no-nonsense attitude about work.
“Okay then. Let’s go upstairs.” Irvin thought that he might as well bring her up with him now that she was here. After all, she’s someone who Justin sent over to help me. I might as well try this as a last resort to my hopeless situation. There’s nothing to lose anyway, considering the situation was already bad enough. I’m sure it can’t get any worse.
“By the way, may I know your name?” Compared to the proposal, he was more curious about the beautiful woman sent to help him, for he had wholly lost hope about the proposal before her arrival.
In all honesty, he still didn’t believe that the woman could help him solve his crisis at all.
Alas, Alice paid his question no mind. She was too lazy to come up with another fake name.
When he saw that she wasn’t interested in making small talk, he suddenly remembered that Justin had explicitly instructed him on the phone to watch his words. Alright then. She’s pretty mysterious and sophisticated and does seem like quite an expert in this field. It’s just that it takes more work to solve the crisis I’m facing now. Or shall I say that it’s simply impossible to solve?
As he thought of that, Irvin merely used her sudden arrival as a warning to watch himself and regulate his emotions. Otherwise, he would be so depressed that he would actually lose his mind.
Once they arrived at his temporary studio located on the 5th floor, she didn’t bother beating around the bush as she got straight to the point. “Tell me your situation regarding this case in detail.”
Several staff members, who were a little dazed when they saw him come in with such a beautiful woman, looked at each other when they heard Alice’s words.
“W-What should I tell you about?” the team leader braced himself and asked. Then, in his heart, he pledged, Sorry, but I don’t even know what’s going on at this point.
“Your plan. The budgeted cost, expected income, design concept, and all other issues. I need to know all of this in detail. Preferably now. ” As she sized him up, she felt that despite communicating face-to- face, there would be more problems cropping up later.
“Huh?” The team leader instinctively glanced at Irvin at her demand. He only nodded profusely after he saw no objections coming from Irvin. “Ah! Yes! Sure. Sure.”
Although the team leader still hadn’t figured out what was going on, he would definitely do as she instructed, considering Irvin had already given the green light. Therefore, the team leader secretly let out a sigh before he began to report.
Just as the team leader started reporting their situations, Alice, who sat in front of the computer, started typing speedily. Once he saw this, he trailed off mid-sentence.
