CHAPTER 37
Amber’s POV
When I turned around, I saw Dale. He came with Jacob. They both looked at me apologetically but there was nothing they could do. She was a servant and under the direct supervision of Jacob’s Luna. Dale did not say anything but he probably heard about the miscarriage.
I had been dreading this conversation with Dale for weeks. I knew that I had to tell him about the miscarriage, but I didn’t know how he would react. But finally, the day came when we were alone together, and I knew that I had to tell him.
“Dale, I need to talk to you about something,” I said, my voice shaking.
He looked at me with concern. “What is it?”
“I… I lost the baby,” I said, tears streaming down my face.
For a moment, he didn’t say anything. He just stared at me, his face a mask of shock and sadness. And then, finally, he spoke.
“I’m so sorry,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I didn’t even know that it would result in this,” he said, his voice full of regret.
He was kind and sympathetic, and I could tell that he was genuinely upset by the news.
For a moment, it felt like we had gone back in time, to a time when we were happy and in love. But then reality set in, and I knew that things could never be the same between us.
We talked for a while longer, about the baby and about our past. And even though it was difficult, it felt like we were finally able to find some closure.
In the end, I knew that I had to move on from Dale. Our time together had passed, and it was time for me to focus on my future without him, but I would always remember the love that Dale and I had shared, and the baby that we had lost.
So I wiped away my tears and took a deep breath, ready to face whatever lay ahead.
After the loss of our child, I felt as if my world had come crashing down around me.
When he came to visit me in the palace, I felt my heart leap with joy. It was a bittersweet moment, tinged with the pain of our loss, but also filled with the love and warmth that only he could bring.
As we sat together in my small room, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. We talked for hours, about our hopes and dreams, about the challenges we had faced and the triumphs we had achieved, and as we held each other in a warm embrace, I knew that no matter what the future held, we would not be together again.
“Is there something that bothers you, Dale? If you are angry because I lost the baby, I am sorry. I know it’s my fault, but what can I do? Things already happened,” I said, trying to blame myself for everything that happened.
“Don’t blame yourself, Amber. I know what happened, and that’s why I am here. This might be the last effort on my part to help you,” he said.
“What do you mean?”
“You are aware of the circumstances of our world, and the strict social conventions would make it impossible for us to be together. My adoptive parents would not let us be together, Amber,” he explained.
As a woman who was born with a low status of an omega, I knew what was going to happen. I was just being hopeless romantic in his mansion.
“What are you talking about, Dale?” I asked in disbelief why we had the painful conversation again.
“With a heavy heart, I had to talk to Jacob again about your wedding. He agreed so we are going to Clayland within the day,” he told me.
I could tell it was not an easy decision, and I knew he was also hurting, but I also knew that it was the best thing for me. Being married to one of Jacob’s brothers would be better than to remain a servant under the Luna.
As he talked to me about the marriage plans, I could see the pain in his eyes, and I felt a pang of regret in my own heart. Why the hell do I love him so much? He was cruel and heartless, and yet, I could not make myself hate him.
I tried to be nonchalant about it but I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news directly from Dale. I was to be shipped off to the countryside to marry a man I barely knew, all because my birth was insignificant.
At first, I was angry and resentful. How could he do this to me, force me to marry someone I didn’t love?
Later in the afternoon, Dale returned to inform me that we had to leave for Clayland, a small town a few hours away.
I was nervous but as we drove through the countryside, I felt myself relaxing. We stopped for lunch at a small diner, where we ate burgers and fries and talked about my wedding to Jacob’s brother.
As we drove through the winding roads of Clayland, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder. The landscape was rugged and beautiful, with dense forests and clear streams.
In the end, our trip to Clayland was a turning point for me. It helped me to see that I could be happy without Dale, and that I could build a life for myself with other people.
And even though I still loved Dale, I knew that I had to keep moving forward, to keep exploring the world and finding new experiences.
We drove the rest of the way in silence, each lost in our own thoughts. But as we arrived at our destination and stepped out into the crisp, fresh air, I felt a sense of excitement and adventure. Whatever the weekend held in store for us, I knew that I was ready to face it head-on.
When we arrived at our destination, I was surprised at how cozy and welcoming the people were especially my future mother-in-law. Jacob had clearly put a lot of thought into making sure that we were comfortable, and I was grateful for his efforts.
“I think you two would really hit it off,” Jacob said, grinning. “Tom’s a great guy. He’s smart, funny, and he loves to travel.”
I was a bit nervous about the whole thing, but I agreed to meet Tom for coffee. When he walked into the cafe, I was immediately struck by how handsome he was. He had dark hair and deep brown eyes, and he was wearing a sharp suit that made him look incredibly dashing.
“Hi, I am Tom, Nice to meet you,” he said while extending his hand for a handshake.
“You can call me, Amber. Nice to meet you, too.”
“I am glad to have you as my future wife, Amber,” he said.
“Me, too,” I replied because what else could I say to him?
“What can you say about Clayland? Do you think you will love it here?” he asked.
“Yes. It certainly is beautiful. I love the rolling hills and the green fields. It’s such a change from the concrete jungle of the city,” I told him, even if the view was not that different from the place where I grew up.
“Yeah, there’s something special about this place. It’s like time moves a little slower here, and you can really appreciate the simple things in life.”
“That sounds wonderful. I could definitely use some of that in my life,” I informed him, and then he narrowed his eyes at me.
“Well, I’m glad you’re here. I think you’re going to love it,” he stated.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
“I already do, thank you,” I said.
“It’s my pleasure. And who knows? Maybe we’ll have a chance to explore the countryside a little more while you’re here.”
“That would be great. I’d love to see more of this beautiful place!”
“How about dinner tonight?”
When he asked, I glanced at Jacob and Dale, but they seemed to be minding their own business. My heart sank when I realized that Dale no longer cared about me.
“What time are we leaving for dinner?” I asked.
“In a few minutes,” he replied.
“What about them?” I asked while referring to Jacob and Dale.
“Don’t worry. My mother would prepare a feast for them, and my brother would surely keep them company,” he answered.
“You have another brother?” I asked because I had no idea.
“Yes. His name is Stefan, but he’s busy,” Tom replied.
So, just like what he said, he informed everyone he would treat me to a sumptuous dinner in town. Jacob and Dale did not object. When Tom held my hand, I just let him. After all, we would get married in a few days.
We drove for hours through winding roads and rolling hills, and I felt my spirits lifting with each passing mile. When we finally arrived at a farmhouse with a restaurant, I was struck by how peaceful and idyllic the setting was.
As the sun began to set, Tom suggested that we have dinner outside on the terrace. He had asked the in charge to set up a table with candles and a bottle of wine, and I felt a thrill of excitement as I took my seat.
Over the course of the meal, we talked about everything under the sun, from our favorite books to our hopes and dreams for the future. I felt myself relaxing in his presence, and I found myself laughing and joking in a way that I hadn’t in a long time.
As we finished up our meal, Tom leaned in and kissed me. It was sweet and tender, and I felt a rush of emotion as our lips met. It was fast, but I didn’t plan to play hard to get it. After all, he would become my husband in a few days.
I just smiled at him.
After dinner, he told me that we should explore the rest of Clayland. After all, the moon was bright and illuminating the dark night. I agreed because it was another way of getting to know each other better, and by the time we returned to his mother’s place, I knew without a doubt that my life in Clayland would be a lot better.
Before retiring for the evening, Tom proposed about having coffee on the terrace. As we sipped our lattes and chatted, the conversation turned to our future together.
“So,” Tom said, “have you given any thought to our wedding?”
I nearly choked on my coffee. “Our wedding?” I repeated, feeling a little flustered.
“Yeah, you know, the big day,” he said with a smile. “I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. I know it’s still a ways off, but I want to start planning now so that we can have the perfect day.”
I took a deep breath and tried to steady my nerves.
“I… I haven’t really thought about it much,” I admitted. “I mean, I know that the wedding was set in a few days, but I haven’t really given much thought to the wedding itself.”
“Well, that’s okay,” Tom said reassuringly.
I smiled at the thought. It sounded perfect. “That sounds wonderful,” I said. “But what about the reception? What kind of food and music do you think will be played?”
Tom grinned. “I’ve got that all figured out too. I was thinking we could have a big barbecue, with all our favorite foods after the ceremony. And for music, we hired a live band to play all our favorite songs.”
I couldn’t help but laugh.
“You really have been thinking about this, haven’t you?”
Tom shrugged. “What can I say? I’m a planner. And I want our wedding to be perfect. After all, it’s not every day you get to marry someone as beautiful as you,” he claimed.
When I heard his statement, I wondered if he had seen me before or if he was being superficial. Nevertheless, I did not voice out my concern that has trying so hard to be kind.
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” he stated, and somehow his statement made me flustered.
Tom was kind and gentle, and he treated me with respect and dignity. He didn’t force himself on me, or treat me like a possession to be owned and controlled. Instead, he showed me love and affection, and I began to see that maybe this marriage wasn’t so bad after all.
And as I looked around me, at the rolling hills and the quiet villages, I realized that there was a certain peace and tranquility in this simple way of life. I didn’t have the luxuries and the comforts of my old life, but I had something even more valuable: a sense of purpose and belonging.
In time, I came to like Tom. It wasn’t what I had planned or expected, but he was not that bad after all.
It wasn’t an easy decision, but I knew that it was the right one. I had to forget about my first love and focus on the man I was engaged to marry.
At first, it was hard. Every time I saw or heard from my first love, my heart would ache with longing and regret. I couldn’t help but wonder what might have been if things had been different.
But as I spent more time with my fiancé, I began to see all the wonderful things about him that I had been overlooking before. He was kind, and caring, and he loved me in his own way. He had a good heart, and I knew that he would be a good husband and father one day.
And so, slowly but surely, I began to let go of my past and focus on my future. I poured all my energy and love into my relationship with my fiancé, and soon enough, I found that my heart was no longer torn in two.
Of course, there were still moments when I thought about my first love, and I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sadness. But those moments grew fewer and farther between, until eventually, they disappeared altogether.
And as I stood before my fiancé on our wedding day, I knew that I was making the right choice. I was choosing to love him and commit myself to a future with him, and I was at peace with that decision.
As I walked down the aisle, the sun shining down on me and the birds singing in the trees, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder and excitement. This was it: my grand wedding to a stranger in the countryside.
It was a strange and surreal feeling, knowing that I was marrying someone I barely knew, someone who came from a completely different background and way of life than I did. But as I looked into his eyes, I saw something there that gave me hope and comfort.
He was kind and gentle, with a quiet strength that I found reassuring. He didn’t try to dominate or control me but instead listened to my opinions and treated me with respect. And as we exchanged our vows, I knew that I was making the right choice.
The wedding itself was a grand affair, with family and friends from all over the countryside coming to celebrate our union. There was food and drink and music, and everyone seemed to be in high spirits.
As the night wore on, and the stars came out overhead, my husband and I slipped away to our honeymoon cottage, nestled in the heart of the countryside. It was a small and cozy place, but it felt like home to me.
As we stepped inside, the room was filled with rose petals and candles, creating a romantic atmosphere that made my heart race. Tom took my hand and led me to the bed, where he gently pulled me into his arms. We looked into each other’s eyes, both knowing what was about to happen.
“I love you, Amber,” Tom whispered, his breath warm against my skin.
And then, he kissed me. It was a kiss filled with passion, love, and desire. As he deepened the kiss, our hands roamed over each other’s bodies, exploring every inch of skin. I felt myself melting into his arms, lost in the pleasure of the moment.
Eventually, we broke the kiss, both breathless and flushed with desire. We looked into each other’s eyes, and I knew that this was just the beginning of our journey together as husband and wife.
“Are you happy, my love?” Tom asked, brushing a strand of hair from my face.
“I’ve never been happier,” I replied, snuggling into his embrace.
As we fell asleep in each other’s arms, I knew that my life had been forever changed by this amazing man who had become my husband.
