Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

Clash of fate

Nathan stormed out of the hospital, his face flushed with anger and frustration.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

He clenched his fists tightly, his heart pounding in his chest. He couldn’t believe the mess he had gotten himself into.

It was just one foolish mistake, one night of drunkenness, and now he was facing the consequences.

As he walked briskly down the corridor, his mind raced with thoughts of Silver, the woman who was now pregnant with his child.

He hated himself for allowing this to happen. He knew he was in deep trouble, and the weight of it all was crushing him.

“Damn it!” Nathan muttered under his breath, his voice filled with self loathing. “How could I be so stupid? How could I let this happen?”

His eyes scanned the surroundings, searching for a place to gather his thoughts. He spotted a nearby bench and made his way towards it, his steps heavy with regret.

Sitting down, Nathan buried his face in his hands, his anger slowly turning into despair. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing Demelza, over this mistake. Silver meant nothing to him, and he couldn’t understand how he had allowed himself to be so careless.

“Why did I let it go this far?” Nathan whispered, his voice filled with anguish. “I can’t lose Demelza. She’s everything to me.”

His mind replayed the moments of their relationship, the laughter, the love, and the dreams they had shared. He couldn’t bear the thought of it all crumbling away because of one moment of weakness.

Nathan took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing thoughts. He knew he had to face the consequences of his actions, but he also knew he had to fight for Demelza. He couldn’t let Silver destroy everything they had built together.

Determined, Nathan stood up from the bench, wiping away the tears that had formed in his eyes. He straightened his posture, his anger now transformed into a steely resolve.

“I won’t let this ruin us,” he said, his voice filled with determination. “I’ll do whatever it takes to make things right with Demelza. Silver won’t come between us.”

With renewed purpose, Nathan walked away from the hospital, leaving behind the test results he couldn’t bring himself to collect. He knew the road ahead would be difficult, but he was ready to face it head on.

As he walked out of the hospital, his mind was consumed by a mix of anger, frustration, and determination. Silver kept running after him, desperately begging and pleading for his attention.

But he remained resolute, refusing to acknowledge her presence or engage in any conversation. He didn’t want anything to do with her or the pregnancy.

Silver’s pleas grew louder as she chased after him, her voice filled with desperation. “Please, don’t leave me like this! We can figure things out together!”

Ignoring her, he quickened his pace, his eyes fixed straight ahead. He didn’t want to be swayed by her words or the emotions welling up inside him. He had made up his mind, and nothing she said could change that.

Lost in her pursuit, Silver carelessly crossed the road without looking, her focus solely on catching up to him.

In a tragic twist of fate, a car came speeding down the road, unable to stop in time. The screeching of tires filled the air, followed by a sickening thud.

Hearing the sound, he instinctively turned back, his heart skipping a beat as he saw Silver lying motionless in a pool of blood.

Shock and regret washed over him, replacing the anger that had consumed him just moments before.

Rushing to her side, he fell to his knees, his voice trembling with fear and sorrow. “Silver! Oh God! What have I done? Please, someone help!”

He held her body in his arms, his hands stained with her blood. “I’m so sorry, Silver. I never meant for this to happen. Please, hold on. Don’t leave me.”

But there was no response, the weight of his actions crashed down upon him, and he felt an overwhelming sense of guilt and remorse.

He had let his anger blind him, and now he was left with the devastating consequences.

The medics close to the hospital quickly appeared with a stretcher.

Silver was rushed into the hospital on a stretcher, her face pale and her breathing shallow. The medics swiftly wheeled her through the bustling corridors, their urgent footsteps echoing off the sterile walls. Nathan, his hands stained with blood, followed closely behind, his heart pounding in his chest.

As they reached the emergency room, a doctor intercepted them, his face etched with concern. “I’m sorry, sir, but you’ll have to wait outside,” he said firmly, motioning towards the waiting area.

Nathan’s eyes widened with panic. “No, I can’t leave her. I need to be with her,” he pleaded, his voice trembling.

The doctor sighed, understanding the guilt and fear that consumed Nathan. “I know it’s difficult, but we need to focus on treating her right now. You won’t be able to help her by staying here. Please, go clean up and wait for updates,” he implored, his tone gentle yet firm.

Nathan’s hands clenched into fists, his knuckles turning white. “I can’t just sit there and do nothing. This is my fault. I should have protected her,” he muttered, his voice choked with regret.

The medics, sensing Nathan’s distress, gently pulled him away from the emergency room entrance. “Sir, we understand how you feel, but you need to take care of yourself too. Go clean up, and we’ll keep you informed,” one of them said, his voice filled with empathy.

Reluctantly, Nathan allowed himself to be led away, his eyes never leaving the closed doors of the emergency room. He walked down the corridor, his steps heavy and unsteady. The hospital’s fluorescent lights seemed harsh and unforgiving as he made his way to the restroom.

Inside the restroom, Nathan splashed cold water on his face, trying to wash away the guilt that clung to him like a suffocating shroud. He stared at his reflection in the mirror, his bloodshot eyes reflecting a mix of anguish and determination.

He couldn’t bear the thought of waiting idly while Silver fought for her life. With a renewed sense of purpose, he dried his face and left the restroom, determined to stay close and be there for her. He felt that is all he could do for her.

Back in the waiting area, Nathan paced back and forth, his mind consumed with worry. Every passing second felt like an eternity, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that time was slipping away. He glanced at the clock on the wall, willing it to move faster.

As he waited, his thoughts were filled with memories of their time together, the laughter and the time they shared. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing her, especially as it was his fault. He didn’t love her but he doesn’t hate her either

Minutes turned into hours, and Nathan’s anxiety grew with each passing moment. He knew he couldn’t change the past, but he vowed to do everything in his power to make things right. He would stay by Silver’s side, no matter what it took, and pray for her recovery.

The scene replayed in his mind, each moment etched into his memory. He couldn’t shake off the thought of her being pregnant, a reveal that filled him with even more remorse.

As he sat there, lost in his thoughts, a police officer approached him. “Excuse me, sir,” the officer said, his voice filled with concern. “I understand you were with the victim when the accident occurred. We need to take your statement and ask if you saw the car that hit her.”

Nathan looked up, his eyes filled with a mix of fear and guilt. “Yes, yes, I was with her,” he stammered, his voice barely audible. “We were crossing the road, and I… I didn’t see the car coming. It happened so fast.”

The officer nodded sympathetically. “I understand this is a difficult time for you, but we need as much information as possible to find the person responsible. Can you describe the car or provide any details that might help?”

Nathan’s hands clenched into fists as he struggled to recall any useful information. “I… I don’t remember much,” he admitted, his voice filled with frustration. “It all happened so quickly. It was a dark colored range rover, I think. I wish I had paid more attention.”

The officer jotted down the details on his notepad. “Thank you for your cooperation, sir. We’ll do everything we can to find the driver. In the meantime, please try to stay calm and wait for updates on the victim’s condition.”

Nathan nodded, his eyes welling up with tears. “I will,” he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. “I just… I hope she’s okay. I hope the baby is okay.” At this point, he wasn’t feeling bitter for silver, but for his unborn child

The officer placed a comforting hand on Nathan’s shoulder. “We’re doing everything we can, sir. Stay strong, and we’ll keep you informed.”

As the officer walked away, his pacing resumed, his anxiety growing with each passing moment.

He couldn’t help but blame himself for the accident, wishing he had listened to her pleas to be more cautious.

The weight of guilt and uncertainty bore down on him, as he anxiously awaited news about the unborn child they may have lost.
