It was just an act
Demelza sat there a while and soon got impatient from waiting for Nathan. The court session didn’t go as she imagined it which made her feel somewhat sad.
She looks around hoping to catch a sight of Nathan but it looked like he disappeared Into thin air. She kept looking around until she felt dizzy from roaming her eyes. She gave up the search and brought out her phone from her portable bag that sat on her lap.
She went straight to Instagram, hoping she was going to need something of interest. The more she scrolled, the more she felt annoyed. At that point, it basically felt like nothing was interesting. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
She stared blankly into her phone until she was brought back into reality by Nathan’s voice.
“Can we go now?” He asked her.
“Yes please.” She responded eager to leave the premises.
Thankfully, she didn’t have to use a cab since she was returning to the office with Nathan. He was going to drive her home.
On their way to the car, Demelza realized Mr Ryan did not come with them. She noticed that was the first time he was not in a work space with Nathan.
“Why is Mr Ryan not here?” Demelza asked, unable to hide her curiosity.
“I can’t stand him, he should remain in the office where I don’t have to stare at his disgusting face half the time.” Nathan responded irritated.
“Why are you being judgemental?” Demelza asked, noticing Nathan has been disgusted with Ryan since the video.
“Heyy, don’t get me wrong. I am not judging him for being gay, I am just disgusted with all the shit he did with those men in the video. He is married with kids for crying out loud. Does his wife even know?” Nathan asked rhetorically.
“Does it really matter? That’s his life and people are allowed to make mistakes. Don’t make him feel bad for having such sexuality. The world judges people like them, you do not have to rub it on his face. ” Demelza said in defense of Ryan.
Nathan shook his head, unable to comprehend why Demelza would be in support of Ryan.
The rest of the walk to the car was a quiet one and Nathan noticed Demelza’s solemn mood and felt pity for her.
They both entered the car and Nathan started the engine. He began driving while Demelza pressed her phone half of the way until she noticed they weren’t going to the office.
“Where are we going?” She asked Nathan with a confused look.
“To the movie.” Nathan responded.
“The movie?” Demelza asked, confused.
“Yes, the movie. You look dad, I feel that will help with your mood.”
“Oh wow.” Was all Demelza could say feeling amused.
She didn’t object or ask questions which made Nathan know that she must be in a really terrible mood. She wasn’t the type to just be okay with anything.
The movie theater was dimly lit with long rows of seats but Demelza noticed there was no one in the movie theater except for the both of them. when they settled in, the screen flickers to life casting a soft glow on their faces.
Nathan had chosen a very nice movie for them to see with hope that it will help light up Demelza’s mood. At this point , he didn’t know if he was doing this for her or for the act. He was doing it anyway.
At some point, the tension built which made Demelza hold on to Nathan’s arm. He turned sideways and smiled, allowing her to hold on to him. It felt good because it felt like they shared a silent connection at that moment.
In about an hour into the movie, it reached the climax which made Nathan and Demelza hold on to each other. As the movie went on, they heaved a sigh of relief as the tension in the movie breaks indicating the end of the movie.
They both stood up and walked out of the movie theater. “Hold on.” Nathan told her and walked towards the ice cream stand.
Demelza stood watching Nathan because he was being too nice. She waited for him to buy the ice cream while she fed her eyes with people moving around.
“Shall we?” Nathan asked immediately he got back to her and handed the ice cream back to her.
She followed him to the car and they both got inside. Nathan began to drive but still didn’t take the route of the office, her home or his home.
“Okay, where to?” Demelza asked.
“You’ll see.” He responded.
Nathan thought in his mind that after all of these, he would have been able to get Demelza to trust him totally.
They soon approached a popular fun park and Batan found a space at the parking lot to park.
“Let’s go.” Nathan said to Demelza smiling.
Demelza followed Nathan without question as she was quite impressed with the efforts Nathan is putting to put a smile on her face.
“I’ll ride that.” Demelza said happily pointing at the roller coaster. She remembered how her dad usually rode the roller coaster with her when she was a kid. Nathan was quite amazed to see how excited she was seeing the roller coaster. his efforts weren’t in vain this afternoon.
Demelza’s eyes sparkled with anticipation as. She waited for her turn. Nathan decided to watch Demelza have fun like a little child. Demelza laughed happily immediately as the roller coaster took off. After a short while, the roller coaster slowed down and Demelza stepped down with trembling feet from the rush of adrenaline.
after the roller coaster ride, they both decided to explore other parts of the ork together. Nathan was eventually able to win a stuffed animal and it amused Demelza how good he was at it. After much time sont exploring the park, they both sat down tired on a bench to catch their breath before going home.
They both sat down until the orange glow of the sun rested on their faces while they stared at each other feeling some sort of connection.
Nathan noticed things were getting more intense than just an act, he looked away, stood up and left. “I think we should had home now.” Nathan said to her without looking back.
“Okay.” Demelza responded with mixed feelings.
As she walked behind Nathan, she could not help but feel some sort of connection between the both of them which made her feel vulnerable and annoyed.
While they both opened the car door to enter, Nathan’s phone rang and Demelza was able to peep. She saw that it was Hampton calling and it ruined her mood.
“Excuse me, I need to answer this.” Nathan said, walking away to pick the call.
Demelza oddly felt somehow about the call which pissed her off. She couldn’t figure out why she felt angry Hampton was calling Nathan.
She waited for a while for Nathan to finish the call but he was taking forever and she was getting impatient. She knew it would be improper if she decided to take a cab and leave him there so she walked towards where he stood to call him.
She noticed how Nathan’s voice was low which made her instantly curious about what they were talking about.
“You shouldn’t be calling me, we are currently together. Whatever you have to say can wait.” She heard Nathan say in what almost felt like a whisper.
Demelza stood still unwilling to risk him hearing her footsteps.
“I don’t care about her, all of this is just an act,” Nathan said to Hampton.
“Really? All of this is just an act?” Demelza asked Nathan, making him turn back in shock. He didn’t expect her to come towards him.
