Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

Demelza and Harriet worked very hard to save up and they both save money together in a locked account so that they cannot access until due time. Harriet took up the babysitting job fully when her employees asked her if she could while Demelza took more shifts at work. Demelza and Harriet both agreed to be home every Sunday to have dinner together.

Unknown to Demelza, Nathan had hired someone to spy on her and report her daily activities to him. For some reason, after seeing her at the restaurant that day, he could not get her out of his mind which was why he made her daily activities his personal business.

Work went on like that for weeks and Demelza enjoyed a bit of it except for the fact that she had to go to an empty house and saw less of her best friend Katherine. They mostly communicated via videocall while Demelza served Kathrine her endless apology of being an unavailable friend.

Another weekend had passed and it was Monday, the start of a new week. Demelza woke up late she had somehow missed her alarm. She hastily prepared for work that morning knowing she will be late but hopeful that she will make it to work before the manager.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

In about thirty minutes she was done preparing and rushed to work. She heaved a sigh of relief upon getting to worked to see that the manager was running late himself.

Monday was the start of the week which made work less stressful. Hours passed so fast and evening came before anyone realized it. The door opened which made Demelza look up and was surprised with who she saw. It was Alison and a very fine young man. Standing there admiring Allison and her date, her coworker tapped her on the shoulder. “The next order is yours, Demelza.”

After being told that, she took few steps backwards to freshen up as she does not want to look dirty in front of Allison and whoever that man is.

Allison and her date found themselves a table in the VIP section of the restaurant. In there, there is a lot of privacy as Allison wasn’t the type that liked too much crowd.

The clinking of cutlery and the murmurs that came from people conversing filled the air of the cozy restaurant.

After freshening up, Demelza took a step but hesitated for a few seconds as her heart raced with a mix of feeling nervous and anxious, unable to pick which she felt exactly. She breathed in and out and then walked to Allison’s table. Finally approaching the table, her innocent face wore a faltering smile as she met Allison’s eyes.

“Heyyy, Demelza. How are you?” Allison asked with her face lightening up.

“I’m fine, thank you,” Demelza responded with a little smile on her face.

“Why didn’t you call me? I waited for your call you know,” Allison asked Demelza pouting a little bit.

“I’m sorry. It’s been hectic,” Demelza responded gesturing to the restaurant. “…And I really did not want to bother you about my problems.” Demelza added.

“Hectic, disturb me?” Allison asked with worry laced on her voice.

“Erm, you know_ I do not mean it that way. It has just been a lot and a very stressful month” Demelza responded fidgeting.

“No, I do not want you to think you are bothering me, I offered to help, didn’t I? So please, I will be expecting that call, alright?” Allison said with a wide smile on her face.

“Alright, ma’am,” Demelza responded avoiding eye contact.

“Oh, this is my fiance,” Allison said introducing the man beside her to Demelza.

“Nice to meet you, sir,” Demelza said with a smile.

“Nice to meet you too,” Allison’s fiance, Gustavo responded.

After the chit-chat, Demelza took their order to them and excused herself to get back to work.

Soon, work hours were over and Demelza changed to leave for home. She came out of the restaurant and began walking down the road enjoying the sight of the warm orange glow of the sun setting over the other end of the city. She walked for a bit and then noticed a car behind her which made her turn to look out of curiosity.

She turned and she could see an unfamiliar face in the car.

“Where are you headed? I can drop you off if I am headed the same way,” the stranger said offering to help. Demelza paused for a moment and then considered taking the ride as that would help her save up the money she was meant to use for transportation if she was to take a bus.

“Alright, thank you,” She said accepting the ride. She told the man where she was headed and he was delighted to take her there since he was headed the same way too. Just a little bit further than hers.

Unknown to her, Nathan had parked in a hidden spot and waited for her to close from work. His brows furrowed in jealousy and his facial expression turned dark when he saw her get into the car of the man.

With so much jealousy surging inside of him, he started following them maintaining a good distance so that the man would not be noticed he was being followed. Driving behind them, his heart raced so fast as he wondered who the man was and why Demelza entered his car. His heart skipped the minute he thought about the possibility of the man being interested in Demelza and the possibility of him trying to use this opportunity to woo her.

Nathan kept following them and did not take his eyes off them even for a second.

The car finally came to a stop in front of Demelza’s house, the stranger walked her to the door and they exchanged numbers which got Nathan even irritated. Nathan clenched his jaw and rolled his hands to a fist as he could feel himself getting out. He fought all urge to come down and chase the man away as he sat down watching until the man left.

Immediately the man left, Nathan waited for a few notches until Demelza went in and then fought the urge to go after her. Finally, his sanity won, and he zoomed off in anger at Demelza for giving out her number to a total stranger!

The girl was such a cheap skirt!
