Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

Trust me

After the quick sex Demelza had with Nathan, she had to change clothes because Nathan had roughly handled the other one. He asked his driver to take her to the boutique to get a new dress. For some reason which Nathan could not decipher, he wanted Demelza to look very good and unique. “Here’s my card, pay for it when you guys are done.” He said and handed over the card to his driver.”

The pillars in the hall for the wedding are all adorned with opulent decorations, the chandeliers hang sparkling and the floral decorations are exquisite.

Demelza looked around the room and she couldn’t help but notice how the hall is filled with guests who are elegantly dressed portraying how rich they are. A gleaming white aisle leads up the archway and it is lined with unique lightning and white roses plus cascading greenery.

Quite a number of skilled chefs and servers bustle around as they prepare and arrange the dishes on one side of the hall. The unending aroma of gourmet cuisine filled the air but all the guests sat in anticipation of the arrival of the groom and guest. I’m few minutes, murmurs began to create a gentle buzz in the atmosphere.

Everyone turned as they sighted the bride in an intricately embroidered wedding gown. Her bridesmaids are on a single file with eyes fixed on her and also ensuring every strand of her hair sits pretty and every line of her dress is flawless.

The bride is finally walked to the altar by her father and handed over to Hampton the groom. The officiating priest stood in a black robe and stood before the couple. He guided the couple through their sacred vows and they exchanged rings. Immediately that was done, the room erupted in applause and cheers as the priest pronounced them husband and wife. “You may now kiss the bride.” the priest said.

The guests all rose from their seats and clinked their glass of champagne toasting to the newly Weds. Hampton held his bride by the hand and they both walked down the aisle together. As they were walking down the aisle, Hampton caught sight of how dashing Demelza looked in the crystal like gown she was putting on.

Hand in hand with his bride, he couldn’t help but constantly have his eyes fixed on Demelza. Demelza felt very uncomfortable from Hampton’s constant stares as she could not comprehend what that was about.

She began to bite her bottom lips and fixed her eyes on her phone to avoid feeling nervous for him staring all the time. She constantly checked her phone to see if Kathrine had replied to her text. She had earlier texted to know why Katherine was running late.

She had this inbuilt fear for Hampton, a fear he had instilled in her which made her very cautious of her every move. She didn’t know which one would upset him. And she couldn’t risk upsetting him either as she could not make out exactly what is going on in Hampton head.

She wanted to leave the hall and take fresh air outside but she was skeptical about that as she didn’t know if that would upset Hampton so she just stayed there glued to the spot praying for a messiah.

“Can I have this dance?” She heard a voice and she heaved a sigh of relief like the angels heard her prayers. Her eyebrows furrowed immediately she realized she knew who that voice belonged to. She wondered if this was any saving at all. ‘What game is he trying to play!’ she asked herself before raising her head up. Her eyes met with that of Nathan confirming her suspicion.

A flicker of uncertainty crossed Demelza’s face because she didn’t know if it was a good idea to accept the dance. She was scared of Hampton and at the same time she didn’t want to offend Nathan. her stomach churned from the messy triangle she found herself in.

She parted her lips silently but then glanced at Nathan once again. She decided to accept the dance as an escape route from Hampton. Demelza’s body and Nathan’s body move in sync both guided by the melody of the playing music and with their eyes locked, they could feel a sort of connection.

The song soon came to a point where they had to switch partners which left Nathan with Hampton’s bride and Hampton with Demelza. Demelza instantly felt like it was the end of the world at that moment. She was dancing with her greatest fear and she had to pretend she was cool with it.

While the dance was ongoing, Hampton’s bride landed a very dirty slap on Demelza’s face. “fucking slut.” The bride said looking at Demelza who held her cheek in pain and utter embarrassment.

All the guests began to murmur as all eyes were fixed in Demelza. Demelza felt so embarrassed she couldn’t say anything or move an inch. Nathan looked at her with pity feeling so shocked.

“What did you do that for?” Hampton asked his bride.

“You think I would not notice huh?” His bride asked him but he pretended to not have an idea about what she was talking about.

“I don’t understand.” Hampton said.

“Don’t play dumb with me. You have been staring at her the whole day, I tried to ignore that but you locked eyes with her while dancing. What was that for?” Hampton’s bride asked with anger and jealousy laced on her voice.

“You slapped her based on assumptions? You think I am having an affair with her and bringing her to our wedding? I’m not that stupid, Inman what kind of a man would that make me?” Hampton asked his bride while Demelza watched him act saintly.

Soon, some of the guests were already pointing fingers at Demelza and she could tell from the stares that she was perceived to be a husband snatcher or wedding crusher.

Demelza’s best friend Katherine who just arrived witnessed the whole episode dashed at Hampton’s bride and landed a very hot slap on her face. The crowd murmured in awe as it was all quite entertaining to watch.

Unable to bear anymore shame, she ran out of the wedding hall crying profusely. She felt like a misfortune and she only attracted bad luck.

On her way home, she vowed to make Hampton’s life twice as miserable as he had made hers.

She heard a knock on her door and lazily got up to see who it was. She opened the door without checking or asking who it was. Her eyes went wide the instant she saw it was Nathan. He was the last person she expected to see at her doorstep.

“What do you want?” She asked Nathan as she tried to hold her tears in.

Nathan felt pity for her seeing how swollen her eyebags are from crying so much. “I want to take you somewhere.” Nathan responded.

“Where?” Demelza asked Nathan.

“Somewhere, just trust me,” Nathan grunted.
