Chapter 27
Chapter 27
"Before you kill me, I will show you my true power," Bert says.
The guard's leader also felt that all that Bert said was nonsense. He laughed and insulted by saying,
"Your body is already full of wounds. Then how will you fight us? Do you still have the strength to fight? Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
You can't even stand up. It's funny hahaha."
The laughter of the guard leader followed by the laughter of his followers, all laughing at Bert. But then
Mrs. Jenkins fully awoke, she cried out with the remaining strength.
"Bert, I am sure you could. Resist them and bring justice to us. Remember our alpha was killed by
them. You must avenge this on them," cried Mrs. Jenkins.
Then Bert began to gather the strength he had left, though his whole body was covered with wounds
and blood still flowing. There was pain, but he refused to give up. Pain was nothing compared to the
loss of the alpha that Bert has always regarded as his own family.
Meanwhile, the guard leader continued to charge him by saying, "Come fight us if you can. Come here,
fight with me."
On the other side of the jungle, Scott and his two other friends continued to run, following their instincts
toward the center of the forest. Scott kept hoping not to happen to the worst scenario. There was only
Bert that become the key witness of everything and his hope lays on him.
"Bert, hold on! "Scott said to himself.
Back to the fight. Bert began to show his grin and his keen eyes as if he could kill his opponent just by
looking at him. The smirk had never looked so frightening before, but it was the guards who pushed
Bert to the point where he was desperate and gave off real power.
Bert pulled out a long howling, all the guards were starting to freak out. After the avalanche was over,
Bert ran and banged and pounced on them all. The guards fell until some of them hit a tree and
knocked unconscious.
Fresh blood flowed from the sharp smirk of Bert, he continued to attack and claw and pounce on the
wolves. They fought each other so hard. Some of the wolves tried to escape, because they felt that
their opponent wasn’t that easy to conquer.
Unfortunately, however, Scott and his two friends were there. After putting everything away, the wolf
inside them asked the body's owner to turn immediately.
Scott, Tom, and Katie have shapeshifted and with their terrifying smirk and their murderous stares, they
run and chase after the guards who are trying to escape.
"We will never let you live," Scott exclaimed.
"Let's get them," Tom exclaimed.
From behind a big tree, Dave was now surprised that none of the wolves chased and tried to kill him.
He walked slowly as he pointed his weapon forward, sharpening his hearing and vision, trying to figure
out what was going on behind that dark forest.
He heard a long howling earlier and then the wolves who tried to rush him just went and disappeared.
Not long after, Dave got to a place where Bert was killing one last guardian left.
"Bert," Dave exclaimed.
After confirming the wolf was dead, Bert turned and looked at Dave, and he went up to Dave and said,
"Are you all right, Dave?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, just surprised by all this. By the way, where is Mrs. Jenkins?" asked Dave.
Bert remembered two guards that guarding Mrs. Jenkins. He immediately turned to Dave's house and
found Mrs. Jenkins lying on his doorstep.
Bert and Dave ran to the woman and, lucky for him, she was only covered in wounds from several
parts of her body because of flogging. Then, Bert, who was back in human form, drove Mrs. Jenkins's
body into the house.
From a distance came Scott, Tom, and Katie. They're calling, "Bert."
Bert, who had laid Mrs. Jenkins's body down on the bed, rushed out of the room and was so surprised
to see Scott and the others.
"Scott, Tom, Katie."
Then, the four of them embraced as they endured sadness, for they never thought they would get
together and meet again.
"How did you know I was here? "Asked Bert.
It's a long story. As soon as we got word of your whereabouts, we came straight here. How are you
doing, Bert?" Scott asked.
"I'm fine, but what I don't accept is that Mrs. Jenkins was a victim," Bert replied.
“Really? How is she doing now? Where is she?" Katie asked.
"She has lot wounds that covered her body, but she is getting better," Bert replied.
"I'll see her, we brought medicine." Then Katie went to Dave's house to see if Mrs. Jenkins was okay.
Now it's just Bert and Scott and Tom.
"Bert, we have to catch the mastermind behind this. You know who did this, right?" Scott asked.
"Yes, I know, that's why I'm hunted down by them. They want my death," Bert replied.
"So, what do you plan to do next?" Scott asked Bert.
"We must report this matter to the High Court to have him arrested and sentenced," Bert replied.
"Who is he, Bert?" Scott asked.
"You'll be surprised to hear it, he's one of the High Court leaders with power and wealth. He's Mr.
James."
"Katie told me the same name, I mean is there another mastermind behind this whole thing besides
him? "Scott asked.
"Nothing, just him."
"Well, we'll report this matter after we leave the jungle. By the way, do you mind if we stay at Dave's
house? Just for a night It's late, so we'd better stay here," Scott said.
"Of course, let's go in."
That night, Scott and Tom pitched a tent in front of Dave's house, Bert helped build a fire. While Katie
and Dave cook in the kitchen.
While he waited until dinner was ready, Scott tried to send Lisa a message. He almost forgot about her
for handling all this. He texted Lisa.
"Lisa, it's me, Scott. Are you busy?"cScott wrote the text message.
A few minutes later, Lisa's reply came in.
"I'm crying in my bedroom."
"Crying? What happened to you?" Scott asked.
"My father betrayed my mother," Lisa replied.
"Betraying? Can you tell me in more detail?"
To be continued ...
