Who is Fiona?
Amber went to the restroom and immediately went inside the cubicle. The moment she finished and got out, she saw Devlin’s mother. She was staring blankly at her from the mirror. She forced herself to smile at her. She knows that his mom dislikes her for her son.
“Ms. Adams, I know this is not the right place to talk about things that should have been addressed in private. However, I am asking you to please leave my son alone. I am sure you know what’s going on within the family.” Amber was left speechless for a while. How can she leave Devlin? She could have done that a long time ago when she asked him to let her go and not proceed with the wedding. Right now, she does not have the heart to leave Devlin especially because she is bound to him not only by papers. She is bound to him with all of her heart and being. How can she leave him now that he means a lot to her?
“Mrs. Wesley, I hope we could talk together with Devlin. I am not the only one in this relationship.” She said politely. She does not want to be rude to his mother.
“Huh! Did you just hear yourself? What talk? The best way is for you to leave as quietly as possible. He does not have to know. How much do you need?” Devlin’s mom asked straightforwardly. Amber clenched her fists, trying to control the anger inside her. Does she think that she is here for the money?
“Oh…I forgot. You just made a lot of fortune recently because you took advantage of the poor old woman.” She said with a smirk, right eyebrow up.
No wonder Devlin is still not on good terms with his parents. She thought his mom would treat her better than his dad. But she is no different than her husband. In fact, she has a more vile mouth.
“I am sorry, Mrs. Wesley but I never did anything to take advantage of no one. I was never raised to be like that.” Tears started to well in her eyes. She had to close her eyes tight. She will not give this woman the satisfaction to see her in pain.
She saw Mrs. Wesley only smirked at her and left. She felt her legs shaking that she had to lean against the wall so she would not fall to the ground. She took a heavy breath and ward off her thoughts from her encounter with Devlin’s mom. She needs to compose herself before she goes back to the party. Maybe she could ask Devlin to go home or call Jackson to drive her home alone.
She was still leaning against the wall when someone came out from one of the restroom’s cubicles. She opened her eyes to see a tall and beautiful woman who was wearing a black bandage dress. She could see the side slit that went way up higher than her mid thigh.
“Hey, are you alright? I am so sorry but I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on your conversation with Devlin’s mom. I was here and I didn’t know that such heated conversation would happen here.” Amber looked at the woman’s face carefully. She doesn’t know her but she looks familiar. She must have seen her somewhere.
“Oh…by the way, I am Fiona… Fiona Ross.” She smiled at her but Amber could not feel any sincerity from her.
She only nodded her head. She did not want to be rude to the woman but she really was not in the mood to converse with her. Such humiliation from Devlin’s mother still shook her senses. She just wanted to leave the party.
Fiona was washing her hands when Amber was still deep in her thoughts.
“Nice meeting you. I knew the Wesley family so well, especially Devlin. If I were you, don’t take whatever relationship you have with him seriously. I just had a great time with him a few days ago. He is such a great lover… as always.” She winked at her before she left.
Amber was shocked at what Fiona just said. She must have been one of his girlfriends in the past. But she mentioned about having a great time with him a few days ago…She does not want to believe her but… Suddenly, something registered in her head. Fiona Ross! Of course, she is a very wealthy heiress. They owned several huge companies from all over the country.
So, whatever Devlin was showing her these past few days were all fake. While he was showing some ‘affections’ towards her, he was also spending time with Fiona. Probably, he spends time with other women as well. Fiona looks like a woman who just wants to play around.
When she left the restroom, she saw Devlin waiting for her outside. He was leaning against the wall, phone in his hand.
“What took you so long? Are you okay?” She forced herself to smile at him. She wanted to confront him about Fiona. She also wanted to tell him about her encounter with his mother. But what good will it do? Everything Devlin showed her were all fake. All those sweet moments they shared together, the romantic getaway during the weekend, the dinner dates… Everything was a farce. Is this his punishment? Is this his way to get back at what she did?
She is definitely stupid for believing him. For hoping that she could make him fall for her. She is nothing compared to Raven nor Fiona. Or even to those other women he dated.
“A penny for your thoughts? Do you want to go home?” He eyed her intently.
“I am not really feeling well but you could stay here. Just please tell Raven that I could not stay any longer.” She suddenly blurted out.
“I can take you home.” She vigorously shook her head.
“No, please stay. They would wonder why we both left. Besides, I don’t want to give your family any more bad impressions about me.” She wondered how she was able to control her emotions in front of Devlin.
“And don’t worry. Jackson can always drive me home. Please enjoy the party. I will be fine.” She was glad that Devlin didn’t push further.
“Alright, baby. You go take a rest. I will call you before I get back home.” He kissed her on the lips. He called for Jackson who was just waiting at the parking area.
“You take care, baby. I will tell my brother and Raven that you are not feeling well.”
“Thank you.” Then, she left with Jackson.
She could not stop her tears. She tried closing her eyes so Jackson wouldn’t see her. The ride did not take too long this time. She thanked Jackson and got inside the elevator. When she reached her bedroom, she was sobbing uncontrollably for a while that it hurt so bad.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Devlin is definitely a monster that he is. Nothing changed except he got his revenge by hurting her. She was laughing when she remembered how she fell for his moves. All those sweet nothing words… they were really nothing. The romantic dinner dates, those are just for a show to lead her on. And worst is that she gave herself freely to him without hesitation.
She had to get up when she suddenly felt like throwing up. She threw up everything in the bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror and she is a big mess. Her eyes were swollen from crying. Her nose was red. Her makeup made it worse for her. She took a quick shower before going to bed.
She was thinking of what she should do next. The only way is for her to leave. She can contact Attorney Harrison. That should be the only way to finish this madness. To hell with Devlin. He never really values her as a woman or even as a human. He treated her like a piece of crap.
She did not realize that she fell asleep from exhaustion. She woke up to something warm moving on her cheek. She did not mind it at first. She was too exhausted to open her eyes. But the movements kept going until it went down to her neck, chest. She slightly opened her eyes to see Devlin laying down to her side while kissing every inch of her.
She smelled the strong alcohol from him. She tried pushing him away but he was too strong for her. He went on top of her and pinned her hands to the side. She tried kicking him but to no avail. He put more of his weight on her.
“Devlin please… I am exhausted. And you are drunk!” She tried one last attempt to stop him from taking her but his strength prevailed over her. He did not even heed her pleas to stop. He looks like a madman right now.
