Before Skylar boarded the plane, she received Avery's wedding photos on her phone. In it, Charles
was smiling deviously as he held onto the bride, while Avery had a sullen look on her face.
A wedding was supposed to be a happy occasion, but Avery looked as if she was at a funeral.
After she put her phone away, Skylar's sympathy for Avery dissipated when she recalled what the latter
had done throughout the years.
Boarding the same flight as Saorise, they were due to meet up with the rest in Beskary.
It wasn't until Skylar boarded the flight that she saw just how stunning Saorise looked. With her wavy
hair draped on her shoulders, her light makeup and exquisite features made her look like a fragile doll
that was in need of someone's affection.
When Saorise saw her, she gave Skylar a warm hug. “It's a pleasure to finally meet you. I love the
drama you acted in so much that I even got my friend to ask you for an autograph.”
Skylar smiled in response. In front of Saorise, she was utterly overwhelmed. Saorise's smile was so
perfect that Skylar didn't know what to say.
In the end, she responded awkwardly, “Is that so?”
Saorise's smile froze momentarily before she proceeded to her seat in first-class, while Skylar sat in
economy.
At that moment, the contrast was obvious.
Skylar even regretted telling Laurel to book her a seat in economy instead of first-class simply because
she wanted to save some money.
After a short while, Saorise's assistant came over and asked, “Ms. Jones, there are still some empty
seats left in first-class, so Saorise would like to upgrade your seat. Given the long duration of the flight,
she's worried that you would feel uncomfortable.”
Skylar politely rejected Saorise's well-intentioned offer. Luckily, there's no one from the production team
traveling with us.
Laurel handed Skylar some sliced apples she brought from home. “This is so humiliating. I wonder
what they have to say about us over there.”
Skylar stuffed the apple into her mouth. “What else can they say? Anyway, she has great looks and a
sweet smile. Also, I seem to remember that she was never the subject of any gossip.”
Laurel explained, “Given how dignified she is, no male actors are worthy of her. So, it isn't a surprise
that there aren't any rumors about her at all. At the end of the day, she is one of Mr. Ford's favorite.”
Just as Laurel finished, she realized she had said something wrong that would upset Skylar.
Skylar pursed her lips. “I heard that she is going to renew her contract with Tobias as Ford Group's only
brand ambassador. He does treat her very well indeed.”
Laurel tried to salvage the situation. “Perhaps, Mr. Ford might get you to do it instead. After all, it hasn't
been decided yet.”
Skylar shrugged. “Since he has never mentioned it to me, there's no way I am thick-skinned enough to
bring it up. Besides, I'm not popular enough to support that role and shouldn't force my way into
something that doesn't belong to me. It's not like it's within my reach anyway.”
With that, Laurel didn't know how else to console Skylar. She felt that Tobias should give Skylar the role
unless he no longer saw Skylar as his woman.
Pulling up the window shade, Laurel looked out at the clouds and related with a melancholic tone, “The
last time I went to Beskary was with my ex-boyfriend. I can't believe he is about to become someone
else's husband. Do you know how ironic it is? That he proposed to me on the flight?”
Skylar had heard from Tobias about what happened between Laurel and Gavin. Since Tobias wasn't NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
one to gossip, she barely knew any of the details.
She comforted Laurel, “As the saying goes, out with the old and in with the new. You can't keep living in
the past. Besides, what's so great about rich kids like him?”
Breaking into a self-deprecating smile, Laurel said, “Even those who are less well off are not interested
in me. At the end of the day, one has to marry a partner of the same social status or the marriage won't
be a happy one. After all, we have different values about life and money due to the different
environment we grew up in.”
