Chapter 2147
Chapter 2147
Sylvia didn't play coy and said to Gabriel, "I really appreciate it, sir."
Gabriel nodded, handed his car keys to the chauffeur, and instructed him to drive Evelyn back to the Quintin estate.
Evelyn stood by the car, masking the disappointment in her eyes, and got in.
Through the car window, she saw Sylvia and Gabriel get into another car together, and the sinking feeling in her heart grew. Sylvia was just an ordinary person, while she was the granddaughter of Old Mr. Quintin. Yet, Magdalen was always trying to set Gabriel and Sylvia up.
Was it because she wasn't originally part of their circle, having joined later, that she felt excluded?
Old Mr. Quintin and Old Mr. Jarvis had already been discussing her marriage to Gabriel. She was the one who should be marrying into the Jarvis family.
Why wasn't Estelle stopping Magdalen from making these random matches?
Hadn't she listened to what her grandfather had said?
Evelyn's heart was filled with disappointment and sorrow. She lowered her head and told the driver to leave.
At the hotel entrance, the others also got into their cars and left. As soon as Estelle got into the car, she received a text from Magdalen, [I told you, with Sylvia's stunning looks, how could Gab not be interested? This could be the real deal.]
Estelle pondered for a moment before turning to Jonathan, "Do you think Gabriel and Sylvia will end up together?"
Jonathan wrapped his arm around Estelle and said with a light smile, "Is this Magdalen's doing?"
Estelle arched an eyebrow, "At first, I thought it was ridiculous, but I saw them together today. They actually seem quite well-matched. And Gabriel didn't seem to reject the idea."
Jonathan said, "Sylvia used to work under Gab. It'll take something special for them to break through that and come together."
After all, if there had been any feelings, they would have surfaced during their time working closely together, not now.
Estelle's eyes flickered with thought, "Do you think Gabriel might be getting close to Sylvia on purpose to avoid the situation with Evelyn?"
Jonathan looked surprised, "Old Mr. Quintin is still considering a marriage alliance?"
"Yes." Estelle couldn't help but laugh, "He is getting over-excited, always dreaming of the perfect match."
Jonathan frowned, "I don't think it's necessarily a good thing for Old Mr. Quintin to keep bringing up the marriage alliance in front of Evelyn. If Evelyn gets her hopes up and Gab can't marry her, it could lead to jealousy and resentment."
Considering Evelyn's behavior today, she seemed to have set her sights on Gabriel. It would be better to nip these feelings in the bud now rather than let things escalate to an uncontrollable point.
Estelle nodded, "Next time I visit Old Mr. Quintin, I'll talk to him about it. At least until Evelyn's status is confirmed, he shouldn't bring up the marriage alliance in front of her."
"Right," Jonathan agreed, "You should mention it to Old Mr. Quintin. Sometimes, those who are too involved can't see clearly. He wants the best for Evelyn, but he might be doing her a disservice in
the end."
Estelle said, "I'll bring it up with him as soon as I can."
Jonathan hugged her tighter, his lips curving into a smirk, "After discussing everyone else's business, let's talk about you for a moment. Who was that on the phone earlier?"
Estelle didn't keep secrets, "Manley."
Jonathan kept his composure, "What did he say?"
"He just found out about the online harassment I dealt with and wanted to come check on me. I told him it's been handled."
Jonathan rested his chin on her head.
Estelle glanced at the driver, then reached behind Jonathan to hold him, her voice low, "Dear Mr. Lamont, we're about to get married. Don't worry about this stuff." Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Jonathan snorted coldly, "As if he matters to me. Does he even deserve that?"
Estelle looked up, "I told Manley to come to our wedding."
"Really?" he asked, his gaze intense.
"Mhm."
His expression softened, and he gently grasped Estelle's chin, leaning in for a kiss.
Estelle dodged playfully and buried herself in his shoulder, muffling her words, "Wait until we get home."
Jonathan's lips held a teasing smile as he stroked her hair affectionately, holding her close in his arms.
