Grace slowly woke up in the afternoon, feeling a bit dizzy. When she turned her head slightly, she saw Grace sitting by her side.
“Grace.” Her voice was so soft that it was almost inaudible.
Grace noticed her movement and realized she had woken up. “You’re awake? How do you feel? Any discomfort?”
Evelyn thought for a moment. She felt uncomfortable all over, but she decided to bear with it, “I’m fine. I just want some water.”
“The water is cold. Huston just went to get it. Please wait for a
moment.”

Upon hearing that name, Evelyn furrowed her brows. Before she could say anything, she saw him walking over from the doorway, holding a pink thermos in his hand. It was quite a contrasting image.
Seeing her awake, Huston paused for a moment before quickly walking to the bedside. He met her clear, almond-shaped eyes and leaned down to kiss her lips, whispering, “You scared me to death.”

Evelyn lowered her eyelids, thinking about everything that happened last night, not wanting to face Huston.
Seeing her silence and non-responsive, Grace was worried that they would enter another cold war or become hostile towards each other. However, to her surprise, instead of getting upset, Huston patiently took the initiative to bring up the topic of Lucas.

“A couple of days ago, I called Sadie back. She can help look after Lucas when they are at home alone. She’s experienced in this area, so you don’t have to worry.”
Upon hearing him mention Lucas, Evelyn shifted her gaze back to his face. She hadn’t expected him to call Sadie back. Her
worries eased slightly, but she also felt guilty for putting Lucas through this unstable situation, and she asked, “Does Lucas miss me?”
“Yes,” He said without hesitation, “He mentioned you several times.”
Evelyn felt a mix of emotions upon hearing that. On one hand, she was touched that Lucas cared about her as a mother. On the other hand, she felt guilty for subjecting Lucas to this kind of transient lifestyle.
Huston understood her thoughts well. He placed his large hand on her troubled face, sensing her attempt to avoid his gaze, and spoke up in a timely manner, “Once your fever subsides and you recover, I’ll take you to see him.”
Evelyn’s struggling motion froze. She was shocked and she even thought she had misheard, “What did you say?”
“Didn’t you want to see Lucas?”
Yes, I really want to see him, but why did he suddenly allow me to see Lucas?
Evelyn stared at him in disbelief, her eyes widening. For a moment, she forgot about the pain in her throat and raised her voice, “You… Are you willing to let me see Lucas?”
Her skeptical expression made Huston feel somewhat uneasy. Perhaps it was his previous resistance that had made her distrustful of him.
“You are the mother of our child. How could I not be willing?” the replied.
Evelyn fixed her gaze on his eyes, their eyes locking. She couldn’t believe that those words came from Huston’s mouth. Since she returned, they had been arguing about Lucas, and she never imagined he would make a compromise.
Huston reached out and took the cup, inserting a straw and offering it to her. Instinctively, Evelyn tried to avoid it, but he immediately stopped her, “Drink some water! Don’t make me angry.”
Although this statement carried a hint of threat, his tone was not heavy at all. It didn’t sound particularly domineering but rather sounded like he was speaking for her own good.
