Chapter 28
Chapter 28
" What is this, Madison? There must be an explanation for this. Why did you lie to me? I want you to tell me everything," Xander demanded answers as we are once again alone in the room.
" I have no more choice, Xander. Or I wouldn't have done it. Please, let's not make it a big issue,"
" You don't want to make it an issue? Then tell me what happened in the past. I can't remember anything from these photos but it's clear that we both know each other. Why can't you explain it?"
" I can't. I can't dumb you with everything. As she said, you are not my regular customer. I just made it up. We know each other from our high school days. And you hate me. I didn't tell you this cause I'm afraid of losing you. When you get your memories back, you will hate me again. You will go after Veronica. I'm afraid of that. I'm not telling more about the past. Maybe it's better if I let you go. I can't bear it if you leave me once you get your memories back. I will better leave your life now. Goodbye, Xander. Don't come to me asking questions, I'm clearly not telling you anything." I made my point clear. I can feel some tears in my eyes. It's better this way. Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
I'm not having any hope or expectations anymore. Someone might come in my way to break the hope. I should have left him after admitting him to the hospital. That's the mistake I made.
" You are not serious? You are not leaving me. You owe me answers, Madison. How can you say I will leave you if I get my memories back? I would never do that. There's no chance for it." Xander stubbornly said, grabbing my wrist without letting me leave.
What if he left me? I can't handle it. A week ago, I wanted him to get his memories back. I want to be on his side all time and when he got to remember it all, I would have explained everything by myself. But now Veronica gave these stupid photos and left making a mess.
" What if you did? You don't remember anything. So, I can't handle it if I lose you again."
" Again...what do you mean by again?"
" I'm not saying anything more, Xander. Leave me. This is a better way. Maybe you should marry her. That's what the old Xander wants." I said without meaning it. Before he could argue more, I got my hand out of his grip and left the room.
The moment I left, I can't control my tears. I kept my head down and wiped the tears off my face. I went as fast as I can. Xander didn't follow me. How will he follow me after what I did.
I should have done what Sofia said. I should have left Xander. Now, he loves me and I kept the truth hidden.
I came back to my home after some minutes. Xander's not going to call me as he doesn't have his phone for now. Maybe he's still angry at me. When days pass by, he will forget me. When he remembers everything, he will marry her. That's the end of the story. I'm nobody in it.
I should have stayed away in the first place.
I knocked on the door as Sofia opened it in a minute. Sofia glared at me at first but then she noticed my tears.
" Madison...What's wrong? Why are you crying?"
" I'm not crying. Let me get inside," I silently went in and I'm sure I look like a girl who's done with all dramas.
" You are clearly crying. Did Xander gets his memories back and did something bad to you? I told you not to help him. Tell me everything, I will take care of the rest." Sofia acted just like how she acts whenever I'm in trouble. That makes me laugh for a minute.
" Hey, I'm not joking here,"
" I know. Whatever story you imagined is wrong," I started telling her what happened this week. When I'm done talking, she has no words for some minutes.
" Why don't you tell him what happened and forget it, start a new life by refreshing the past?" She suggested to me. She never talks like that. She should have been appreciated me for what I have done.
" This isn't how you talk, Sofia."
"Yeah, but you love him, Madison. When everything's on her side, you should fight for it. From what you said, he's still not mad at you, he's broken. He wants answers. It's just the stupid school days. Why do you have to lose him over it?"
" That makes sense. I can go back to him and explain everything and what's next. One day, if he remembers, he might regret his decision. If that should not happen, it's better to stop it now. I'm not going back to him, Sofia. If this is my fate, I will deal with it." I said, ended the conversation about my life.
" I'm sorry for letting you stay alone here. I won't leave you again." I added.
" It's okay, Madison. I'm not a child. I can live alone. I just got used to being your roommate so it was a little bit difficult."
" I know. I missed you," I hugged her.
" I missed you, too, Maddie,"
" Now, I'm going out. I will apologize to the owner of the dinner and join there as a waitress again. Are you coming with me?" I asked her, wiping the last tear from my eyes. I should not cry over Xander again. Even if he gets married to Veronica. I'm feeling sorry for the troubles I gave him.
....
" Thank you so much for giving me this job again, sir. Thank you. Thank you." I expressed my gratitude when I'm got my job back. I got a lot to pay and earn for my living. Xander's three wishes shattered after Veronica's arrival. And this is where I'm supposed to stand. Just serving the customers.
I worked here for two days. My day was busy. But still, I missed Xander. He hasn't contacted me. That's good for him. Maybe he chooses to marry Veronica.
" Hey, come here and help me with my uniform," Sofia called me as her apron ties loosened. I helped her with it and turned to take the next orders. When I looked up, I saw someone who I'm not supposed to see.
" How did Xander knows I'm working here? How did he found me?" I pulled Sofia's hands in stress.
" Whoa, I would have dropped the food, Maddie." She scolded me and her eyes shifted towards Xander entering the dinner and taking a seat all alone. He wore a black T-shirt, jeans and a leather coat. Everything's in black makes me hard to avoid him. His hand is totally fine. He ran a hand through his hair and looking into his phone. He got a brand new phone. And why is he in an unfamous dinner?
I stared at him for a long time until he looked up at me. I have to take orders now. Oh, no.
