Her Glamorous Beauty

What’s in your heart?

“Just calm ma’am, sir. Your daughter is now safe. We just found a small amount of poisonous drug in her intestines, but she had been taking sleeping pills all along,” the doctor explained.

“Gosh! Whomever made fun of my daughter, I will surely cut his head off!” Bernadette spontaneously exclaimed in anger.

“I understand your feelings, ma’am, but don’t forget that what you’re planning to do is a crime,” the doctor reminded her before he turned and left.

“We must be thankful instead that she wasn’t severely poisoned,” Elfedio said in a grateful manner. “Don’t worry, we’ll assign an investigator to investigate this, so that it’ll not happen again.”

They entered the emergency room and discovered Rebecca awake. She was breathing well, but they couldn’t prevent themselves from getting emotional. Seeing them, Rebecca’s tears also voluntarily flowed down from her golden eyes.

Bernadette sat down beside her daughter and touched her forehead, wiping her hair out of her face as she said, “Don’t worry darling, everything will be alright, and we’ll leave here tomorrow.”

“Um, can you tell us something? About what happened? Do you know who that person was who tried to poison you?” Elfedio asked.

“All I remember was that my brother Claudio got inside my room with a tray of food. I thought you asked him to bring me my breakfast, didn’t you?” Rebecca replied in a weary but curious voice.

“Yeah, we told him. But he can’t possibly be involved in this. He even just arrived at the mansion-he can’t do that, but maybe those amateur cooks,” Elfedio concluded, or defended his son.

Bernadette reminded him. “Don’t worry about that, as what you’ve said, we’ll still find out the truth, for there’s no secret which can be hidden forever,” Bernadette remarked. “So you better let our daughter take a rest for now.”

Rebecca felt guilty as she was struck by her mother’s words. She knew why she hadn’t had the courage to tell them that she and the gardener had a relationship, but perhaps that was also because of love, that she couldn’t disappoint Emerson, no matter how hard it was.

Going back to the farmstead, Emerson couldn’t focus on his work because the thought that he couldn’t see Rebecca again wouldn’t leave his mind. He was inside his room when someone knocked on the door, so he stood up to see.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

“Who are you?” Emerson asked the man, who looked unfamiliar to him.

“I’m Claudio San Jose, Rebecca’s brother,” he replied. “Are you Emerson Bevilla? The new head worker?”

“Yes sir, I am.” Emerson got out of the room and closed the door behind him. “I didn’t know that Rebecca had a brother. Why are you looking for me anyway?”

“Yeah, well, at least now you know. I’m just dropping by to say hello to our employees.” Claudio offered him a handshake. “Nice to meet you.” He winked, turned back and attempted to leave.

“Wait sir! Do you have any updates about Rebecca?” Emerson asked.

Claudio stopped and looked back. “Uh, yup. Mom told me that she’s going back tomorrow. Are you excited to see her?” The tone of his voice sounds insinuating.

“Huh?” Emerson’s mouth drooped. “I’m just concerned about the young lady. I’ve heard from the other workers that she was poisoned.” He also appears to be implying to Claudio.

“Oh, I don’t know why I didn’t believe that. Well, you don’t need to deny it, that you two are dating!” Claudio laughed, sending a stab to Emerson’s spine.

“Please sir, don’t exclaim here. That’s not true!” Emerson defended.

“Hmmp, why do you look nervous? Are you afraid that my parents might know this?” Claudio smirked. “Don’t worry, man; if you’ll be obedient to me, I won’t tell them about your hidden relationship.”

“Thank you.” Emerson sighed in relief. “You know, I can do everything for your sister, and I can follow her even to the stiffness of death.” The sincerity of his words was reflected in his serene, brown eyes.

“Don’t tell me that, but my parents, they might fall in love with your words.” Claudio snickered before he continued walking out of the passageway.

As he sat down on the stool, Emerson was filled with two things; delight that Rebecca didn’t leave him, and surprise that she has an older brother. There might be something more she’s not telling him.

“I told you,” Damian said, as he suddenly appeared beside Emerson. “You should stop getting closer to the young lady, because you’re entering a lot of things in which you’re not a participant.”

“Brother? As I told you, you’re even intruding on my decisions too, though you’re not a participant. I know, you’re just concerned, but I’m more concerned that you’ll be implicated in my own business,” Emerson replied.

“I’ve been implicated since you arrived here, so you don’t need to worry. I’m old enough to stay silent on one side. You can trust me if you need someone’s advice.” Damian turned back and continued to the kitchen.

“Oh my lady!” He knew that Rebecca and him were not able to enter into a relationship together because there were a lot of things that blocked them.

“What are you still doing here?” Damian asked as he suddenly emerged beside him again. “Don’t you want to get inside to eat dinner with me?”

“I really need someone to tell me this.” Emerson squeezed his nose. “Brother Damian, do you know the feeling of being stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea?”

“Being stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea, huh?” Damian imitated “Why? Are you stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea?”

“I don’t know if I can trust you with this, but there are two important things for me, and I need to choose between them. How can I be certain that I will not be sorry that I chose the one I did?” Emerson told him a conundrum.

“Hmm. Choose what’s in your heart.” Damian interrogated. “What your heart shouts for will never make you regret it.” His voice gradually disappeared as he watched how the night bleeds into day.

Early in the morning, Emerson was watering the plants when a car halted by the gate. As the young lady stepped out, she took a deep breath with the thought that she could finally stroll around and secretly meet her boyfriend.

Seeing her expressionless face, but deep within was the immeasurable happiness, Emerson’s eyes widened, mouth and jaw dropped in admiration as his heart seemed to jump out of its rib cage of euphoria.

“Hi!” Rebecca greeted him as if they had just met each other, that they were just friends or nothing, and especially that they didn’t want others to think that they were so intimate, despite the longing to hold each other again.

Emerson didn’t say anything but continued watering the plants as Rebecca passed by beside him. Then he heard something as Elfedio and Bernadette followed, perhaps the sounds of anger or disapproval as they didn’t ask for their approval for their relationship.

“Good morning, ma’am, sir,” Emerson greeted them, but they just grumbled and continued to the door of the mansion. “What’s happening to them?” Emerson asked the plants.
